Long red hair? Please let it be Akuma with a perm!

He walks like Akuma, he quacks like Akuma, therefor he must be Akuma!

Actually, this very fight happened last between me and my brother in a Ken
vs. Ken bout. Every time I did something, my brother did it to. Dragon
Punches, Fireballs, Hurrican Kicks, everything was hitting at the same
time and causing the same damage. Eventualy, with 3 seconds on the clock
left, I screwed up the dragon punch and did a power Uppercut instead and
my brother sent Ken to Little Nemo's Slumberland.

I guess history repeats itself.

San He's system description states that it causes the fighter to not
only be immune to knockback, but that it immediately brings the
knockback-causing maneuver to an end. You can't always go with how the
video game works because the mechanics are totally different in many
cases.

Actually, Im not sure if the San he will stop the charater doing the
cart
wheel. We have all seen in the street fighter games that a move such as
cartwheel seems to continue even if the person is blocking.
Try the Hurricane kick on some on and the get pushed allittle and even
if
there back is against the wall the hurricane keeps going.

'Fraid so Rinaldo.....the whole point of San he's that you root yourself
into the earth. I know you don't have the source books, so if you can't find
an adequate description Online, then don't hesitate to ask for one from
us....
I believe you can find a list of maneuvers online though....or even in the
Vault.
Anyone know where Mauevers are?

I saw a demo of a cross between San He and Toughskin. One guy tried to
basically impale another guy with the point of a sword. He put his full
weight into it but the other guy just stood there. Finally the other
guy let out a yell and charged, bending the sword in half.

My question tho, is Howard once told me that 'real life' San He really
did work against grappling. Is this true, and the SF book is just in
error?

San He is designed to "root" a character to the ground
with Chi, making them completely immovable...I have
seen it IRL...it's very impressive...

Ah, yes...the infamous "Iron Shirt" Technique...yes,
that is a cross between San He (to keep the fighter
from moving) and Toughskin (to keep the blade from
penetrating)...as for "real" San He working or not
working against grappling maneuvers...beats me...

Subject: Fun Style.
I make this one day and forget it for while but when I´m looking for
some manuvers I found it and think why don´t show it to the others.

Football Brawling

This cool style used by football players or that grabs runnings or
knockdowns manuvers only coincidence not chance this a result of hard
training, lot of lot of lots of beer boxes and Greek/Roman fight
training in high school.

Punch: Buffalo punch (1pt), Ear pop (2pt), Elbow smash (1pt), Widowmaker
(1pt) , Haymaker (1pt), Double punch (1pt)
Kick: Goal Hit Kick (3pt), Punt Hit Kick (1pt), Slide Kick (2pts).
Athletics: Running Yards (4pts), Ground Fighting (3pts), Jumping
Shoulder Butt (1pt)
Grabs: Braincracker (1pt), Bear Hug (1pt), Head Butt Hold (2pt),
Touchdown Bomb (3pts), Aerial Touchdown Bomb (5pts), Suplex (1pt), Choke
Throw (2pts), Throw (1pt).
Blocks: Common Manuvers.
Focus: Common Manuvers.

New Manuvers

Punch:

Double punch (I don´t make this manuver but maybe someone don´t known) :
Fighter choose 2 basic punches and they hit enemy in same turn.
Speed: Variable.
Damage: Variable.
Move: Variable.

Kick:

Goal Hit Kick:

The fighter runs a lots and with all of his strenght give a high kick on
the ball... or should say the enemy far away, in a straight line, enemy
receives a great knockdown five hexes but in a straight line.
Power Points: Kick 3 Athletics 2. Football Brawling 3 pts any 5.
Cost: 1 willpower
Speed: +0
Damage: +4
Move: +4

Punt Hit Kick: The Punt kick is a similar manuver, like Goal Kick but
the fighter don´t run but kick his enemy without mercy for the sky five
hexes up, this anti-aerial manuver and hit enemy in ground but knockdown
aerial only.
Power Points: Goal Kick. Football Brawling 1 pt any 3.
Cost: 1willpower.
Speed: +0
Damage: +5
Move: 0

Athletics:

Running Yards: This a classical move, what happens when the player have
the ball? Is right he runs and with his elbow open hjs way in the
middle of his opponents, if hit a blocking enemy a Strenght contest is
required if the user of manuver have more success than his opponent, he
receive a knockdown (blocks counting in soak), but if the defender wins
the contest the user falls at ground.
Power Points: Elbow smash ,Football Brawling 4 pts..
Cost: 1 willpower
Speed: -2
Damage: +6
Move: +5

Grabs:

Touchdown Bomb: User grab his opponent run with him and smash him at the
ground like Clark special in K.O.F series.
Power Points: Grab 3 Football Brawling 3pts any 5 pts.
Cost: 1 willpower
Speed: +0
Damage: +4
Move: +2

Aerial Touchdown Bomb: It´s like Touchdown Bomb except for one thing he
jumps and smash his opponent in the ground
Power Points: Grab 5, Jump, Touchdown Bomb, Football Brawling 5.
Cost 1 will
Speed: –2
Damage: +7
Move: 1

funny isn´t it :).

Group: streetfighter Message: 4119 From: J. Scott Pittman Date: 11/30/1999
Subject: Re: More house rules
> Yes guns and lazers too although i think they

I suggest NOT giving firearms any type of bonus to speed or damage other
than what Street Fighter has already given.
They purposely made guns less lethal and slower in the Street Fighter
universe. Guns are awesome weapons in the real world, but the focus of the
Street Fighter universe is hand to hand combat over everything else, and
assumes "movie" firearms rules...

The Movie/Street Fighter Firearms Rules (onoffical, but assumed I think)
1. You can dodge bullets
2. You can act fast enough to beat the time needed to pull a trigger
3. Gunshot wounds are almost always survivable, unless the death from such a
wound is very dramatic.
4. Only really ruthless bad guys have guns. Gang members, other fighters
working for the local crime boss would all think it crazy to use a firearm!
You and your buddies will most certainly not use guns, and if you carry one
because you do use it in your line of work, you will lose it when it becomes
dramaticaly appropriate to do so.
5. Your gun will jam at any dramatically appropriate moment, or you will run
out of ammo.
6. You will always be able to keep and fire your gun at the bad guy if he
has powers that prevent him from being harmed by said weapon (but you can
bet that a good punch can hurt him).
7. Instead of aiming just ahead of your movement, the Bad Guy will aim just
behind you, leaving an impressive but harmless shower of sparks behind your
feet.
8. Bad Guys can't aim well (usualy because of badly designed helmets or
visors).
9. You will lose any extra ammo clips you may be carrying. If you take
drastic measures to assure you do not lose them, see rule #5 (jamming).
10. Fighting is much more effective and impressive for combat purposes than
a firearm, as it is much more dramatic. The story designer will take all
neccessary steps to assure that using a firearm of any type will be seen as
a wise thing when preparing for combat, but in actuality will be almost
pointless. Minor monsters, aliens and undead of little importance to the
story other than cannon fodder can be killed with a firearm, but otherwise
the heroes are gonna have to use hand-held weapons or thier fists. in other
words, sorry Mr. Happytrigger, you're gonna have to duke it out after all!

Group: streetfighter Message: 4132 From: Andy Date: 11/30/1999
Subject: Roll-playing.
Over in one semi-lonely corner of Rinaldo's training grounds sat a group of
4 pacific Islanders. Although they were staying quiet and out of the way,
they weren't very hard to miss; two of them were very large men, and could
have been Sumotori had they had proper training.
However the smallest member of the group stood out most. This was primarly
because of how he was dressed; He had on his customary Straw hat, that was
so large it almost interfered with the others at the table. He also had on a
bright Hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts, and although he was very small, his
attire showed off an incredibly tight body. He would almost seem like a
normal teenage Islander...
Almost.

"Well, I went in and talked to Rinaldo", said Talon to his compatriots
"...and everything seems to be going smoothly."
"Who did you challange?" asked the large Fuali
"Well...there was the soldier there, Mr. G.I. Joe or sometin'..."
"*great*" wispered Fuali
"And we had some similarites: I didn't like his uniform, and he didn't like
me atittude. So we had a mutual challenge. We fight as soon as Rinaldo works
out the arrangements."

"You know dat you can't go around and tear up every serviceman dat you see
just because you're still mad at wot dey done to ya." Big Akebono tryied to
reason with the young hothead.
"You don't understand! It's THIER facility that captured us and THIER guards
that did this to us....to ME!!" With this Talon held up his most
distinguishing feature: his hands. He would have looked like a normal kid,
except for the fact that he had on two Leather gloves. These were Falconry
gloves, that were several sizes to large and came up to his elbows.
"I used to be able to play the drums, I used to be able to fish, I used to
be able to scratch and itch on my face without tearing my cheeks off!"
The gloves were well worn through, even the the leather was thick. Some of
the tips of the fingers were burst open. Gleaning as he held up his 'hands'
were razor sharp appendegess inside where fingers should be.

"Hey, you got a bad deal, but not everyone knows that you're a Cyborg.
Speaking of which is that cool with everyone up there?" inquired the medium
sized Josh
"Well, apparently the saw the likes of a cybrog before. Named Justin
Fatiguable or something like that. Appraently he tried to scare everybody,
and he got kicked out. They know I'm different, but thier giving me a
chance...."
he pause hand tried to grasp the Mako shark's tooth that hung round his
neck.
"Are you guys going to play for my fight or what? I can't trust just these
tatoos on my back to protect me now can I.."
"You kiddin'? We wouldn't miss our best buddies' first fight ouside de
Islands! Everybody will feel our rythm...even Mista Army over there!

Talon had to smile at that.....

Subject: Re: Challenging Whisper
Whisper looked down at the crumbled body of the martial artist.
"At least I've stopped your pain for a moment."
He turned towards the flashy new fighter who appeared at the edge of the
crowd. <This man,> he thought, <is all talk. He has not suffered. His easy
life has not given him the drive that comes from being truely defeated. I
will give him that spark. I will be his introduction to pain.>
The eerie hollow voice shot down the street, and Kraeger heard it as a
slight chiming in his ear.
"I accept."

Subject: "Friendly Fight" Twenty-nine Charles Kraegar Vs Whisper.
I make this fight and I have another one to make but I have problems
with
Blind fight.
I make this option, If the Stf have official rule for blind fight
someone
send to me because I have fight to make and I need this rule If don´t
have
and someone have a better idea, just send me or if my rule is good I use
it.

My optional rule in Blindness case: When I fighter is blinded he roll
his
technique + Dexterity to avoid a fall when he try a manuver like a
Foward
kick I roll Athletics + Dexterity at difficult 10 but minus blind
fighting
skill if the guy of example have blind figth 1, I roll his Kick
technique+
Dexterity at difficult 10-1(blind fight skill) or he roll his test at
difficult 9 a Critical failure the fighter fall at ground a normal
failure
the fighter wrong the target, I roll his Dexterity 4 more his kick tech
3= 7
dices at difficult 10 but I remove in difficult his blind fight skill 1
and
he make the test a difficult 9 and he have 5, 4, 2, 1, 6, 7, 7, 8, 3 no
success and he have a critical failure and fall at ground (knockdown).

But this time for Friendly fight twenty nine.

Charles Kraegar style: Spanish Ninjutsu player: Mark Radic

Appearance: Charles is 5'7" tall and weighs 150 lbs. He is caucasian
and
his long blond hair is tied back in a pony tail. He fights in a pair of
black tear aways, white tank top and silver Oakley shades. Before the
fight
he does a series of back flips then landing in a crouch.

Quote before fight: He then smiles and says "they say beauty comes from
within so I will oblige you and help rip yours out."

Vs

Whisper style: Shotokan Karate country: Unknown (But he is oriental
group)

Appearance: A man in a black gi. He wears a metal mask and has stringy
long
red hair that flows down around his shoulders. He wears a red sash and
footwear, and circuits and wires race up and down the length of his
arms.

Quote before fight: "Test my strength!"

Arena: The forests of Canada.

Move 1- Whisper retreat 2 hexes and Charles Kraegar move 3 and make a
Jumping foward kick
but hit nothing.
Move 2- Charles Kraegar make a Back flip for his combo and move 2 hexes
and
Whisper block for his combo.
Move 3- Whisper make a Drangon punch and Charles Kraegar make a Air
throw
but Whisper Dragon punch is more faster and Charles Kraegar receives: 5
points of damage and Charles Kraegar fall at ground (knockdown) and is
dizzy,
he stand up in this turn but is dizzy and lost his next action.
Move 4- Charles Kraegar is dizzy and Whisper make a Fierce punch Charles
Kraegar receives: 2 points of damage.
Move 5- Whisper block and Charles Kraegar recover from stun and make a
Handstand kick and Whisper receives: 1 point of damage.
Move 6- Charles Kraegar make a Back flip for his combo and Whisper block
for
his combo.
Move 7- Whisper make a Dragon punch and Charles Kraegar make a Air throw

I saw it on a documentary about the history of Kung Fu and the Shaolin
temples. The Learning Channel, or Discovery, or some such. I've seen
similar performances in real-life at karate exhibitions where a master
would have a pair of swords placed on him and then have an assistant
pile on loads of bricks. Pretty impressive. A friend of mine has seen
some Shaolin monk demonstrations where they fought on top of bamboo
poles, Ranma-style. That, coupled with the young Chinese acrobats I saw
who could catch ten/twenty feet of air *without* a springboard, leads me
to believe that Street Fighter's fiction may have more basis in fact
than we realize.

agreed. If San He actually did work on grappling then there'd be no
reason for Grappling Defense. Since both are available to Tai Chi at a
really low cost, then I suppose a combo of the two was, in game terms,
what Howard was talking about.

I think they made san he in that manner so it wasnt to powerful.
It was for game balance even though most of us might disagree with it.

definitely. My personal favorite is someone using Kick Defense with a
high Stamina/Block. They'll usually end up rolling three dice of damage
to every one versus the kicker, and that is *not* in the kicker's best
interest. Bad tradeoff.

hehe... I remember J. Maximum. One of my favorite dudes, who has been
an NPC in my campaign for several years. He's on a team with a former
pro-wrestler and a maniac baseball player who uses a bat with nails
embedded in the end. Not fun to be around. Naturally, he had Flying
Tackle and a lot of the uglier grab maneuvers.

I've always figured that guns *could* be lethal, but since they are so
commonplace there is no martial art that does not teach some form of
firearms evasion. Thusly, a fighter is actually difficult to hit when
he's moving in battle, and that is the reason for low damage.

Still, get a guy with Firearms 5 and a high wits using a rifle from a
fairly safe location and watch the damage rack up! Or better yet, an
automatic weapon...

I suggest NOT giving firearms any type of bonus to speed or damage other
than what Street Fighter has already given.
They purposely made guns less lethal and slower in the Street Fighter
universe. Guns are awesome weapons in the real world, but the focus of
the
Street Fighter universe is hand to hand combat over everything else, and
assumes "movie" firearms rules...

The Movie/Street Fighter Firearms Rules (onoffical, but assumed I think)
1. You can dodge bullets
2. You can act fast enough to beat the time needed to pull a trigger
3. Gunshot wounds are almost always survivable, unless the death from
such a
wound is very dramatic.
4. Only really ruthless bad guys have guns. Gang members, other fighters
working for the local crime boss would all think it crazy to use a
firearm!
You and your buddies will most certainly not use guns, and if you carry
one
because you do use it in your line of work, you will lose it when it
becomes
dramaticaly appropriate to do so.
5. Your gun will jam at any dramatically appropriate moment, or you will
run
out of ammo.
6. You will always be able to keep and fire your gun at the bad guy if
he
has powers that prevent him from being harmed by said weapon (but you
can
bet that a good punch can hurt him).
7. Instead of aiming just ahead of your movement, the Bad Guy will aim
just
behind you, leaving an impressive but harmless shower of sparks behind
your
feet.
8. Bad Guys can't aim well (usualy because of badly designed helmets or
visors).
9. You will lose any extra ammo clips you may be carrying. If you take
drastic measures to assure you do not lose them, see rule #5 (jamming).
10. Fighting is much more effective and impressive for combat purposes
than
a firearm, as it is much more dramatic. The story designer will take all
neccessary steps to assure that using a firearm of any type will be seen
as
a wise thing when preparing for combat, but in actuality will be almost
pointless. Minor monsters, aliens and undead of little importance to the
story other than cannon fodder can be killed with a firearm, but
otherwise
the heroes are gonna have to use hand-held weapons or thier fists. in
other
words, sorry Mr. Happytrigger, you're gonna have to duke it out after
all!

...in addition, I've always used a house rule that states;

1) if you are in the gunner's hex or in an adjacent hex, and

2) the gunner has the gun drawn, and

3) he has a higher Speed than you,

4) you're either dead or mortally wounded. There's almost no evading a
gun at that distance unless you can make the guy lose it.

I've been fuddling around with various gunnery rules and Special
Maneuvers that seem to work really well, including Akimbo Weapons,
Sniper, Fast Draw, Split Target, and Moving Fire. They come in really
handy when folks like, oh say, Lara Croft or some Yakuza enforcer want
to do a backflip while spraying two uzis around.

a'yup.

Basically, you assign a difficulty higher than six to fight an opponent
in darkness, and then each success on a resisted Wits + Blind-Fighting
roll versus the opponent's Dexterity + Stealth lowers that roll back
down to six.

Zo;

Bob Sanbo gets jumped by a ninja wearing a black nightsuit in a
pitch-black alley. Bob's Storyteller informs him that instead of
rolling against 6 to do damage, Bob must roll against 10. Realizing he
has a problem here, Bob reminds the Storyteller he has Blindfighting 5,
then scores 3 Successes on a Wits + Blindfighting roll. The Ninja
scores 2 Successes on his Dextery + Stealth roll. Bob beat the ninja by
1, so Bob's new difficulty is 9.

On a botch, or if the fighter has no Blindfighting at all, he can still
fight (or is optionally dizzied, as per the Players' Guide under Eye
Rake), but must roll randomly to see what direction his attack goes in.
This could be amusing if the blinded fighter chooses to use a Fireball
at his opponent with teammates around.

Blind fighting trouble, Eh?
I've had similar woes before.

My suggestion is to go through Steve about house rules: he seems to have
a
fair system going on.
I think he posted about Blind fighting before........

Subject: Re: Twenty ways to hose Cartwheel Kick.
First off, the 'Kick itself is usually not a problem *unless* it is part
of a combo.

Many of these strategies take that into account, especially the dreaded
"Block to Cartwheel Kick" that we all know and love. The only one that
*kinda* throws these for a loop is "Block to Cartwheel Kick" with a
Musical Accompaniment bonus placed to Speed. At Dex 5, this means a
second-turn 'Kick going off on Speed 10. Ugly, but not unbeatable at
any level. You'll notice many of these tactics coming from the Players'
Guide. Fight cheese with cheese, as it were... although many of the
old-school stylin' from the sourcebook is all you need in most cases.

1 Zen No Mind + Ice Blast.

2 (Block to) Jab/Elbow Smash/Rekka Ken. Remember to step to one side
when you Jab as the 'Kick must travel in a straight line.

3 (Block to) Heel Stamp. Again, step to one side prior to launching the
'Stamp to send the 'Kicker sideways; that way even if the Stamp misses
you're out of range.

4 (Block to) Eye Rake. Step to the side, you know the drill.

5 (Block to) Head Bite. Especially from a Hybrid with the capability to
start with a 6(!) Dex.

6 walls. Keep your back to a wall and the 'Kick, unable to send you
anywhere, will be forced to end.

7 distance attacks (fireball, sonic boom, repeating fireball, etc). The
'Kick loses its sting if it has to travel a few hexes to hit you. In
addition, since it must travel in a straight line, it is easier to stay
out of a straight hex path to your opponent if you can throw fireballs.

8 ring-out rules/small arenas. I usually have a Tourney rule in place
that states if one fighter is forcibly booted out of the ring, the match
is halted and the two combatants' starting positions are reset at the
ring center. Keeps the 'Kickers from going too far if you stick near
the edge of the arena.

9 San He. *kick!* *thud.* *stop.*

10 (Stamina 5 + Block 5 plus) Maka Wara. Throw in Kick Defense if
you're feeling perky.

11 Wounded Knee. Not quite as good as others listed here (it's too
slow), but rather fun for reducing the 'Kicker's speed. Anyone else dig
a house rule that says the kick's penalties are cumulative? I do. Gets
easier to reduce someone to 0 Move when you can just keep pluggin' away
at their thighbone.

12 Ghost Form/Yoga Teleport. Can you say.... Whiff?

13 Enforce willpower costs. Technically, the 'Kicker has performed the
move the second he is capable of an attack roll... which is the moment
he leaves his hex. If your opponent dodges your Cartwheel Kick, you
still lose your willpower.

14 Esquives/Displacement/Drunken Monkey Roll/Jump/Move. Has anyone ever
tried a Move to Jump combo? Well, you should. Just for the surprise
factor.

15 Pit/Wall/Weight. Earth Elementals are fun, especially when they
reduce Move and Speed.

16 Drain/Drench/Envelop/Spontaneous Combustion/Yoga Fire. Ranged
attacks that don't need to be on a straight line, *or* fast! Yee-ha!

17 group fights. No move is cheesy enough to take on four opponents
with.

18 Dim Mak. Especially from evil people who would just as soon cripple
you in the knees for life as look at you. You should've *seen* the look
on the face of my player who had his Dex reduced from 7(!) to 2 when I
told him that he would have to gain it back through Honor rolls. I love
Storytelling.

19 Improved Fireball. Abort or lose your move due to a knockdown. Stay
off of a straight hexline when you do this one to keep the 'Kicker from
interrupting.

20 eh, so there are only 19. The fact that a lot of them are actually
multiple ways means that there are more than 20. Rock.

oh! and...

20 A cartwheel kick of your own. man, they *hate* that.

21 Dragon Punch/Double Dread Kick - step to one side, do huge damage,
knock the 'Kicker out of the way.

21 Iron Claw - fast grab. sustained hold. 'nuff said.

22 Backflip.

23 Improved Pin. Ranged Grab that doesn't require entering an
opponent's hex, hard as hell to get out of.

24 Chi Push. Quite a distance-maker.

25 Knife-Hand Strike. Gee, you put all your points into Kick and Dex?
Too bad. Your pitiful Stamina is even less so. *poke.*

26 Head Butt. The poor man's Elbow Smash. Step to the side, kiddies.

27 Honor loss for repeated use of a move an opponent has a
"vulnerability" to. Glory loss for insanely quick fights. "Boo! We
wanted some action!"

28 Tiger Knee, especially with the Knockdown-at-any-costs
interpretation.

29 Vacuum

30 Push - who says Air Elementals suck wind? (ha ha)

Subject: "Friendly Fight" 30 Talon Master Vs Mr.Military.
I´m using my optinal rules for this bout, but if someone have the official
rule and send to me and I will have no problems in blindness cases.

Talon Master style: Lua country: Hawaii/Samoa player: Andy

Appearance: Young with tanned skin, he's quite small but has a very tight
frame. Althought in great shape, his face has been rearranged many times.
His hair normally covers his eyes, and is kept long and tied back in the
rear. He has polynesian tatoos across his back and on his deltoids. He
normally wares a Huge straw hat, and a Hawaiian shirt. In the ring he only
wares a short sarong (skirt) and a shark tooth necklace. He has two cyborg
hands...He wares large leather gloves that come up to his forearms (look
like falconier gloves), to try and cover them out of combat.

Quote before fight: "Approach....." and his band starts playing thier fast
beat polynesian music. He walks out, pulls off his gloves, and then throws
away his hat. He bounces with the beat of the music until the fight starts.

Vs

Mr.Military style: Special Forces country: Usa player: J.Scot Pittman.

Appearance: Mr. Military, an afirian-american, dresses in a marine full
military dress uniform, and is very clean cut. However, he is almost
always seen smoking a smelly cigar. His expression is always one of disgust
or seriousness. Mr.Military stands 6 ft. exactly, with black, crew-cut hair,
deep brown eyes.
He bears a scar of unknown origin that runs from the top of the left
side of his forehead all the way down the side of his face.

Arena: A beach in Hawaii.

Move 1- Mr Military move 1 hex to make a Foot sweep but Talon Master is
more faster and move 2 hexes to make a Eye Rake for his combo Mr.Military
receives: 1 point of damage and Mr.Military scream in pain, blinded for next
turn.
Move 2- Mr.Military is blinded but pass in his blind fight skill and make a
back flip k ick and move 2 hexes back and Talon Master moves 2 hexes and
make a Dislocated limb Mr.Military receives:1 point of damage and Mr.Militar
arm is dislocated. Ps: Mr.Military recover his vision in end of this turn
Move 3- Mr.Military block and Talon Master make a Head bite susteinted
Mr.Military receives: 2 points of damage Strenght vs Strenght contest
Mr.Military wins and force Talon Master to release him from his hold.
Move 4- Talon Master make a Head bite susteinted and Mr.Military make a
foot sweep for his combo but too slow and Mr.Military receives: 3 points of
damage Str vs Str and Talon Master continue his hold, Mr.Military combo is
broken.
Move 5- Talon Master make a Head bite and Mr.Military receives: 4 points of
damage.
Move 6- Mr.Military block and Talon Master make a Eye rake and Mr.Military
receives: 1 point of damage and Mr.Military is blind.
Move 7- Mr.Military is blind but pass in blind fight skill and Talon Master
make a Head bite and Mr.Military receives: 3 points of damage and knockout.
Talon Master wins by knockout.
Talon Master Wares huge hat, and big leather gloves.
Talon Master winning quote: "You fought well. I will help heal your
wounds...."

Subject: Re: E-mail campaign
90% of the Styles listed in the Street Fighter books
are REAL styles...since White Wolf and Capcom worked
fairly close together on the game, and Capcom used
real styles for their fighters...the only ones that
are possibly made up are Kabaddi (possibly, they do
describe it as a form of combat yoga), Spanish
Ninjitsu (which Vega created from bullfighter training
and true Ninjitsu) and Ler Drit (Soviet "Special
Forces" mixed with Dark Chi power/Psycho
Power)...There are so many substyles of Kung Fu out
there that Majestic Crow could very well exist.

As for the maneuvers, a good 85% to 90% of them are
real as well, or based in martial arts legend. The
rest are considered "manifestations of a fighter's
inner ability, usually brought about by an accident or
intense training". Although I have never seen a
Capcom Street Fighter use Ice Blast...

Do you have a copy of Mystic China from Palladium?
Both it and Ninjas & Superspies (same company) have
boatloads of martial arts (all of which are based on
real styles). In Mystic China, there is a style
called "Triad Assassin" in which the practicioner is
trained exclusively with handguns, not only as ranged
weapons, but also in close combat, mainly through the
"Pistol Whip" maneuver...

Just thought I'd let you guys know...

Subject: Re: E-mail campaign
Actually, many of the SF styles were slightly mutilated in the
transition. For example...

Kung Fu - not a single style, but more of a name applied to the entire
group of Chinese martial arts.

Wu Shu - has nothing to do with acrobatics. Is merely the
government-approved teaching methods of Kung Fu, with no real practical
combat application. Is taught in Chinese schools as physical education
is done in America.

Sanbo - actually called Sambo, and there are three varieties; sport,
defense, and Special Forces. None of which have anything to do with
huge russian strongmen.

Kabaddi - a bastardization of stereotypical Yoga techniques. The real
Kabaddi is an Indian game that has little to do with fighting.

Ler Drit - Special Forces application of Thai Kickboxing. No Soviet
influence whatsoever, to my knowledge.

Tai Chi Chuan - lumped under Chinese Kung Fu/Wu Shu, depending on who
you talk to.

What I meant was, there are people capable of pulling off a lot of the
tricks that Street Fighters do, and therefore one can't really consider
the concepts too ridiculous.

Got an even nastier one for ya...purely hypothetical
(although one of my PC's tried something in a fight
before we kicked him out of the group.)

A ninja with MAX Dex and Athletics (8's) has both
Speed of the Mongoose and Cartwheel Kick...

1st turn) Activate Speed of the Mongoose...

2nd turn) Begin CWK with SotM Move Bonus - 18 hexes.

3rd & 4th turns) Continue CWK without SotM Move Bonus
- 12 hexes each.

Total number of hits: 42!!!

This is an extreme example, and should be taken
however you feel like...

Mercifully, your opponent won't survive the first kick. ;)
Still, the concept is sickening.

Almost as much fun as the Yoga Teleport to Repeating Fireball trick I
saw once.

Speaking of which... Focus 8 + Intelligence 8 + Repeating Fireball = 24
fireballs at 16 damage each over a three-turn Combo.

Figures, the Chinese get something that might help them live or die. We
(Americans) get dodge ball (though dodge ball's not entirely useless...).
And people wonder why we have such a crappy education system.

Oh, I don't know. I've seen some of these guys. They're not exactly
Zangief but they're definately not Dhalsim. Is Sanbo (sport version) the
style Russia uses in the Olympics.

Since this version of Kung Fu came from Fei Long (a Bruce Lee wanabe, but
a cool one) can we assume that it's Wing Chun (I think that was Bruces'
original style).

Chris Hoffmann

Who's knowledge of Kung Fu is even less than his knowledge of Kabaddi.

Well, all the Kung Fu types might be able to be traced back to the
original Shaolin styles, but I would argue that very few of them
resemble one another. But still; knowing that someone practices Kung Fu
(which translates, by the way, literally to "hard work") tells you jack
squat about how they fight. Drunken Fist Boxing, for example, in no way
resembles Iron Head.

As an aside, the silliest form of Kung Fu I've ever seen has *got* to be
Iron Head style, a very good example of which can be found in Jackie
Chan's classic film "The Drunken Master". Wong Fei-Hung and his sifu
handle a particularly hard-headed con artist after he tries to cheat
them at a game of shells, and the resulting battle is the most
hysterical thing I've ever seen. Iron Head consists *entirely* of
headbutts, with the arms kept at the fighter's side and his face
downward, head facing the opponent. It looks like something right out
of a Curly Howard short; the fighter swings his head in wide circles and
lunges in and out a lot. You can almost hear the "nyuk nyuk nyuk"s in
the background.

Sambo's three variants are based off of one another. "Pure" Sambo is a
grappling-oriented art with an emphasis on joint-locks and
bone-breaking, using *many* tactics that one would consider cheap or
strikes to vital points, such as neck throws and bending limbs with
one's body weight behind it; knee bars, arm bars, slams, twists, you
name it. Special Forces Sambo (AKA Combat Sambo) emphasizes the combat
aspects of Sambo, where since the object is to kill or be killed, no
holds are barred. 'Defense' sambo is what is most often taught to
citizens. It's merely the defensive aspects of sambo and is meant to
allow individuals attacked by someone using other forms of sambo to
defend themselves. 'Sport' sambo is a toned-down form of Combat Sambo,
with many of the joint-breaking and crippling maneuvers barred. It
resembles Judo in a lot of ways.

That's the extent of my knowledge on these styles, so if I'm in error,
someone else can feel free to correct me.
