I'll publish anything that's sent to me, but I won't be writing any
articles
myself until I get my hand on a copy.

Naturally, the best way to make this happen would be some kind hearted
soul on
the list to send me a copy. :)

Mike brings up a good point though, The Pride was intended to be a
resource for
SF:STG exclusively. With the game getting progressively harder to find,
and a
new SF game comming out, should it remain so? If not, should it be
extended to
all RPGs with an anime martial arts theme? How about Wuxia? Martial arts
in
general?

I smell a poll.

I've done a bit of searching around... it'll be OGL (d20) based if I
understand correctly, and will possibly be released in March to
coincide with Street Fighter's 15th year anniversary.

I was thinking of installing street fighter music on my website.
I've chosen the following sound tracks:

No more swingin'(Guy theme) - SFA3
Feel the cool(Akuma theme) - SFA3

POLL QUESTION: What happens when you Jump over a
Repeating Fireball?

CHOICES AND RESULTS
- Roll to Jump each fireball, individually. Those fireballs you fail to Jump are hits., 2 votes, 14.29%
- Roll to avoid the fireballs with Jump. However, the first missed roll signals that "the Jump has ended" (from the Jump system description). Therefore, the fireball you failed to Jump and all successive fireballs each hit., 10 votes, 71.43%

the only other posts by this particular guy is:
"come to my website on roms"
this follow-up, if you read between the lines, seems to be:
"here is something only vaguely and remotely on-topic in some
abstract way, so come to my website on roms"

it seemed to be just a lame post to generate traffic on his website
on roms. if webmasters are allowed to generate traffic by
adveretising their off-topic sites here, i wanna know why all the
porn ones are deleted? porn and emulation, while *NOT* related to
SF:stg, are both pretty entertaining no? with all the PG AND XXX
cosplay, many porn sites are just as ontopic as a ROM site.

if I'm convinced otherwise I will appologise to the stupid spammer
godspeed. but i dont think that is going to happen unless a shitload
of material on SF:STG suddenly travels back in time to when he posted
his URL, and places itself on his website.

also, as emulation is considered to be a breach of copyright laws by
many, advertising here 'puts the Yahoo Group at risk' just as much as
talk of copying books, which was asked to stop for that same reason.

back to your question tho combs, it would take far too long to
explain here why I'm so bitter. my AIM is 'C Lo Canth' and my email
addy is on my SF:STG site tho, if you want to contact me privately.

By bitter, I meant more like it sounded like you had a beef with this
guy... seems like you did, rightly so. I haven't been on the boards
much, so I didn't even know who he was (didnt' bother checking his
website).

Nah, your situation- or whatever is causing you to be bitter, as
we've opted to call it- is probably best left a private matter.

The best (and as near as I can tell, only effective) way to deal with AOL is to
threaten to leave their community. Once they're convinced that you'll go
somewhere else to access the web, they'll bend over backwards to help you (and
will probably temporarily cut your bill down a bit). AOL does not repect you
(or anyone else) unless you're willing to hurt them (by leaving).

Alternatively, you can see if Cleansweeper mentions anything like this in their
FAQs. You can get online in just about any public library (going out on a limb
and assuming you're American).

Matt's at http://www.tlcnet.com/~slappy/sf, I'm at http://staredown.8m.net, and
Pittman's at http://www.dragonslayergames.com/streetfighter

Between the three of us we have most, if not all, of the SF:STG links.

What is everyone's beef with D20 anyway? Either they don't have an opinion or
they hate it. Personally I think it's a decent general system. Not great, but
it's certainly not Palladium.

My beef with D20 is this: I think its a decent enough system, I just
dont think everything should be converted to it. It seems every
licensed product that comes out is D20. What bugs me the most is, these
are not complete games. You have to buy the D&D Players Handbook to
have the character creation rules and the advancement rules. However,
OGL, allows you to put all the rules in the game, but cant use the D20
logo. I like OGL, dont like d20.

Thats it. I still play D20 games. Its just not my system of choice. Im
not a rabid anti-d20 fan. Just not my cup of tea.

I like d20. I'm glad the new sf rpg will be in d20. i played a lot of
2nd edition dnd and when 3rd came out with the new d20 system it was
a godsend.

(isnt the new BESM in d20 too? I think I have the version before
that. BESM is the next best thing to SF till lrgames hits. basically
comes with built in C.H.A.M.P.S.)

Yeah. Newerwinter Fighter, or perhaps Fighters of the Old Republic? :-)

Would probably rock, but still - I got a mental flash of Ken wearing an
old-style plate mail, and it looked... interesting. On the other hand,

Hmm...

Actually, I must admit that I would be leaning towards a clean install,
but that's a *major* pain in the butt. Which reminds me that I should
start getting my ass in gear about my own backup system - which is
non-existant.

Anyways, what you're describing sounds like your computer doesn't allow
anyone to put cookies on it. Quite a few sites with login must have a
cookie on your machine to authenticate that you are you, basically.

Depending on your operating system, there might be quite a few ways of
allowing authorized systems to put cookies on your computer. Barring the
case where you have specialized software running to prevent this (like
whatever anti-spyware program you used), here's how to enable cookies in
WinXP:

Internet Explorer
Tools | Internet Options
What you're looking for is the tab next to 'Security'. I have a
non-English version of WinXP, roughly translated it would be 'Personal
Policy'. Set this to accept all cookies. If you would like to have a bit
more security than that, set it to accept only first-party cookies. You
might fiddle around here a bit to find settings that work properly - it is
difficult to 'remote' computer advice.

Anyways, what you should do either way is to do a remote scan of your
computer to find out whether there are any problems with your computer's
security. www.symantec.com are the producers of the Norton series of
tools, and runs such a remote check.

I'd also recommend http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/enterprise.htm (the
free online scan) which I use about once a week in addition to running
Norton AV. Between the two, I seem to catch most viral badness.

If it's done by Bioware, I wouldn't care about the game itself per se, it would
be the Campaign editor that would command my attention (and about six months of
my life if Neverwinter is a fair comparison).

by making all game with the same
system, I use to play various rpg
including the excellent L5R but with
this system
you loose all the interest of the game
I think a system is a part of the game

What is everyone's beef with D20 anyway? Either they don't have an

they hate it. Personally I think it's a decent general system. Not
great, but
it's certainly not Palladium.

I agree, music is usually a big no-no in web design unless its done
JUST right.

only use short clips, maybe something that sounds good in a loop, and
heres what I started doing:

coding for any browser to display the music right can be a pain, but
almost everyone has a flashplayer these days. so, whenever i use
music I make a short looping flash movie to stick it in, and the
visual component is just a speaker thing you can click to mute it and
then click again to play again.

I think which system is largely unimportant, because using the system
in any kind of dice rolls etc, is largely unimportant.

The best part of gaming IMO is the diceless RP that builds the

D20 has its limitations. I think it's fine for Ad&d, but it
doesn't work that well for other genres like Call of
Cthulhu, World of Darkness, etc. because of things such as
Levels, combat-oriented feats, etc. If I have a d20 book, I
port it over to BRP or another, simpler system that's
easier to run.

The main problem with D20 is that characters always
progress in a step-by-step pattern, unlike other games
where they can develop with more randomness built in. It
appeals to a powergamer mindset and it always has. Gamers
who play it do their best to min/max and way too many feats
are combat oriented only.

In addition to this, many people feel uncomfortable because
of Wizards of the Coast, a company owned by Hasbro, throws
its weight around a bit too much and doesn't treat its
workers well enough.

>Personally I think it's a decent
> general system.

It's all right, but it doesn't work as well as Basic,
Gurps, Fuzion, or D10.

>I'm glad the new sf rpg will be in d20.

I intend to get it, but I try not to support D20 because
I'm sad that it has replaced so much shelf space for games.
I'll probably pick up a used copy so that the money doesn't
go into Wizard of the Coast's coffers.

> > > (isnt the new BESM in d20 too?

There is a D20 version, but Tri-Stat is still being
supported last I checked.

All of the above is my own opinion. I could be wrong.

I do agree with you,
but there is only one system i know of without dices
and it's a great game AMBER from zelazny books.
Anyway, I agree role play is very important but
for most of the game you also need dices
ex : playing someone with a wits of 1 or 5 is
not the same thing and sometimes you do
need to roll or yhe player need to be remind
of this capacities limited or limitless ...

There is a D20 version, but Tri-Stat is still being
supported last I checked.

All of the above is my own opinion. I could be wrong.

I think it's a question of emphasis. D20, and most other RPGs concentrate on
the Game aspect while Amber, and to a lesser extent Storyteller and TriStat,
concentrate on the Story part.

i think it has more to do with the particular groups style of play,
not the system.

I dont think d20 focuses on dice over rp, just that many ppl who play
it do.

ive played amber and ive played dnd, and with my group theres not a
lot of difference. with other groups maybe there is.

nothing wrong with either one, im just saying i dont mind d20 because
me and mine dont focus so much on the rules as the story, so I
couldnt care less if we flipped a coin or paper-rock-scissored.

the rules are just a technicality.
