Merry Christmas Everyone! Well I guess someone where I live was paying
attention to me...I ended up getting WoD Combat. If I wasn't worried about
WW taking some kind of action against me, I would probably convert some of
the new styles into ones more appropriate for SF in the next Warrior's
Pride...but ah well. I hope everyone is having a great holiday season, even
if you don't celebrate Christmas!

Yeah I just picked up Combat and had the same thought-converting joint break,
for example. I don't know if they'd actualy care enough to take legal
action, that hadn't crossed my mind.

Well I suppose that I could always e-mail them...after all, it wouldn't be
telling anyone -how- to play, only providing a resource for fans who play a
game that they decided to cancel. I don't think they would go for it though.

1 Hex equals a 38.2 inches. In other words just over three feet... or about
0.97 Meters.
I can't find the conversion table right now, but I just stick it at Three
feet for simplicity. You can jump just as High as you can Long, in this
game...

the Combat book may not be totally appropriate for SF conversion, but it
does clarify a maneuver or two. it's description for Jump is almost
identical, with the following suppliment:
"System: A character can jump three feet into the air or five feet forward
for every dot in Athletics."
Happy Holidays everyone!

True, but as Street Fighter is based on a different universe with obviously
different "reality rules", the distance covered by characters could differ.
They probably don't, but I like to debate =)

So long as one still needs to buy the SF book to play, or buy the combat
book to get the WoD version, they probably wouldn't mind. It would seem to
be more along the lines of a 'house rules' sight or a net-found bloodline.

Well, in particular, I would like to use the Tooth & Claw maneuvers from
Combat to go along with my "Call of the Wild" article. Of course, Warrior's
World uses at the very least Atemi Strike from WoD Combat...the text is
almost the same and the modifiers are the same (except for damage), so I
find it hard to believe that it wasn't taken from Combat.

I've always said that Hexes are three feet in diameter, and that jump height
is the same as jump length for a Street Fighter. Why?
Simple. You can jump three feet in the air for every dot of athletics
you've got. You can also move one hex on the ground for each dot of
athletics. Keeping stuff on a 1 to 1 conversion, 1 hex = 3 feet.
I've never had anyone try to use Speed of the Mongoose to increase his Jump
height before... hmm... *long moment of pondering and stroking chin
thoughtfully* ...I'd allow it. It would increase his Move as usual, he'd
just be going up instead of across.

Simply, because as far as I've seen it (I have a firm grasp on the rules,
but I'm not infallible here) there are no rules covering how far someone can
move horizontally, so I set every hex as five feet. In other words, a move
of five would cover 25 feet, which isn't improbable in the slightest. It
works for us, at any rate. However, I stuck to the three feet vertically
rule. Makes sense right? You can't jump as far as you can jog/run, and if
Streetfighters are really athletic and all, no problem. The situation was
this: He had Speed of the Mongoose going, and tried to jump 50 feet onto
the roof of a building. When I said that he'd have to have a move of about
17 vertically, he blew up. Go figure. Even when I said that there were
other buildings with lower roofs, he had to jump to the top of this one.
Why? "Because then they won't be able to follow me." Beats me. I've never
seen anyone jump even thirty feet onto the top of a roof, except VERY high
powered NPC's in my game. The guys following him were SWAT members out of
the sourcebook.
