It's MUGEN. A Fan service game where you can put in any characters
you want. I'd wager that's an edited version of Akuma with a new moveset.

Yeah, there are several. I did a google search one time and got a few

I even used a few for some themes for my computer.

If you want the music to the games, gamemusic.com is a good
place to buy them. And http://gh.ffshrine.org/ has oodles
of the music to the SF anime and games for downloading. I
do think that you should go on to support the artists who
made the great music we hear in the games, but I see
nothing wrong with downloading an album, liking it, buying
the cd, and then keeping the mp3s you downloaded and
dropping them onto your mp3 player.

That was a pretty nice site. But I was looking more for the sound
effects of the game. Like 'round one fight', 'hadoken', the
background cheering when you win on kens stage, things like that. I
know there are plenty of sites online that have them, I just can't
happen to find any.

I made this boxing interval timer program where you can modify the
sounds for the start bell, end bell and warning bell. These wavs
would be fun to put in there.

Many of the soundtracks over at the site also have sound
effects tracks from the game, including the voiceovers.

I lost a lot of work in a HD crash sadly.

When I get back to work on this again I'll have to do a lot over
again from the ground up.

Things are crazy at work now + Neverwinter Nights 2 is coming out
soon, so free-time is a factor. It is definately something I want to
get up and running though.

Is anybody reading SNK vs Capcom?

I got volumes 1 to 4 this weekend at my local comic shop but havent read
them yet.
Was wondering if anyone has read it and what they thought about it.

Also, since we are all fans of a martial arts rpg I figured there may be
some actual fans of mixed martial arts.
Anyone here watch UFC?

Thanks,

I've recently stumbled upon the Ebooks of all the Street Fighter Books
made by White Wolf. Since it's been discontinued and they are
incredibly hard to fine I don't think they would mind me sharing them.

I can make a torrent to share them with everyone or maybe a
megaupload. I can also send them to you via Instant Messegers. I
have Yahoo and MSN.

If anyone is interested let me know. I'd love to see this group
ressurected and more Fan work made for the Street Fighter RPG!

Megaupload is the best overall way, and the way I host a
lot of anime series for download. With torrents we have to
worry about how many seeds are available, and with ims we
have to coordinate a meet. If you megaupload the stuff, you
can just post some links on the mailing list and not have
to worry about the logistics necessary for the other
methods.

Funny you should mention that.

I just found this group. I played Street Fighter RPG way back in the day, and ran it on and off a couple of times in the few years after it's cancellation. I've recently de-mothballed it to break in some new (rather young) gamers, as I think the setting is flexible enough to be somewhat sanitized for younger players. I was hoping there'd be some online resources, but only a couple of things seem to still exist.

So I'd like to ask... who out there is still playing?

I have to admit I've never played but I've always been
a fan of the White Wolf style of Storytelling Games
and with Street Fighter it's even better.

I would love to work on a fan book possibly dedicated
to Street Fighter 3. I love the idea behind the
Street Fighter rpg but I hate how it seems so focused
to Destorying Shadoloo is kinda limiting.

Still playing? At the moment, no. However, I've been running the game off
and on for about 10 years now and taken an indefinite hiatus. Back when
this group was first founded and had the likes of Steve Karstensen in it and
such, it was a very active one. When we had a pseudo-central location at
the Yahoo! groups there was even a vault to handle fan submissions. I had
created some moves and styles for both elementals and 'mainstream' fighters
because I'd felt that there were things missing from the books mainly due to
the fact that, timewise, they stopped at Super Streetfighter 2 and left out
some moves from Super Turbo that were quite valid aside from Super
maneuvers. If there's any interest, I'll see what I can find of the created
stuff I'd made.

Agreed, plus winrar handles a bunch of file formats whereas
winzip seems much more limited in scope.

From my own personal experience, winrar works on all .zip or .rar

By the way, the address that is listed below isn't the link for the file

Not to mention that WinRAR is based on a more efficient implementation of
the Huffman algorithm.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I am the Cecil, a twenty-six year
old American male recently of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

I've never been fortunate enough to play Street Fighter-- though I've
been able to play a street fighter in a very weird WoD crossover-- but
I've long regarded it as one of the best games produced by White Wolf.
Even running simulated combats, I've admired the way the system works.

It had been a few years since I've managed to look at the books-- my
roommate's copies turned up missing-- but I've gotten another
opportunity to do so and now I'm waiting on my own copies to show up
so I can start planning a good game. (I still haven't found a copy of
Contenders.) Since I'm just getting back into the game after several
years, I was delighted to discover that there's still a dedicated fan
base.

I'm looking forward to discussion.

I talked a few players a long time ago into playing and it was one of the best times in my rpg experience I have had. Most players will not give it a chance, however, and that is too bad. The feeling is so close to the actual combat in the video game it's really incredible.

The original issue that brought this question to mind was the Ler Drit

wondering if it would be unseemly or unbalancing to add Levitation and
Yoga Teleport to Ler Drit.

Of course, Akuma's teleportation suggests that Yoga Teleport might have
a place in Shotokan as well.

Which leads me to wonder if it would be either unseemly or unbalancing
to update other styles similarly, based on game or comics material
released after 1995-- or if some other game mechanic should be used to
reflect them.

Like you, I have never role-played the game...but if I did, I think I would
add the following ammendment to the rule.

Any player can have almost any maneuver (Storyteller's discretion) but must
pay one point more than the maximum point cost for that maneuver.

You can't tell me that just because I choose to practice Capoeira, I'm
completely physically and mentally imcapable of learning to teleport, right?

My 2 cents

I would actually make a Demon style to simulate Akuma, M. Bison, Evil
Ryu/Ken/Sakura/Chuck Norris/etc. This style would contain most of the damaging
focus maneuvers (no ghost walk or healing), and would be a second style for
those characters. Power point costs would be quite low (because it's the quick
and easy path), Fireball might cost as little as two depending on my write-up.
I would also remove Psycho Crusher, Psychic Rage, and Mind Control from Ler
Drit (It's plenty powerful without them), putting them under the Demon style.
Psychokinetic Channeling would be available to both Ler Drit and Demon style.
This would mean that Revenants and Theons have Demon style, but not Ler Drit,
not that it matters since they don't really advance. It also creates the
possibility of non-evil Ler Drit practitioners and opens up Ler Drit as a
player style at the GM's option.

How bout a background?

None of the moves in question seem to have much to do with style.
M. Bison does his because he's mixing his martial arts with psycho-
power (aka meteor-power) and Akuma's moves are different because of his
killing intent/demonic/evil/dark-hadou/whatever

It could give you access to new moves the way elemental background does.

Speaking of the New WoD, I was never really happy with the
replacements they provided for the Old WoD Clans, Tribes,
etc. I wish this new one had better rules for keeping much

Right. there was a huge stink raised about it. There was a letter posted from White Wolf saying that they could not give permission for such things, and the idea was pretty heavily attacked when I mentioned it years ago after first joining the group. Don't get me wrong, though, I think they should be avalible.

I am on your side, I wanted to share them as well.

But the last time it came up I am pretty sure something was said
along those lines (not to do it here or the group could be closed) is
the only reason I mention it. It's still a copyrighted work.

Heh, maybe they're afraid of people seeing that their new
work is not as good as their old products ^_^ (just a
joke).

It's still copyrighted. Oh nos!! It will remain a copyrighted work until the
heat death of the universe. Seriously, nothing will enter the pubic domain
within any of our lifetimes. Most likely not any of our grandchildren's
lifetimes.

If it's ever going to be shared, now's a better time than most since there are
still fans willing to play the game and White wolf has abandoned the core
mechanics for something different.

Seriously, nothing would make me happier to hear that the master of the latest
Disney movie was stolen by a group of people dressed like [insert name of some
people America is currently oppressing] and thrown into Boston harbor.

Ninja live by code of Honor. Magical Girl live by code of Love. This lead to many disaster and much destruction of urban area.

Honor much safer.

As the admin and the creator of this list, I really dont want White Wolf
coming at me with their lawyers saying Im helping the pirating of their old
games.
So the official line is that it will not be hosted on this message group.

Now, if two people who meet on this group and Person A asks if there is a
pdf of the games available and Person B send them an e-mail privately off
list, well, then who am i to say they cant do that? ;)

Seriously I would love for this game to be in the hands of more fans. But I
won't host it here. Sorry.

Subject: Capcom Japan vs. Capcom USA canon
There are some significant differences between the two, and the
licensing deals for the original STG and for the-- sadly defunct--
Capcom World Tournament both required that the publishers use the
American canon.

One thing that caught my eye was the difference in styles. Blanka is
not stated to be a Capoeira fighter in Japan... and his moves don't
really resemble the art. Ken, Ryu, and Akuma are given the unique
fighting style of Ansatsuken which by description seems like it should
be rare and special, like Majestic Crow Kung Fu.

What's the general take around here about canon? Do you prefer the
Japanese or the American version, or do you follow the comics, manga,
or anime? Do you use the canon and original characters at all?

C.

I had read about Ansatsuken being the art of Ryu, Ken, and Akuma, but
I hadn't ever heard that Blanka was anything but a Capoeira dancer.
I personally prefer the American canon thus far; it just feels
more 'accessible' to me.

Most of the martial arts have two states, the jutsu (doing
of the act) and the do (philosophy behind the art). For
example, in kenjutsu the people practice and fence with
real katana vs kendo when they use shinai or boken (bamboo
and wooden practice swords). I saw Ansatsuken as being part
of the older tradition of martial arts as a way to kill
unarmed.

I try to follow the Japanese canon, and I love the original
undedited SF2 anime movie. I also am fond of Udon's comics
and the Darkstalkers stuff.

These days I've been working on a Capcom collection mugen
game. I envisioned it as a sequel to SF Alpha III and
Darkstalkers III, so I need to learn how to write openings
and ending scenes for characters.
