Take a look at Mic Foley's (aka Mankind) matches since his loss to the Rock.
Notice the lack of head shots against him? It's due to the fact that he's
currently suffering for the shots he did take. (Memory loss, dizzyness,
etc.)

IIRC, the reason only HHH & Chyna use the 'Pedegree' is because nobody else
can quite figure out how to do it safely. (Remember when the Rocker's
paralysed someone with their 'Rocker Dropper' because of a screwup?)

Subject: What was it that Ryu hit Sagat with?
A while ago this question can up. In SFA, the scar that Sagat has actually
glows sometimes, which suggests to me that not only he was hit by Chi , as
opposed to fire, but that it still burns sometimes. Which would help suggest
why Sagat is so bent on revenge. Maybe Ryu altered the technique after SF1,
seeing how horrible it could be? I mean, he does all sorts of Dragon Punches
later and nobody else is scarred (as far as we know).

Again, all mindless speculation on my part based on very little information.

Which was great up until a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the use of weapons (some more real than others) got involved and a lot more started happening outside the ring on mats the equivalent of the stuff from a high-school gym for wrestling or tumbling.

I don't know if anyone's actually stood in a professional wrestling ring, but they're nothing but big trampolines.  You can bodyslam someone all you want and they'll just bounce.

Not exactly... while it is true that they are nto as solid as a regular
ring for like Karate or Boxing, they are still sold enough for it to
hurt.. and bad... To disprove your statement, look at how they walk on
it... if it was a trampoline, that would not be possible...

I like the idea, though, that Ryu has access to terribly destructive power
that the honorable side of him serves to suppress-It would definately explain
why Akuma is so interested in him and why Dark Ryu is a possibility...
Hmmmmmm.....

I'm pretty sure that KoF doesn't have any bonus stages whatsoever. The
Fatal Fury series had armwrestling matches at different intervals. The
first one was easy. The second was murderous. At least in the first game.
Art of Fighting had training matches, though I don't remember what they
were.

Never been to a convention. Don't know. Is it really that bad, though? I
think I read in an article on your webpage about "lilting voices with
waggling fingers going you are MINE PU-ny MOR-tal", or some such like that.
Just sounds like really bad overacting to me. I just like to play 'em as
close to "real" people as possible. It's kinda hard to be "real" people
when you're a Giovanni Necromancer who's specialties is the walking dead.

I never considered it _easy_ to take on a World Warrior. Had a fella in my
group take on Ken in an exhibition match because he was a little too cocky
and thought his character was a complete goon. His quote was "Seventeen
dice for a Flaming Dragon Punch...and you're going to roll a second time?".
Point being, a World Warrior is something a character should aspire to be
and look on as a living legend. Looking at those records on Standing, I'd
say the WW's earned it.

Subject: Re: Streetfighter LARP
Speaking of Vamps as real people, big debate in the local vamp live-action
is costumes. See there's the pro costume camp, who think it's rather lame to
not dress up like your character (usually vampire fashion rejects), and the
don't have problem with costumes but, I'm not gonna lOOK like a vampire cuz
thats exactly what people would expect vampires to look like camp. It has
apparently become quite the Vamp cat fight.
On another note, they've refused to play with the local Werewolf group ever
again, seems that every week at least ten vamp characters were falling tooth
and nail to the Werewolves, as they staged constant assaults on the vamps.
Werewolves took only some wounded and minor losses. Instead of the Vamps
trying a truce, being sneaky, or smart, they decided to cry Wolf. (well
actually they cried "NOT FAIR") Then they decided to not include the
Werewolves in their Goth games. I keep thinking that if the Vamps were
actually that helpless in the face of the Garou, they would have been
exterminated long ago.

Subject: Re: Elementalists.
I don't like elemental Streetfighters anyway, keep the powers dump the
background. What I really liked about Streetfighter was the fact that the
heroes earned their powers through intense discipline and training rather
than waking up one morning and realising they're a mutant, or getting hit in
the face with a green meteor. POOF! SUPERPOWERS! ***LAME*** -well at least
in my opinion.
That's why when I picked Ken & Ryu for The marvel team up games I felt great
beating the crap out of the angsty Bastards. (((oh no I'm a mutant! with
amazing powers! And! I'm handsome too woa is me *sob*)))

I don't know if anyone's actually stood in a professional wrestling ring, but they're nothing but big trampolines.  You can bodyslam someone all you want and they'll just bounce.

Depends on what you mean by fake.  I read somewhere that 85% (on the
average) of the injuries the wrestlers supposidly suffer are real.
Besides, to quote Jessie 'The Body' Ventura: "How do you fake a body
slam?"

Remember, it's just like ballet.  It's known how it's going to end, but
you still have to do the work to get there.

Subject: Re: Mindless ramblings (Formerly Speed vs.Strength)
Even in play fighting, a few eyes get poked out. (MOOOM HE HURT MEEEE!!!) In
any physical sport (and entertainment) people sustain injuries. Heck if
someone really wanted to win a match they would hit with the edge of the
chair. (I've been hit with a folded metal chair like they do it in
wrestling, didn't even knock the wind out of me) When you're throwing people
around (even when they're assisting you) people occasionally screw up and
land wrong. I'll bet those injuries were not intentional. Sheeez people!
It's entertainment wrestling!

Oh I agree totally. Totally fake, but entertaining (in a goofy funny sort of
way, I can't help laughing at the raw unbridled Testosterone of those
meatheads). Good entertainment, just like Streetfighter. To me Good
entertainment = Good entertainment, so I don't see much of a difference

True enough. A very good friend of mine spent time training to be a Pro
Wrestler. He stopped when he was told to take steroids, or quit. He took
the better path, in my opinion. Anyway, the moves aren't fake, they're more
like pulled punches. But yes, the moves are choreographed, if that's what
you mean.

Subject: Re: silly shiznit
Well, I've never had a really goofy NPC in my games (they're sort of run in
a high-crime, underworld-oriented, John Woo sort of style), but my players
give me all the strangeness I can handle. A LOONG time ago, when I first
started running the game, I had a Puma Animal Hybrid, and a Rat Animal
Hybrid. They were pretty all right whenever they got together, except
whenever I have an A.H. in my group, the animal they play is classified into
a "Predator" or "Prey" type. Makes more sense whenever a time comes for
them to exercise their animalistic urges. Guess which types these two fell
into. Anyway, the players came into a place that really messed with their
basic instincts. In my game, for every dot you have in A.H. background, you
lose one dot of humanity (you're further distanced away from human
rationale, and become more instinctive). Needless to say, they played a
really silly/dangerous game of "Cat and Mouse" when they both failed their
humanity rolls. BTW they both had background at four points. Ahh...the
price of being a goon.

Don't know, really. My hours for being online are odd and unusual, because
I don't have my own computer (my friends are pretty cool about me using
their computers for e-mail and surfing), as well as two part-time jobs.
One's nighttime cleanup at various sites, and the other's for a temp
services place. But...live cam? Huh? *scratching head like confused
chimpanzee*

Subject: Re: Streetfighter LARP
I know what you're talking about. We have that sort of same problem up
here. Unfortunately, it's also tied into experience that you receive. No
costume? Lose one point of XP. Sucks, in my opinion. Oh, well. Reason
why I play a Giovanni? Wear a suit, put on some minor face makeup, no
problem. You should have heard the arguments I got into when I played
Nosferatu! Mask of 1000 Faces, anyone?
Anyway, the vamps shouldn't try to take on Garou head to head. Of course
they're going to get their asses kicked. The most basic Ahroun Cliath with
Spirit of The Fray and a healthy amount of Gnosis is going to _whup_ a Vamp
with Celerity something fierce. Add in Razorclaws, and you've got a Leech
smorgasbord. Yes, I'm a puppy loyalist when it comes to WoD. The Leech who
uses his head when fighting Garou is very dangerous, though.
Whiny bastards, the lot of them. Piss on 'em (OK, that's a Garou opinion.
So sue me. :) )

Still a *really* cool effect though. I love it when the fights between
those two start up in the Alpha series!

Ok. I understand your message now.
Ill explain it this way, then.
In a fight, you either hit or you dont(its alittle more complex than that,
but) but how well you hit should also determine how well you harm someone.
This is the reason i said that it is a little more accurate. As for the
issue of realism, that cannot be avoided.
Were playing a game in which you try to get close to reality.

He has both....
Now Ill explain why its a waste.
If you look at the stats for them both I beleive they do EXACTLY the same
thing with the exception that hyper fist has lower requirments
and lesser cost to learn plus more positive benifets.

So if Shock has them both, why would he bother learning hundered hand slap?

Group: streetfighter Message: 3447 From: Rinaldo Gambetta Date: 11/13/1999
Subject: Re: "Friendly" Fight Seven: Gokiwa vs Mr. Military.
Time for new combat this time Mr.Military fighter from J.Scot Pittman
challenge Gokiwa the Shotokan guy from Chris Hoffmann, I see the fighter
sheets and this fight promisses a good impact, good luck to both fighters.

Gokiwa style: Shotokan Karate Country: Japan Player: Chris Hoffmann.

Appearance: A typical Japanese teenager in a dingy Gi. Look closer and
you'll see the vacant look in his eyes, the almost invisible grimance of
pain on his face, and how he cluches his stomach like something has been
riped from it.

Vs

Mr. Military style: Special Forces Country: Usa Player: J.Scot Pittman.

Appearance: Mr. Military, an afirian-american, dresses in a marine full
military dress uniform, and is very clean cut. However, he is almost always
seen smoking a smelly cigar. His expression is always one of disgust or
seriousness. Mr. Military stands 6 ft. exactly, with black, crew-cut hair,
deep brown eyes. He bears a scar of unknown origin that runs from the top of
the left side of his forehead all the way down the side of his face

Arena: The remains of Gouken dojo, nobody is near to look except rocks and
wind.

The fighters are 3 hexes from each other the ring bells and fight starts.

Move 1: Mr. Military move 1hex and make a Foot Sweep for his combo but only
hit air and Gokiwa move 1hex to make Dragon punch and hit air too.
Move 2: Mr. Military make a Back Flip Kick hit nothing and move 2 hexes back
and Gokiwa don´t move only block.
Move 3: Gokiwa move 3 hexes and make a jab punch for his combo and
Mr.Military don´t move only block the Special Forces guy receive: no damage
and combo is broken.
Move 4: Mr. Military Foot sweep (for his combo) is more faster than Gokiwa
Dragon punch and Shotokan guy falls on the ground and receive: 3 points of
damage.
Move 5: Gokiwa try to move but Backflip kick from Mr. Military is more
faster Gokiwa receive: 1 point of damage and move 3 hexes back, Mr.
Military move 2 hexes back.
Move 6: Mr. Military blocks and Gokiwa move 3 hexes and make a jab punch for
his combo but hit air.
Move 7: Mr. Military moves 1 hex and try to make a Foot sweep for his combo
but Gokiwa is more faster move 1 hex and make a Dragon punch, Mr. Military
receives: 5 points of damage and stuns!!!
Move 8: Gokiwa make a jab punch Mr. Military receives: 1 point of damage.
Move 9: Mr. Military blocks and Gokiwa make a jab punch for his combo
Mr.Military receives: no damage and Gokiwa combo is broken.
Move 10: Gokiwa try to make a Dragon punch but Mr.Military Foot sweep is
more faster and Gokiwa receives: 2 points of damage.
Mr. Military wins by time out.
Mr. Military will light a cigar and blow smoke down on his opponent.

Oh probably, but for me it is much more fun my way. Seems more dramatic that
way and as far as I know, it doesn't contradict the storyline or the spirit
of the game.

Actually the scar could have come from Ryu's fist, Knuckles can rip flesh on
a glancing blow, so a powerful Dragon punch might have ripped Sagat's skin
open.

Group: streetfighter Message: 3454 From: Chris Baker Date: 11/14/1999
Subject: Re: Mindless ramblings (Formerly Speedvs.Strength)
Yeah me too, What was meant by "Fake" is "The Fight", as in Ryu's "The
Fight". A real fight involves two people REALLY TRYING to beat the living
sweat out of each other using the most effective techniques in their arsenal
(well...unless he's showing off, often show-offs eat dirt). So that's what
was meant. If both people in a stage fight are choreographed, and the
outcome has been pre determined, It is not a Real Fight. It's a show.
