Since Living Room Games isn't going to be making Capcom World Tournament,
has anyone else thought of using a different game to run a Street Fighter
like game? I'm talking about other games besides the old White Wolf one.

I think I'm going to try using Weapons of the Gods from Eos Press to run a
contemporary martial arts game.
I don't actually have the book yet, but its been ordered. Anyone else try
something similar?

Other possibilities I was thinking of are:

Feng Shui
D20 Modern with the Martial Arts Mayhem book from Green Ronin
BESM

Anyone else have any ideas?

Exalted 2nd - You would have to ditch a lot of the 'rule a nation' charms
except for Bison (and maybe Karin), but with some retooling Exalted could be
the next best thing to a SF:STG 2nd.

Aberrant - Most of the World Warriors would be excellently portrayed as 15-25
point novas. If you have access to the too damn rare Player's guide, you could
use the Psychic rules for Bison and Rose (It wouldn't make much sense for
bison, since Psychics don't have taint, but you could).

Dragonfist - An excellent Fantasy China setting using DnD 3rd. finding it is
the tricky bit, as it used to be a free download of the TSR/Wizards website,
but I can't seem to find it anywhere now.

Adventure! - I'm referring to the non D20 version, mostly because I've never
seen the D20 one. This would be great for a low tech and/or prohibition
campaign. Ditch the arbitrary classifications for knacks and let people pick
and choose as they will.

Star Wars D20 - Admitedly, this would be really apropriate for a Star
Gladiator campaign. Just replace Force with Plasma, and you're practically all set.

Honor much safer.

Cyberpunk has a good martial arts system but it is not as high fantasy as
streetfighters because it is more gritty but the system is very simple and
could work well provided you converted the manovers so they would give bonus
or initative penalties depending on how you did.

Use main rules and an expansion book called Pacific Rim which would give you
a good quicker and more realistic system.

It is about the best one about but it would need filling out as the system
is designed for fast gritty combat rather than storyteller type
streetfighter stuff - it could be changed though.

Sorry it's taking so long, I am severely overworked right now on the
job-front.

I did manage to code most of the forum this weekend though. (the one
you'll actually play on that lets you roll damage etc) Haven't
touched character creation again yet though.

I really don't think Feng Shui will cut it. I can see where you're going
with that, but I really feel that Feng Shui is way more, oh I don't know,
Wuxia than I really perceive Street Fighter to be. Of course, it just
might be that I'm trying to preserve the specialness of Feng Shui - I
enjoy it immensely (as well as Street Fighter: The Original System) and
try to keep them apart.

I'm curious about the d20 Iron Heroes system, accruing special points to
use for pulling off bigger maneuvers 'down the chain', so to speak. It
won't be out-of-the-box compatible, however.

The d6 System should work, but in essence that's more or less just trading
one die (d6) for another (d10) - but it might be easier dealing with
prerequisites and suchlike.

The Shadowrun 3rd ed roleplaying game had an extended martial arts bit in
either Cannon Companion or Man & Machine - I forget - but it didn't really
feel 'Street Fighter'-ish. Shadowrun's more like a low-powered supers RPG
at any rate - and yes, I know there's a 4th ed released, but I don't know
that system at this time :-)

For me, though, I'm afraid it'll be the SF: TOS system forever.

Let's be honest, though - building special maneuvers using the Hero game
engine is a lot of work, though the end result plays fairly well and
fairly fast.

I know PHP and MySQL well....and believe me, when I can shed some other
personal projects and get some free time, I'll be the first one to step up

Perhaps when my daughter is 18 and moves out......

I'll touch base in 16 years and let you know.

Heeeey, Tommyyyy!

I have a ton of miscellaneous Street Fighter files, but I don't have
anything that is labeled "Turbo". Though, if you could tell me what you're
looking for within that file, I could probably find it for you.

By the way, and unrelated (kind of), have you checked out mysonabsalom's
MSHAG/Street Fighter conversion (though, the word "conversion" isn't truly
accurate)? We had a long running discussion on how it should work and in the
end we never had a final answer on how to approach it. Then one day he
announced that he was almost done with it. Well, he didn't really
announcement - he quietly posted it on his site. His site is at:
http://www.freewebs.com/mshaglibrary/Downloads.htm

Scroll down towards the bottom, or just search "Street Fighter" on the page.
I'd love to hear your input on it.

Group: streetfighter Message: 15796 From: Kong Xian Mu Date: 5/12/2006
Subject: No one defeats Brutalo!
Struck by the impending badassitude of my current SF PC, I thought
I'd share my combos (current and future) from my Sambo wrestler,
Brutalo.

Like all my characters, after one or two high-powered maneuvers are
acquired, they're used as bread and butter while I raise Physical
Attributes. Brutalo is currently Physically 5/5/5, with Punch and
Athletics 5, Grab 4, and Block 2.

Block to Turbo Spinning Clothesline (DIZZY)

This is an obvious one. The Speed on the TSC is such that it's
conventially unblockable and can only be interrupted by XXX to
Block/Tiger Knee combos. It's a great one, but an opponent that
knows you have this combo isn't going to close on you once he
realizes that you're playing a straight Block.

Turbo Spinning Clothesline to Turbo Spinning Clothesline (DIZZY)

This is used for two separate purposes. The first is when fighting
masses of goons: with a high Athletics you can eventually stun
almost every goon around you, no matter how many there are. The
second is that you can use this combo to an opponent you've managed
to pinch into a Sustained Hold.

Move to Head Bite to Head Bite

I love this one. If you've got your opponent beat on Dex or Wits,
it essentially gives you two separate high Speed shutdown
maneuvers. The Head Bites go on Speed +3, making it tie with Jump.
Since its a Sustained Hold, it means that its like a Knockdown in
that your opponent loses his action for the rest of the turn, only
there's also the chance that your opponent escapes at the end of the
round. If you're successful, you can then go to your Turbo Spinning
Clothesline to Turbo Spinning Clothesline (DIZZY) combo - there's a
high chance that you won't even have to execute the second move of
that combo to get your stun. The follow-on Head Bite is golden: no
one ever expects it unless they've seen you use it before.

A variant that I haven't bothered to pick up is Jumping Strong to
Head Bite for use against Fireballers. If I get the experience, I'd
rather go with Flying Body Spear to Head Bite, but its essentially
the same effect: move in quick (dodging projectiles) then pounce and
chew.

Block to Improved Pin
Block to Siberian Bear Crusher to Head Bite

Brutalo has enough experience for the maneuvers and combos
associated with only one of Improved Pin or Siberian Bear Crusher,
and I haven't decided which is better. Both are high mobility
combos designed to trap your opponent in a Sustained Hold so that
you can hit them with the Turbo Spinning Clothesline to Turbo
Spinning Clothesline (DIZZY) combo.

The first, Block to Improved Pin, is nice in that it has a high
chance of success (65% or so), but in itself it only represents +2
damage. That's not so high and so you're really relying on the
follow-on Turbo Spinning Clothesline to Dizzy your opponent.

The second, Block to Siberian Bear Crusher to Head Bite, has a
slightly lower chance of total success (where the opponent is locked
into a Sustained Hold at the end of the combo) against an optimal
opponent (roughly 50%). Additionally, the Head Bite could be iffy
against a high Wits opponent and so I'm not sure I'm going to go
with this one. However, this combo does +3 damage twice, with a
good chance of success on each one and therefore I'm inclined to
take it. Plus its a lot more Sambo-esque than using Improved Pin.

Siberian Suplex to Turbo Spinning Clothesline (DIZZY)
Siberian Suplex to Head Bite to Head Bite

Both of these combos are designed to exploit opponents in Sustained
Holds, and are the higher-end versions of the earlier Turbo Spinning
Clothesline to Turbo Spinning Clothesline combo. I don't have the
Siberian Suplex yet, but it's not as high a priority since I have a
good Turbo Spinning Clothesline.

The combos are based around the Speed loss from knockdown. The
knockdown description says that the only way to avoid the Speed
penalty is if you suffered the knockdown prior to making your
attack, meaning that otherwise you suffer the -2 Speed next turn.
If you're in a Sustained Hold, you can't attack, and therefore you
can't avoid the Speed penalty if you're knocked down. It's a pretty
devastating mechanic and I'm not certain that it's fair, but its
what's written and that's what I'm playing with until told otherwise.

So, you only use these combos from a Sustained Hold. You Siberian
Suplex your hapless victim, knocking them down and giving them -2
Speed. That means that the first combo's Turbo Spinning Clothesline
is effectively on Speed +5, beating a Block; the second combo's Head
Bite is effectively on Speed +5 as well, easily trumping a Jump.

If the opponent can be finished off, you use the first combo. If
the opponent cannot be finished, you play the second combo.

What you can note is that the second combo (as well as combo of
Knockdown to high-Speed Sustained Hold) is unescapable, assuming you
can get your opponent into a maintained Sustained Hold and you can
beat the Speed tie-break. In fact, anytime you get your opponent
into any Sustained Hold, you can default to the Siberian Suplex to
Head Bite to Head Bite combo, resetting it back to its first move
after you successfully Sustain a Head Bite.

An additional feature of the second combo is that even if the
opponent has Kippup (its so cheap and useful - get it already!), you
can still get that first Head Bite on them.

...

I'm still trying to figure out what other combos Brutalo will
eventually get, but the ones listed above that I don't have plus
increases to Health and the possibilities of Strength or Dexterity
of 6 means that there's about 100+ xp to be spent, which I doubt
I'll have the chance to acquire anyway.

Here is an e-mail I got from Living Room Games, a reply to an e-mail to him
about a year ago - well before we all found out LRG wasn't going to publish
Street Fighter.

Anyways, I thought I'd share.

Hi,

I've been eagerly waiting for the release of your Street Fighter
roleplaying games for about two years. I wouldn't be e-mailing you, asking
when we might get to finally hold the books in our hands, except your
website continues to say "Coming Soon" and "TBA". :(
Please: any hint as to when? Or what has been the delay?

Hey Nathan,
Sorry for the delay in replying but I've been having e-mail problems since
the beginning of the year. I've got over 5000 e-mails to go through. :(
To answer your question, I'm afraid that Capcom has been put on extended
hiatus. Our license with Capcom ran out before we could get the first book
completed, and it doesn't look like we can afford to get an extension on the
license. The RPG gaming industry is having the worst slump in history and it
is just no longer possible for us to afford to publish books the way we (and
everyone else) has been doing. We're about to have our yearly board meeting
and we will be deciding the future of LRG. If it appears that we will be
closing our doors, we'll put up news on the web page.
Again, sorry for the delay in responding.

That makes me feel pretty bummed. If we can get the
background the book offered, let's put up the stats in
Fuzion, Unisystem, and the old Storyteller setting.

Subject: SOTA Street Fighter figures vote!
Hey Guys(I know there aren't any chicks on this list),

This is to let all my Street Fighting friends know that you can vote for the
next wave of SOTA's excellent Street Fighter figures to be produced!!

Write the good people at www.action-figure.com who have set up an e-mail
address for us to vote:

streetfighter@...

These are the contenders:

----------------------------------------
Category 1

E.Honda- E. Honda trained his entire life to become the greatest sumo
wrestler of all time. Honda became upset that the rest of the world does not
take sumo seriously, and vowed to prove that sumo wrestlers are the greatest
fighters in the world.

Hugo- Hugo was a former member of the Mad Gear gang. When it was destroyed
by Cody, Guy and Hagger he hears about a Street Fighting tournament. He
joins it, along with his manager and former Mad Gear member Poison, to prove
to the world he is a worthy fighter.

Alex- Alex entered the third World Warrior tournament because its sponsor,
Gill, had seriously injured his best friend and father figure Tom, even
though Tom had told him Gill had won fairly. Alex won every match and then
faced Gill. Although he defeated Gill, Alex did not have a chance to kill
him, and he went home, to find Tom fully recovered. Thoughts of revenge no
longer clouding his mind, Alex encountered Ryu, who defeats Alex in battle
but encourages him to become a better fighter.

Yun/Yang- Twin brothers entered the third World Warrior tournament to show
their skills. They later found and fought Gill, who appreciated their effort
and granted them leadership of their town. They passionately turned down his
offer, since they only fought him to stop his maniacal plans.

----------------------------------------
Category 2

Cody- In the original Final Fight, Cody teams up with Guy and The Mayor of
Metro City, Mike Haggar to save Jessica (Cody's girlfriend and Haggar's
daughter) from the leader of the Mad Gear gang. Later, Cody is set up for
the crimes of Mad Gear member Poison and the many street fights he was
taking part in. In Street Figher Alpha 3, Cody broke out of prison after a
riot ensued and eventually crosses paths with Guy again. Cody insists he is
no hero and lives for fighting and goes on his own way.

Charlie- A member of a secret elite military team, Charlie co-piloted a
special mission into Thailand along with his long-time friend Guile. The
mission backfired, and Charlie and Guile were captured. After escaping the
jungle prison, Charlie now seeks the force behind the unrest in Thailand.

Dan- Dan's father, Go Hibiki, was a rival of Sagat. Go put out Sagat's eye
and Sagat killed him in retaliation. Because of this, Dan sought revenge on
Sagat, training to become a fighter, but was expelled from Gouken's dojo
when his motivations were learned. Dan thus developed his own style called
Saikyou-ryuu, or, ironically, "The Strongest Style", despite the weakness of
his techniques. Dan believed he had achieved his revenge by defeating Sagat
(who had actually thrown the fight), and turned his attention to promoting
his school, even to the point of offering exercise videos and correspondence
courses.

Sean- The events of how Sean became Ken's student are somewhat unclear, but
what is known is that Sean's main reason for entering the third World
Warrior tournament was to prove to Ken that he had become a much greater
student then he had been the previous year. Although skilled in his fighting
style, Sean lacked the discipline and experience to make it too far as a
fighter in the U.S. championship tournament, being knocked out in the
preliminaries.

----------------------------------------
Category 3

R. Mika- Mika's main goal is for her to be "Star of the Ring". To try to
accomplish this, Mika decided she would travel abroad and battle famous
street fighters even before she made her official debut. During that time
she met Zangief, a wrestler she is a huge fan of. Zangief inspired her as a
pro wrestler to train hard for the next time they meet.

Elena- Elena is a princess in an African tribe that has a cultural tradition
of fighting. Her fighting style is Capoeira. Elena hates fighting, but
continues competing to please her father. She wants to travel around the
world, meeting new friends along the way.

Maki- In Final Fight 2, a new version of the Mad Gear gang kidnapped the
37th Bushin Master and his daughter, (Maki's father and sister
respectively). With the help of professional wrestler and then mayor of
Metro City, Mike Haggar and Carlos (a sword-wielding boarder that stayed
with Haggar), she traveled around the world and defeated the group's leader,
Retu. Maki takes on Guy in SF Alpha 3 with hope to become the 40th Bushin
master.

Alpha Chun Li- Secretly pursuing the movements of Shadowloo, the
international smuggling operation, Chun Li fights bravely, unmindful of
personal danger. The trail of the criminal organization has lead her to the
tournament and she now believes that one of the Grand Masters may have been
responsible for the death of her father.

----------------------------------------
Category 4

Thin Bison- Ever since he emerged to lead the internal criminal organization
Shadowloo, the world has been awed by the incredible power at his command.
Seen as the master of evil, Bison rules over his empire with an iron fist.
Preferring to let his underlings do most of the dirty work, Bison only
unleashes his powerful psychic ability when absolutely necessary.

Urien/Gill- Urien is the inferior brother of Gill and tried to claim the
leadership of his organization, the Illuminati. When he finally succeeded,
he learned that there was an Emperor outranking him, his brother Gill. Now
Urien still longs to overthrow Gill by creating his own army with the G
Project. He kidnapped one of the children Chun-Li looks after so she could
get back in shape. While his brother wields fire and ice, he can wield
lightning and make his skin metal.

Geki- Geki, who was born in Japan, is a ninja that enters the first World
Warrior tournament to test his skill. He is a master of Ninjitsu that uses
shurikens, teleportation and a claw on his left hand to defeat his
opponents.

Oro- Oro believes he is the world's strongest fighter. He is mysterious,
very old and fights with only one free arm for fear that his power will kill
his opponents. Oro is searching out a warrior worthy to receive the secret
of his power so it does not die with him.

Got it? Good! For all you Kabaddi fans out there (both of you) You'll be
happy to know that Dhalsim is already locked in for production. Now what
you do to vote is pick ONE character from each catagory and list them, with
your name and e-mail, like so:

Joe Streetfighter- Myfaceisbeautifulbutmyfistsaremerciless@...

Category 1: E.Honda

Category 2: Charlie

Category 3: Elena

Category 4: Thin Bison

See easy as losing to Sagat! Feel free to copy my votes, and even if you
don't, vote for Elena. I need more hot action figures!

Don't they all ready have a Alex figure? And why the heck would we want a
thin Bison? And I hope that is just a descriptive word to describe the
figure, and that wouldn't actually be printed on the box. ;)

Subject: Running a Street Fighter RPG
Im planning on running a Street Fighter RPG via OpenRpg (found at
www.openrpg.com) if anyone is interested.

Its titled 'Street Fighter Super Cops' having the general feel of
the Hong Kong movie SF Future Cops. All characters will be begining
with the premise that each one was recruited into an international
crime fighting orginaization ::name to be determined:: due to their
extreme martial prowness and high honor. The sole mission is to take
the antagonists down but they want them alive. So there will be a
variety of stories spanning across the globe in a pulp hero style.
You also have free reign to challenge yourself in becoming a better
martial artist and thus are sponsored for finding senseis with
hidden techniques and entering tournaments, etc.

Thats pretty much a rough outline as of now. If i get support id
like to start character generation and prolouges maybe this weekend
(june 9 or 10) then start playing the following week. Ill need a
hiatus for two weeks (ill be traveling) then get back in the
following week. Either reply on the message board or drop me a line.
peace.

im looking for at least 3-4 players, if anyone else is interested. But
dont forget to get Openrpg at www.openrpg.com beings im using that as
the main communication device and the character sheets are done with
that program. Its free btw.

None the less the game should be fun for all those interested. Ive
personally lived in japan so when the characters go there ill use all
true places and try to get a real feel for the area. Albeit thatll be
after several sessions. I havent been to egypt but i expect the
chronicle to go in that direction also. Same with africa.

Thanks to all those interested.

with me being very inexperienced. Would that bother anyone else? I do learn

Looks like one of our members got hit with a virus as he has been a

As you may know, I'm working on an online tool for playing sf.
Sorry it's taking so long, life is hectic.

I recently decided instead of a rigid character generator you can just
fill in your sheet however and let the DM check it. This is to allow
for house rules etc, since not everyone plays strictly by the book,
and in fact, everyone doesn't even enterpret the book the same way.

This will take a lot of the work out of it so hopefully I can get that
rolling soon. (Later I will probably add in the character generator as
an option to speed up character creation if you don't mind no support
for house rules)

Just thought I'd give you a little update on that.

Projects like that are always fun and educational, but if you check
out www.openrpg.com they have a roubust online tabletop rpg program
thats free to use and download.
You can also create character sheets (i made one called
worldwarrior.xml at http://openrpg.wrathof.com/cgi-
bin/repository.cgi?system=WHITEWOLF&head=WHITE%20WOLF) and there are
ways to edit the program, places to display maps and minitures, etc.
If youre looking for a way to play online with friends across the
country (world?) table top style, id recommend that. But if you want
to put your programming skills to the test, then by all means, ive
reinvented the wheel several times and normally prefer my programs
anyway.

Im also in no way associated with openrpg, i just liked their
program and thought it could help here.

Yeah open RPG is realtime (correct me if im wrong) which strikes me as
hard to coordinate time-wise, this will be more like a msg board, play
by post, but with more street-fighter specific features than your
standard play by post.

Yes, they're quite good. There should be a new trade
paperback out one of these days. I think they do as good a
job as anybody could at making sure each character gets
plenty of face time.

It's one of the only comics I follow. It's great imho.

I like how they tackle the tough issues like the doll project, or
guiles relationship with his family, delta red etc (the non-standard
stuff) instead of just focusing on 1 characters bison/revenge story.

the art is top notch too.

not throw one up for SF while I'm at it?"

So here it is:

http://www.sfrpg.com/wiki/

Feel free to contribute.

This is the only wiki software I've ever used btw, so if you think
another one would be better I'm open to suggestions.

Sweet. I'll go through my Udon comics later on and will
contribute some factoids on the characters with proper
citation.

I just noticed an error from the main book while entering data into my
database (for the playing online thing)

The list of maneuvers available to "Any" on pg 103 is missing Slide
Kick and Double Hit Knee.

I also noticed these 2 were missing off of some of the online lists
(presumably the error was copied over)

I went to http://youtube.com today and found a video on a four way that
I didn't know that Street Fighter actually did. You can call me "Behind
the times" but I've just never seen a four way before in a match.

I noticed in one of the videos that Gouken, "Holy" Ken (I can't
understand what part of him was "Holy" in that version,) Ryu, and Akuma.
I found the video at http://youtube.com/watch?v=6DM-3Rwemys&search=Gouken

I don't know whether I should take the "Street Fighter Alpha
Generations" movie literally to Gouken's appearance or not but I noticed
that Gouken was a young guy with a full head of hair and got killed by
Akuma (If I'm not mistaken) in the movie, yet in the game he's old and
bald with the brown suit.

Another thing that I'm confused about with Gouken (Again about Street
Fighter Alpha Generations) is that in the Street Fighter Alpha animated
movie, Gouken is pictured as an old man with the necklace around his
neck. He's also shown there as being bald with a full beard.

I guess to sum it all up, to clear up the confusion, should I not take
the Alpha Generations movie of Gouken's appearance literally considering
he shows up as two different appearances to clear up the confusion in
the game?

I found another video in question. If you go here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TVtis6cyPo&NR and go exactly one minute
and seven seconds into the video, it looks like Akuma is giving a
hundred hand slap. Since when did Akuma get E. Honda's move LOL?

Directly after that, what kind of move did Akuma get after what it
looked like to be a hundred hand slap? It's the move where Akuma turns a
sliverish color and then looks like he's doing a fireball.
