Subject: 'Darkstalker' Powers
Alright, taking a stab at it.

Darkstalker Powers Mechanics

These are 5 point traits, still considering costs. Thinking a 'base' of
Rating x5

Instinctive Regenereration:
Like the Regereneration Maneuver, this replenishes wounds from Chi, but
requires no effort to do so. Those with this power may purchase the
Maneuver 'Kamakazi Chi' (same req's as Regeneration) in which Health may be
spent as Chi. (exchange as much Chi for health as level in this) Combining
this with the Regeneration maneuver allows the Fighter to restore as many
Health levels as rating in this trait with a single point of Chi.

Hyper-abundant Chi
You possess an inordinate amount of Chi. For every dot in this trait, you
have 2 extra Chi points (maxing out at 20)

Hyper Attributes:
The character's effective attibutes are beyond human, or potentially so. IE,
if the character has Hyper Strength 3, & Strength 3, effective Strength
rating is 6.

Chi-Eater:
During a sustained hold, character may drain Chi from his opponent. Opponent
may not resist the drain.

Health-Eater:
As above, save that it drains Health.

Shapechanging:
Level 1: Other human forms, approxamately your own size & weight
2: Most any human
3: May take animal characteristics (as Animal Hybrid)
4: may become an animal.
5: May become a variety of animals.

Have you taken a look at Aberrant? A lot of these powers are covered by
Aberrant, including Taint, which would make the powers cheap and give your
characters a gruesome appearance.

Hello Everybody

Last night I picked up some comics with the Master of Kung Fu, Shang Chi
and, damn didnt that get me in the mood to play some Street Fighter.

Im picking up Street Fighter Alpha 3 this weekend. :) but I cant find
Street Fighter 3 for th PSX anywhere. Is it out for the playstation?

Whats up with Esquives? (I think that was the move, I forgot my book at
home). Where you need a prerequisite, but the one prerequisite is
unavailable to the certain style, that esquives is available to. Damn, I
didnt even understand that sentence. Well if anyone knows what Im talking
about some help would be great. If no one understands what Im talking about
I will re-ask this question tonight when I have the books in front of me.

Thanks for the help.

Check Wal-Mart or Best Buy... they tend to have everything, and if they
don't have it... can order it if it's out or tell you when it's due out.

Street Fighter 3 isn't out for the PSX to my knowledge, although I
think I heard a rumor it is comming out for the Dreamcast. We'll see I
guess. Anyone jump in here if you know better.

As for the whole Esquives/Displacement thing...

Esquives
Pre: Ath 2, Block 1
PP: Savate 2
This is the one that lets you dodge any one attack

Displacement
Pre: Block 2, Ath 2, Punch 1, Esquives
PP: Savate 2, Sp Ninjitsu 3, Wu Shu 4
Improved version, you get to counter w/ a jab after your auto-dodge

(Rough translation, acording to Player's guide, p88-89)

Now, I assume what you're refering to is how the heelll do Sp.
Ninjas/Wu Shu characters get Esquives so they can buy Displacement...
Well, by the way the book's written, they can't. Just another typo
that slipped thru the cracks. Typically, we adjust the Esquives PP
list so that they can buy it at the same PP cost it cost's them for
Displacement (Sp Ninja for 3 PP & Wu Shu for 4 PP). But that's just
our group. Anyone else do something different?

Y'know, I think that there's an all-encompassing body of work that deals with just such an occurrance.  Let me check.

*goes over to Street Fighter Central (http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/skarsten)*

well, hot damn! Here it is!

From the "Rulings, House Rules, and Typo Fixes" section;

Esquives, Displacement, and Typos

If you look at their prerequisites, in order for a character to learn Displacement, he must first learn Esquives. However, Displacement is listed as being available to Savate, Spanish Ninjitsu, and Wu Shu... and Esquives is only available to Savate! How can these other styles learn Displacement if they must first learn a maneuver that is unavailable to them?

Simple. Note that Displacement costs two Power Points for Savate, and that Esquives also costs two for Savate. Following this progression, we can assume that since the cost for both maneuvers are the same for Savate, they are also the same for the other two styles listed, and their omission from Esquives is a typo. Therefore, the proper cost for Esquives for Spanish Ninjitsu is the same as Displacement's cost for Spanish Ninjitsu; three Power Points, and the cost for Wu Shu is four.

Sorry Mike, but SF3 is unavailable for the PSX. I've heard that it is
possibly coming out at the end of this year, but I've also heard that the
PSX can't handle the complex scaling/scrolling devices found in the game.

The Technique that is causing so much confusion is Displacement, an
Athletics Maneuver that is available to Savate 2, Spanish Ninjutsu 3 and Wu
Shu 4. The only problem is that it lists Esquives as a prerequisite, and
Esquives is listed as being only available to Savate for 2. There was a
correction to this problem listed somewhere (I don't remember where) that
said Esquives can also be used in Spanish Ninjutsu for 3 and Wu Shu for 4;
the same prices.

Hope that helps.

it's far from done, but you can check out the direction I'm going with SFC's
new look and layout by following the old link

and selecting "New Site" from the links.

the old site will remain up until I do the entire overhaul, so it's not like
any material will be lost ('cept maybe that lame Monty Python song parody
:p )

any questions, comments, or hate mail about the new layout can be directed
to me either here or via the Contact link on the main page.

cheers!

Hey guys!

They have Contenders, The Players Guide and i think the main sourcebook on
auction at eBay. It tears myheart out, but I had to retract my bid on
Contenders. Anyone who monitors this list for any amount of time knows that
I really WANT THAT BOOK, but I couldn't reconcile what it was going to cost
me (at least 15 + shipping and handling) rare out of print book or no. The
book was mint condition too.

Anyway, i hope you guys can find some use in this message.

Later,

Don't know about SFEX2(that'll probably be on the next gen consoles), but
Alpha 3 IS most definately out. A friend of mine has had it since January
this year. It's just not out in english, you could get an import copy
really easily, hell, I don't have a PS but I could pick one up for about 10
dollars.

Oops, read that wrong. No SF3 will never be on the PS(at least in a decent
version), it dosn't have the sprite support to do the arcade justice. It
will be on the dreamcast, but dreamcasts suck big time, so the best bet
would be on the PS2 or Nintendo Dolphin.

Also, while checking out the Contenders Book on page 109, the Jiu Jitsu fighting style has a move called 'Dislocate Limb'. (Other styles make reference to this move). I can't find any stats on it. Is is from a book I don't have?

Does anyone have stats on this move and others I may be missing?

I still can't find Player's Guide or Perfect Warrior...
GenCon's coming soon. Maybe I'llhave some luck there.

I doubt there'll be anything at GenCon itself. However, having once lived in Milwaukee, you might consider checking the yellow pages and calling a few places. I'm pretty sure that a Contenders and Main rulebook are floating around, and possibly a Perfect Warriror.

well, i know there is a game called Big Eye, Small Mouth, which is a generic
anime game. i've also heard of one based on project a-ko. supposedly, you can
make whatever kind of skill you'd like to have. a friend who told me about it
had universal finger gestures and run like a bitch while dodging. hope this

Dislocate Limb is in the Player's Guide.  Basically it hoses punchers... and grapplers to an extent.

Prerequisites: Grab 3, Kick 2, Athletics 1
Power Points: Capoeira, Ninjitsu 2; Kabaddi, Sanbo, Native American Wrestling, Special Forces 3
System: The turn after a fighter's shoulder has been dislocated, he suffers a -3 speed penality due to having to pop his arm back into place.  Any punches attempted this turn will have a -2 damage modifier as the fighter attempts to return feeling to his arm.  Alternately, he may choose not to re-locate his arm, but he may not use any maneuvers that require the arm until it is re-located.
Cost: none
Speed: -1
Damage: +1
Move: +1

...I ran my weekly game last night and the players found themselves in Las Vegas.  One of them was a Combat Sambo specialist with this maneuver, and as we know, Vegas is home to a lot of street fighting boxers.  The player kept yanking everyone's arm out of joint, and doing it too quickly for them to do anything about it.  Eventually, his opponents were reduced to chasing him around trying to head-butt him.  It was damn funny at the time.

Well, I'm actually a big fan of anime-style games, so here's my two cents:

The first anime game to my knowledge was one called Teenagers from Outer
Space. R.Talsorian Games produced it. In fact, RTG put out a lot of anime
style games, including a lot of high-tech ones. Bubblegum Crisis being one
of my favorites (I'm actually running it this weekend. Yay!) and they also
have one based on Armored Trooper Votoms. They are well known for their
orginal games Cyberpunk and Mekton Zeta, a mecha-combat game.

Unfortunately, it seems that R.Talsorian is out of business for awhile.
Either that or they have a new distributor, because their website hasn't
been updated for a year, and a lot of their stuff is ou of print. I'm trying
to locate a copy of Bubblegum Crisis EX. Christian Conkle runs a webpage
devoted to BGC, so ask him.

Project A-Ko was indeed an RPG at one time, though I'm unsure of the
manufacturer. A funny story: I actually owned a copy of this game years ago,
before I ever played an RPG or even knew what an RPG was. I picked it up
cause I was an anime fan. Course, now that I'm a player, I can't find the
darn thing.

Big Eyes Small Mouth is the newest entry into the anime game genre. I have a
copy of the game, and I can say it's not bad. The rules are incredibly
simple, mainly becasue it's supposed to be a multi-genre game. Gameplay
takes a little getting used to, if all you're using is the main rule book.
However, Guardians of Order (he company behind the game) has acquired rights
to adapt a lot of famous anime to their game rules. these supplements are
great because not only are they game rulebooks, they're also sourcebooks
devoted to that particular series. So far, they have expansions based on
Sailor Moon and Dominion Tank Police (action combat). Coming soon are books
for Demon City Shinjuku (Sci-Fi Horror) and Geobreeders (comedy action
adventure). They also have original expansions, the titles of which I can't
remember right now. hey have to do with Intergalactic Combat and Guns
w/Girls. I think.

Ohyeah, i also saw some semingly cheaply-manufactured book at a store called
Tinkerer's Damn. Not sure who made it or when.

Hope this helps.

The Bubblegum Crisis RPG is a perfect fit for this type of world, with
cyborg bodies and renegade androids. Cyberpunk 2020 also works well, but it
de-emphasizes the renegade androids. Marauder 2047 also covers these topics,
but it introduces some kind of renegade biological horrors like DOOM.

Other games directly inspired by Anime but not necessarily set in the world
you mentioned would include Big Eyes, Small Mouth; Tinker's Damn; Sailor
Moon; and Robotech.

Subject: Alpha 3 - Bleck
I bought Alpha 3 last night, and I must say I find it very annoying.

plus side? Every character *EXCEPT GUILE* ported over from Super SF2,
finally making my dream of an old-characters-new-artwork update of the
original. They should've just added Guile. I know Charlie is in there, but
Ken and Ryu made the cut, so he should too.

downside? humph, where do I begin. There's only two turbo settings...
"Slightly faster than I like" and "Too damn fast to use combos". the
backgrounds may be gorgeous, but you never see them due to all that crap
flying around the screen. I don't need four transparency banners flying
into my view when someone gets a knockout, especially when it obscures my
character, nor do I need another three come winging in to let me know the
match has started. Three different control settings (X-ism, A-ism, V-ism)
only complicates things further (you get this combo in X but not in A and
both in V, on any second Thursday of the month)... and of course, grapplers
are now finally and unconditionally hosed by the new throw controls, where
you must press two buttons to grab and lunge ineffectually if you miss. Oh
yea, and all the old characters may be in there, but some of them look
really stupid... like Cammy, Zangief (looks like an inbred hick with that
bug-eyed facial expression), and Fei Long must've finally hit puberty
because his voice is about six octaves deeper. And speaking of voices,
who's that game-show reject they got to announce the matches? "Come on guy,
beat him up! Maybe you'll win a BRAAND NEW CAAR!" It's not like the
announcers in the previous versions were any less goofy but at least they
were tolerable.

It may grow on me, but for all of its flash I'm *really* disappointed in
this mess. At least there's a ton of characters... but even that's a
drawback because most of them are the original World Warriors, and the rest
are either from the old series or a bunch of new women. I dig women in
fighters, but my players are already bitching about my having too many
female NPCs in our campaign, so I'm leery of adapting any new femme
fighters... so here I buy Alpha 3 hoping to get some new NPCs and they're
all women! And apart from Rainbow Mika (who's useless with this new throw
system) they're all Cammy and Sakura clones.

A resounding FEH :p for Capcom on this one. No cookie for you.

Gee, they must have screwed up the conversion, 'cause the Japanese version
has 7 differn't turbo speeds(from almost slow motion up to way to fast). It
was a exact port of the arcade(except for some little animation things that
you don't really notice).

Oh, about the hidden characters:Guile:play world tour mode untill your
fighter is level 30, go to the states, hit lots of people, beat up guile &
he's playable.Ryu: same as guile only get to level 31, & head to Japan. Shin
Gouki: as per Ryu but level 32(seeing a pattern?), but to pick him you've
got to highlight Shin gouki at the character select screen, press & hold l2,
& select Gouki.

hope that helps.

I played a lot of Alpha 3 yesterday... turns out I was wrong about the turbo settings; the modes you can pick during the game are dependant on certain options set outside of the game, so there are indeed about eight or nine settings.

looks like it's gonna take a while to get the hidden characters... my record in World Tour mode is level 24 so far. :p

I *still* say all those win/loss flyouts are unnecessary. And Custom Combos are utterly useless, making V-ism a waste of a mode.

Psychic Rage

Prerequisites: Focus 3
Power Points: Ler Drit 3
System: The Ler Drit stylist using Psychic Rage selects an opponent. The
victim must be within a number of hexes equal to the attacker's focus +
wits. The fighter must then defeat her opponent in a resisted willpower
versus willpower roll. (Use the permanent willpower ratings). If the fighter
is sucessful, the opponent enters a berserker fury.
The victim will only be able to play Fierce or Roundhouse Combat Cards
and his highest damage Special Maneuvers: the battle fury will drive them to
use their most powerful attacks. He will spend Chi and Willpower as needed
until he runs out. Furthermore, he will be incabable of playing Movement or
Block Maneuvers and will not gain benefits from Combat Maneuvers.
After each turn the victim has suffered Psychic Rage (not counting the
first turn he is effected), the victim can roll his Permanent Honour in a
resisted roll against the attacker's Manipulation to try to break free of
the rage. The rage will automatically end if the attacker or the victim is
knocked unconscious.
Victims still lose Honour from any actions they take during Psychic
Rage, even if the rage forces them into dishonourable acts. The remorse and
self-doubt will plague the victim long after the rage finally subsides.
Cost: 1 Chi
Speed: -2
Damage: None (see above)
Move: None

Now this brings up something I never thought about. The Revenants suck with
Psychic Rage.

Psychokinetic Channeling
Prerequisites: Focus 3
Power Points: Ler Drit 3, Any 5
System: This power is recorded on a single Combat Card, which can be played
along with any of the other six Basic Punch or Kick Combat Cards. When
playing this way, Psychic Channeling adds +2 damage to the attack.
Cost: 1 Chi
Speed: +0 (see above)
Damage: +2 (see above)
Move: +0 (see above)

I included these two because I figured you didnt have Secrets of Shadoloo.

I have just completed Space Fighter Alpha, a set of Spaceship Combat and
Construction rules for Street Fighter. It's a stand-along spaceship combat
game that plays just like Street Fighter, but it can also easily be
integrated into any Street Fighter game. Also included are rules for
conversion between Trinity and Space Fighter Alpha and interscale combat.

Check it out at http://www.mecha.com/~conkle/sfighter/spacefighter.rtf

I'll have a PDF version soon with better layout and fonts, but I'm sans
Adobe Acrobat right now. I'll have an HTML version too when I get more time.

I'd like feedback. So far the only playtesting I've been able to do is with
my girlfriend, who isn't a gamer but enjoyed the game anyway. So any other
feedback would be welcome.

Hi,

I'm new to the Street Fighter game. It looks interesting enough on it's
own, and I plan on using with our gaming group as an alternative on off
nights when we all can't make it.

But I was wondering if there are any good conversion rules to fully
integrate it with Vampire/Werewolf. Just looking through the rulebook, the
health system is completely different. I'm sure there are other changes,
even though Street Fighter is more or less faithful to the Storyteller
system as presented in Werewolf. (We mainly play Werewolf, and I was
looking for something to provide a new twist to normal humans/kinfolk.)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Key difference between Street Fighter combat system and WoD:

There is no "to hit" roll, "to hit" and "damage" are combined into one roll
of a bunch of dice as opposed to two seperate rolls. Therefore, it is very
hard to figure out any accuracy modifiers from the Street Fighter maneuvers
because they're lumped in with damage.

Therefore, I would suggest picking up a copy of WoD Combat, which is very
Street-Fighteresque in it's representation of Martial Arts rules, but is
native to WoD (it includes accuracy modifiers and rules for different types
of near-dead critters).

Yup, I noticed that one too. My call was that a Revenant could substitute

Well I checked this morning to see if anyone was bouncing, and I checked
just now too, and according to egroups, everyone is cool, so I would
hazzard to guess its just you.

What are the jolly bouncy things anyway?

Thanks

Speed -> Accuracy on the maneuvers

Using a Kinfolk sheet:

Focus as a Numina, weather or not an Athletics maneuvers require Dodge
depends on the maneuver. (Kinda sucks that the offensive stuff is lumped all
into one, while defensive is split apart)

Using a Street Fighter sheet:

Scratch out the Health past 7 and write in the penalties. Technique rating
adds to damage to justify the huge cost (compartively).

alternitively, one might wish to pick up Demon Hunter X, which has some
marvelous Chi rules for WoD as well as ways to use them.

Yah.. People might have allready responded to this but.
its in the players book, Im pretty sure. Its a pretty nasty move to.
The person either spends the time trying to get feeling back into his limb or
fights as is with some hefty penalties.

Aside from the Street Fighter RPG, are there any other decent Anime-stye RPGs set in an Akira/Ghost in the Shell type of world? Also, while checking out the Contenders Book on page 109, the Jiu Jitsu fighting style has a move called 'Dislocate Limb'. (Other styles make reference to this move). I can't find any stats on it. Is is from a book I don't have? Does anyone have stats on this move and others I may be missing? I still can't find Player's Guide or Perfect Warrior...GenCon's coming soon. Maybe I'llhave some luck there. --

I doubt there'll be anything at GenCon itself. However, having once lived in Milwaukee, you might consider checking the yellow pages and calling a few places. I'm pretty sure that a Contenders and Main rulebook are floating around, and possibly a Perfect Warriror.

Aberrant is White Wolf's new Superhero game set in a universe where
superheroes have been popping up over the past 10 years. Powers are
purchased with character points, like maneuvers for Street fighter, and are
based on a Quantum technique, like Focus in Street Fighter. Powers cost
Quantum Points, like Chi in Street Fighter. You can decrease the cost of
powers by taking Taint, which are physical mutations that are side-effects
of the powers. Also, when your Quantum surpasses 5, you gain Taint
automatically. Taint might be Fiery Hair, Glowing Eyes, Bulging Muscles,
Green Skin, Long Claws, Stripes, Electrical Discharge from their hands,
whatever, basic powerful Dark Stalker/Street Fighter mutations. Basically,
permanent aberrations as a result of too much power. Thus the focus of the
game: Balancing having power and becoming mutated gods. You can also gain
Taint by pushing your powers beyond what you're capable of.

Otherwise, it's a lot like Street Fighter, and the powers can be easily
adapted to Street Fighter. Just say Focus=Quantum and Chi=Quantum Points,
and introduce Taint as a side-effect of monstrous power.
