Good advice all around. I wouldn't depend on just one protocol. I use Norton
as well, run Spybot S&D about once a week, and I still stand by running the
free scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ about once every week or two
as a back up. Sometimes one'll catch things the other doesn't. Eh, makes me
feel better anyway.

Good luck,

Then, you have four options.

1) Get involved in newsgroups. After all, they were file sharing before
Napster made it sexy. (Bonus for them; no one's even thought about cracking
down on them!)

2) Get involved with DirectConnect. They have a few domains with RPG in
the name. Guess what they share?

3) Check Ebay, Half.com, Amazon, and any used bookstores that have a web
page. You might be suprised.

4) Go back in time, and pick 'em up from your local bookstore.

Oh, and you're welcome, man.

Or you could just forego having internet access and use PATs to check your

Thought you guys might be interested.

<<Hey Mike,
Unfortunately we still can't narrow down a release date. We're well into
editing and playtesting, but since that's usually where delays can occur
(nothing like finding out that you've done something wrong to throw a
monkey wrench into your schedule), it's really hard to say. However, our
design/layout team has already started on the design of the book, and we
should be ready to go to layout as soon as editing and playtesting is
done.
Sorry I couldn't give a specific release date or even a release month.
But you can be sure that we're working hard on it. *grin*

hardly ever got to use them.
If anyone here is running a club based or PBEM game, or knows

Ronny and Jerome are each running a streetfighter game at
www.rpol.net but its not quite PBEM....

What are people's thoughts on me starting an SF:stg on rpol as well,
set in a fantasy world along the lines of mortal kombat?

Yep that's right. Just check under Anime Category on RPOL.net fro
Streetfighter: Metro City Showdown & Streetfighter: Bay City Chronicles

You're welcome to join in both, as they are in the same world, but on
each end of USA ^_^

There is nothing like taking a game and putting it in a new setting to make you
apreciate it more. Give us a few ideas on what kind of fantasy (european,
asian, etc.) and I'll join.

Any idea if this is an official tagline of the game?

I just have a map of a foreign land I made 9 years ago, I just
thought I'd use that. Nothing solid yet, I'm still formulating stuff
but I was wondering what people's opinion's were...

The map is a bit of an eddings, feist, weis & hickman, tolkein and
asian flavour to it.

Just visit http://www.rpol.net and search the Anime section for the
subject title.

Wasn't sure which category to put it in since it is an
Australian/Asian modern day streetfighter setting with an
anime/fantasy twist.

If you have read Magician or any of the books in the series authored
by Raymond Feist, you'll understand what I mean...

If you'd like to play a vampire or werewolf type character, feel free
to use the animal hybrid rules.

Hey... Don't do that ^_^

I have joined, but is working on an Idea for a character.

And there's several others who have said they would like to play so
just have some patience and you'll have a game going. As they say:

Well, I have a character *mostly* made. The only problem I'm haveing is with
the abilities section. The character sheet you provide includes such diverse
elements as: Animal Ken, Academics, Dodge, Empathy, Expression, Etiquette,
Culture, Enigmas, Meditation (one that should have been in the game, I admit),
Performance, Intuition, and Technology. While I know most of these from other
WW games (except for Intuition), I'm sure there are some people who will not.
It also lacks some of the SF cannon skills (Law, Bookie, and Disguise come
immediately to mind).

Also, this is a fantasy setting, so what role do abilities like Computer and
Technology have, if any? Also, how will Dodge be handled in SF?

The other major stumbling block was my backstory, which would have been almost
impossible to write with the information I had monday when I made this
character. Luckily, you added the setting thread, so I should have the story
written up later today.

First of all, I'm annoyed no one reads the GAME INFO section on rpol,
if you don't know where it is, its in the top right corner with a few
other standard quicklinks. But anyway, I copied the info into a
genre/settings post.

I will handle dodge for just about anything dodge related that isn't
part of the game's combat system. ie. ranged combat with arrows,
bullets, cars, falling cows, etc.

As for fantasy, I mentioned that the game spans 2 worlds, the 1st
world, where everyone starts is a pseudo-modern setting and it is the
players' task to find the 2nd world(fantasy).

I recently read about how much information GMs should give about
their game to attract players and I still couldn't decide.
(The fantasy world was supposed to be a *surprise*)

Anyway, now you all know. No more suspense....whee.

gravitate your way. I've got some true SF gamer sluts there :) Some of them
have already joined up in Ronny's game.

I'll help you out as best as I can.

also try posting up on the "players wanted" forum at Rpol. Thats how I got a

A Twist of Fantasy aka Streetfighter: Chronicles of Twisted Fate.

I put this game in the Fantasy section of http://www.rpol.net under
the title: A Twist of Fantasy (Storyteller)

If anyone's wondering, it used to be called Streetfighter: Chronicles
of Twisted Fate.

Also, if any of Jerome's gamer sluts are interested in joining, just
send priv message. ;)

GAME INFO
This is a mystery/fantasy/anime game using the Street Fighter
storytelling game system created by White-Wolf Studios.

The game is set in the City of Lights, or more commonly known as
modern day Perth. The City of Lights in this setting however, is not
a quiet, peaceful or droll place, but a bustling city riddled with
organised crime syndicates, powerless police and vigilante wannabe
streetwarriors.

The city is home to one of the world's best underworld fighting
arenas and home to two notably high profile world champion fighters,
Geoffery F. and Costa Zuko.

Lately, several fighters of note have been rumoured to be
disappearing from the fighting scene and someone wants to know where
they have disappeared.

*Characters will begin in the City of Lights and hopefully discover
the mystery behind the missing fighters.*

Also, let this be my "hello" to you all. I had a lot of friends who
played Street Fighter, but I was too busy with work. Well, I,
unfortunately, have since moved, but am trying to get into the game

I don't know anything about Mutants and Masterminds (besides the
name), but I recognize D20 as being related to Dungeons and Dragons.
Is this the format they're going with?

Personally, and I'm sure most here agree, I liked the White Wolf
system. I thought the combat system was really innovative. I still
haven't seen anything like it.

I play a old game (1998) called Marvel Superheroes Adventure Game.
It's played using cards instead of dice. Well, right now we're trying
to convert Street Fighter to it. It can work, but it's just so odd
without the cards for moving and fighting. I don't know the technical
name for them, but I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about; the
cards used to say "High Punch: +3 Strength, +1 Speed". So, since this
is only working out so-so in our game, I'm very curious to see how
Living Room Games is going to do it.

I've just barely taken a look at the Street Fighter books put out by
White Wolf. A friend of mine recommended NOT getting the books and

Dude, thats like going on a D&D mailing list and saying "Hey guys, my
friends tell me D&D sucks. Should I bother getting the books?"

The Street Fighter roleplaying game seems to cause a lot of people to
judge it outright as silly, stupid, a waste of time, etc, before people
have even tried it. Which I personaly believe is just dumb.

I would say the majority of the people on this list love the game, and I
know for a fact that many people are also searching for the White Wolf
Street Fighter books. I myself have 2 copies of almost all of them.

So, if you like Street Fighter, then yes, get the books if you can find
it.
If you are just waiting for Living Room Games version, then no, dont get
the White Wolf version.

I think Living Room games has a huge job to do and I hope their version
is as good as White Wolf's.

I'm looking for TMNT players. If you don't, you should. To play
TMNT all you need is your deck. You don't need any counters or dice
or other stuff. So it's easy to carry around just your deck and play
at school. Also, every pack has a holio-foil.

Marvel Superheroes Adventure Game also known as Marvel SAGA. (SAGA was
the name of the rules system).
I loved that game. Still one of my favourite superhero games.

Yes, D&D uses the d20 system. So does Mutants and Masterminds. However
M&M tweaked the system a bit and made it their own. Did a damn good job
too I think.

Im interested in how you are converting Marvel SAGA to Street Fighter.
Care to share your notes?

Did we just get spammed for the TMNT card game?
funofteenage just joined, and I was pretty sure we were going to get
some porn spam and we got TMNT spam?
Damn, that just makes me laugh.
Nice! He even signed up and asked for no email from the list.
Funofteenage! Welcome to the banned list!

I'm looking for TMNT players. If you don't, you should. To play
TMNT all you need is your deck. You don't need any counters or dice
or other stuff. So it's easy to carry around just your deck and play
at school. Also, every pack has a holio-foil.

I recently watched an episode of the original series and I must say,
I was a fool to ever be a fan of the cartoon. But, that's childhood.

One thing I realised when watching the original series again was that
the TMNT are weak. PISS WEAK!!!
(Sorry, had to let out some pent up frustration)

I recommend that their attributes and techniques not exceed a level 3.

[I was wondering, does anyone ever read the description for each
attribute level? Is anyone aware that the strength of a character in
terms of amount of weight you can move is not proportional to the
number of points in your strength attribute?]

Another wonderous idea! If my game ever gets moving, expect a trans-
dimensional paradox to occur that will involve some extra-dimensional
humanoid turtles with swords! ;P
