Subject: Re: Crossover characters (was W.O.D Styles)
Here it is, page 129 from SF:STG.

Regeneration
Prerequisites: Focus 3
Power Points: Kabaddi 1; Kung Fu, Native American Wrestling 2; Any 3.
Some Warriors are able to command their Chi to flow through injured areas of
their body, thereby healing themselves almost instantaneously. This
discipline is difficult to learn, requiring in-depth study of how Chi flows
through the body as well as the mental discipline to be able to route one's
Chi properly in the midst of battle.
System: When using this power, a fighter stops moving for a turn to focus
his Chi. The fighter may then spend points of Chi to restore lost Health
Levels. Each Chi point spent enables the fighter to regain one Health
Level. In one turn, a fighter can restore a number of Health Levels equal
to his Focus rating. For example, a fighter with a Focus rating of three
could spend up to three Chi to restore three Health Levels in one turn of
Regeneration.
Cost: See description above.
Speed: + 0
Damage: None
Move: None

Group: streetfighter Message: 3057 From: Steve Karstensen Date: 10/29/1999
Subject: Re: You don't want to know
Actually, this reminds me of one of the first characters I ever created
as an NPC. Even today her stats are pretty ridiculous by any standards,
although I had a backstory to account for it.

Basically what happened was, she was a Jonin ninja of near World Warrior
skill level who was assigned to track down a traitor of her clan. When
she finally met up with him, he fought back far harder than she
expected, and as a result, utterly destroyed her. Turned out that her
clan elders had ties to United Enforcement (remember them?) and pulled
in a favor from their cybernetics division. She was re-built
completely, and her already-formidable skills were enhanced by a few
million dollars worth of cybernetic implants.

Imagine if you will a fighter around the level of Chun Li (she was
originally Wu Shu, then when I got the Player's Guide I made her a
"proper" ninja), who then got enough hardware to double her special
maneuvers list.

Among her other obscenities are physical stats of 6/8/6, Wits of 6 or
higher (I forget), 7 Kick, 8 Athletics, Sword skill at 6 or so, and
enough maneuvers of all ranks to give Shock a run for his money.
Cybernetic claws, Cartwheel Kick, Yoga Teleport, Speed of the Mongoose,
Zen No Mind, Rekka Ken, Shock Treatment, Shrouded Moon, all of the
special ninja punches, and a load of others; nearly all Wu Shu/Ninjitsu
common maneuvers, some from Kung Fu, many generic, and a small bunch of
Focus maneuvers emulated through cybernetics.

Needless to say I rarely use her except for scare tactics, and none of
my players know that she has that many maneuvers. They just know that
every time she shows, there is a problem.

Far as the story goes, she's somewhat of a tac-nuke for her clan; they
are one of the only small ninja clans left in Japan that hasn't knuckled
under to Bison or gone into hiding, and it's because even though he
would never admit it, Bison knows that if the clan ever pointed her in
his direction and said "Kill", his head would be at the clan elder's
feet in less than a day no matter what he did to prevent it. As a
result, Bison occasionally asks favors or hires out members of the clan,
but he will never attempt to control them, content in their uneasy
truce.

The character herself is quite frightening; she is incapable of speaking
due to her reconstruction (most of her face from the bridge of the nose
down is gone, covered by metal in an MK/Kitana fashion) and only one of
her eyes is natural, the other being a black lens. Her claws are
retractable, she moves with blinding speed and accuracy (and grace,
naturally), but her mannerisms are dead and mechanically efficient.

Her name? Miyamoto Otaka.

There's a link at the bottom of every message that is recived VIA the SF

In case you can't find it:

There's lots of cool stuff there, like you can create a poll, and the vault
has files for us.
etc.
Unless Capcom says "THIS IS THE TRUTH!!" <which they never will> then all of
our work is speculation, mine included.

See ya.

Just a variation we used for a while till we found the
real one bascially we use to use actual regenration
i.e. deadpool kinda stuff. 1 chi activates it and it
keeps going till you healed fully, 1hp/3rounds of
non-kill damage i.e. punches,kicks etc..., or
1hp/round of kill damgae i.e. bullets, knifs etc...,
it could also regrow limbs stuff like that. I just
wanted to know basically if anyone used anything
similar.

No I don't think it was any of those it was one of the
new books or books coming out from white wolf. It
supposed to be about like all humans fighting back and
actually beating down the undead and such. All the way
from the gun toting psycho's to the sword wielding
masters, to the average joe on the street.

Subject: Chat Room
I am not sure if anybody ever uses it or not, but I'd like to try using
the chat room at the egroup to talk. Um I will make an attempt
tonight(tonight being saturday) at about 11:00pm Pacfic coast time
United states. I'll hang out for about 15 minutes if nobody shows I
just leave. I'll make another attempt next saturday night same time. We
don't have to talk about anything specifaclly just get together and
chat.

It sounds like you are referring to Hunter: the Reckoning. For whatever
reasons, normal everyday people are suddenly given a schizophrenic ability to
sense the supernaturals. Vampires, no matter what their appearance appear as
shambling corpses, werewolves probably look like something out of the howling
movies. And I get the impression they were all average joes.

I think it would depend on either who got the first blow in, or who had
the overall speed advantage. I can say for sure that her Cartwheel Kick
is instant death (base 12 move, 13 damage per hit, and we won't even
discuss how Speed of the Mongoose works with it). Her katana strikes
average 15-20 damage, and they go at speeds 8-10 or so. Then there's
the Rekka Kens... 'round Speed 11 for dizzy punch combos. And finally,
Cyborg option to use health and power those killer Shock Treatments and
Yoga Teleports if required. I'd wager your guy is somewhat similar...
so all other things being equal, the fight would go to the faster (or
luckier) fighter.

When I wait for new fighters from the list people, me and Chris Hoffmann agree to
make a friendly fight to show the people how is this tourmanent will work. I know maybe
there are some mistakes but I hope this run without problems. Robert Pascuttini when your
fighter is ready I make a test fight with you too.

Gokiwa- Shotokan Karate
Appearance: A typical Japanese teenager in a dingy Gi. Look closer and
you'll see the vacant look in his eyes, the almost invisible grimance of
pain on his face, and how he cluches his stomach like something has been
riped from it.

versus

Thomas Watson- Boxing
Apperance: 6’7” 180 lbs. Blond hair, green eyes, white skin and dresses a green overcoat,
boots.
Smiles all the time, except of course when he receive a hit.

Arena: A London dark Alley, with some people looking and bet in the fighters.

Fighters are ready 3 hexes from each other. The bell rings and the fight begins:

Move 1: Gokiwa try a jab punch but are too slow and Watson see a gold chance and hit
Light jab punch (A rule I see and like: Boxers have six punches) he cause one point of
damage and begin a combo manuver.

Move 2: Watson are faster enough and Gokiwa don´t break his combo with his Dragon Punch
(He don´t have time to use it) and receive 5 points of damage and stuns!!!

Move 3: Watson Blocks and Gokiwa recovers.

Move 4: Gokiwa try a jab punch but Watson Rekka Ken are more faster and hits the Shotokan
guy, Gokiwa receive 2 points of damage.

Move 5: Gokiwa Dragon punch are more slow than Watson Rekka Ken and the Shotokan guy
receive: 4 points and Knock out.

Watson wins by Knockout. At finish of fight Watson helps Gokiwa to stand up and say to
him how good is fight with a honorable fighter like him.

That´s all folks, if someone want a test fight too or enter in Gateway tournament just
send a email with your fighter to me.

Hey, I like the way this turned out. You can count me in. I must've
missed the rules in the shuffle, so if you could E-mail me the fighter
creation and combat rules via personal E-mail (skarsten@...) I'd
appreciate it. Thanks!

How...embarrassing.

I'll go hunt Akuma _next_ year, maybe.

we're not *completely* dead.

I, however, am not at all well.

To make a long story short, there's been this big project at work that's
kept me away from my computer at home. I haven't had a day off in a
month, and a few days ago I worked thirty hours straight. Needless to
say, my E-mail box doesn't get much of a workout anymore. I even
subscribed to the list at work so I could at least read new messages,
even if I couldn't respond.

The fact that the new version of my Quake 2 mod is now three weeks late
because of this is irking me greatly, especially since the only reason I
haven't released it is I have *THREE* pages left of the manual to type.
THREE! AAAGH!

However, one good thing has come of the past month. I've gotten
engaged. Okay, two. Yesterday, I got an enormous raise.

Anyway, that's where I've been. Somebody help me. :p

At the moment I just need more players, and I can begin the tournanent at
this moment I don´t have enough fighters. Just send a rank 1 fighter no
merits and flaws, and hybrid and cyborgs backgrounds are valid.

Just send a rank 1 fighter {no
merits and flaws, and hybrid and cyborgs backgrounds are valid. }

Does this mean hybird and cyborgs are or are not valid? You could interpret
the sentence two different ways.

This is true. Also, the normal RPGer is so involved with his games that he
also almost never has a real job. If you have successfully obtained the

savior that has come to lead the way to a better place for all of us.

I think they´re extra backgrounds, if is true they´re valid and elemental too.

Does this mean hybird and cyborgs are or are not valid? You could interpret
the sentence two different ways.

Sorry for interruppting but....

Well sure if you were a speed freak. I remember a time in a session
where we actually had Vega on our asses for about 3 game sessions in a
row. Finally I confronted him with a slow old Sumo player (I later
retired him he was just to slow and after this confrontation was
constantly being hunted for by Vega's Henchman) Now this Sumo had a 6
for Stam, 4 for Dex and 6 for Str and a 7 Block. (Keep in mind I was
in a team of quick fighters...so being slow I had a lot of defensive
things) I remeber what happened exactly. I was in Earthskin form I
think I had like 3 rounds left, so I played my Sanhe and Toughskin
cards. (Legal in our system). For a grand total of 22 Soak points.
Vegas Cartwheel was at a -2 Damage because of the skin advantage.

Anyways to speed things up Vega hit me and took 11 out of 14 dice in
damage just for hitting me. This pissed him off so he ended his kick.
Next round I blocked he tried Choke Throwing me. Unaffective.
Earthskin. After the Block (Block to 100 Hand Slap combo) I unleashed
with a hundered hand slap And knocked him Severely silly with two in
Aggro Damage.

Remember this I guess and a lot of SF like my friends forget this one,
but a block after another Block is considered Instantaneous and your
opponent can be speed 15 and you still are faster.

Thanx for taking the time here guys.

Hmmmm why don't you read column 2 line 19 on page 137 of the SF book.
I'm sure you would be suprised. The point of my statement was this
little quote off that page. Most players forget it and that's all I
was trying to get at. Trust me that fight I wrote about is still
argued about but the guy who was running the game had to agree that
everything before the second block was legal by game standards. The
second block is instant. So read the line that I gave you in WW9500.
Hope you understand what's going on now.

Thanx.

Thats true. If you block for 2 rounds in a row, it is considered that you
are STILL blocking and automatically get the highest speed. Or something
like that.

Its not cumulative, its considered the same move. The character hasnt
stopped blocking. He is still blocking therefore he is automatically
blocking. I dont have my book on me so I cant quote it. Anyone have their
book on them?

Well Andy, I've always prided (prode?) myself on being as non-nerdly as
possible. One *can* enjoy intellectual pursuits and still develop
socially.

Although, given the cross-section of people attending any RPG convention
I ever went to, your hypothesis is well-founded.

CONGRATS! Good news steve, we're all MORE than happy for ya....
Except me.

Wait...if you're getting married, that must mean that you know a girl!
This
is a problem.
You see, i'm a bio-major pre professional/pre med...with and emphasis in
Zoology have aspirations of a behaviorist.
Through years of careful observation i was able to make a hypothesis
that
the RPG nerd was not acctually able to make contact with the female of
the
species.
These new findings seem to contradict my theory.
However it's just based on hearsay, and untill I have evidence I can
retain
my hypothesis.!!!!
