we use a hand full of change, but sometimes we are in the mood we use
the ones that came with it, either picking an appropriate one or
turning them inside out and drawing our guys on the blank side.

I don't recognize the characters, but you can get Shi/Kabuki characters with some martial arts weatpons, Arashi, a heavily tatooed guy doing a roundhouse kick, Boon, a dude in a Blue kung fu suit with a staff, Tomoe, who kind of reminds me of Mai from SNK, and a few other figs with martial arts weapons or poses.

I actually use my old Lego figs. Just dress them up with hats and hair
and stuff and maybe put a sword or halberd in their hands, and you
have your fig. ^_^

Even better if you have any of the Ninja lego Figs.

Well, I must say that I decided to check this out... and you'll find that
the website at www.heroclix.com is most accomodating.

I won't post reviews of all the characters - but there are several which
are nice. Bit disappointed with the level of detail, though, but I suppose
plastic can be molded only so much before the cost becomes prohibitive.

Just curious, but would anyone be interested in joining an online/real time
SF game?

The situation as it stands is this: We have two table top games being run
locally and the remnants of a game I used to run in another state. We
created a SF RPG list so everyone could role play and communicate with each
other online.

But then I started to wonder if anyone else would like to join? Naturally of
course, anyone who joins would become eligible for the massive real life SF
RPG tournaments I throw from time to time (pics from the latest one can be
found here http://www.giovanni-wod.net/gsen/sf/pics.html And there is a lot
of images so please be patient) as well.

We've got another one coming up on 1-2-2004 which is another reason I'm
extending this offer. More players equals more fighters. And more fighters
equals more carnage and fun! :)

If anyone is interested drop by here: http://www.giovanni-wod.net/sf/

Before I commit myself to the game, I'd like to know the
answers to some things.

I'm not really up on the Storyteller system. Would that be
a problem?

And what kind of game do you want to run? I ask this
because I try design a character that "fits" into the story
a GM has in mind. For example, I don't want to play Ash
from Evil Dead during a detective game where most of the
work involved concerns investigation.

And are there any house rules I should be aware of? My
games are homeruled to heck and back and I try to get my
players to read over the revisions I made before they get
too busy.

Same questions as everyone else, same interest as everyone else, and
you don't have much on your sf site either...

Also, what do you mean nothing found in the SF mainbook is allowed?
What's the point of an SF campaign?

A little bit of errata

"Also, what do you mean nothing found in the SF mainbook is allowed?
What's the point of an SF campaign?"

Actually that isn't what the website says. I've reposted the quote below.

"Nothing that is not found in the main Street Fighter books is allowed at
character creation. But they can be earned through game play."

So what that means is if it isn't found in the main SF books, it isn't
playable just yet. I do have plans for original styles (eg: those not found
in the book, found in anime etc)but nothing concrete as of yet

----------------------------------

"I'm not really up on the Storyteller system. Would that be
a problem?

And what kind of game do you want to run? I ask this

Claude Smith"

Explain "not" up? Is that "not interested" or not completely clear on the
Storyteller system? If you're not clear on the system that fine. I can help
with that :)

Right now the ongoing story is based around the team of fighters and their
stories. The -overall story- is about the fighters and their climb to the
top. And while this might sound totally fight orientated it's not. We do
have tournaments but a lot of the focus is on the fighters, their
interaction with each other, and the backstories therein.

I do have some house rules but they are painless and very few. The three I
can think of offhand would be 1) burning a point of willpower to remain
standing if you're -exactly- at 0 health 2) 13-9-5 for abilities (I use the
regular White Wolf abilities instead of the meager ones in the SF book)
instead of 9-7-4 like the main rulebook 3)merits and flaws like most other
White Wolf books.

------------------------------------------------

What sort of style will we be using? Will we be starting
off from scratch in the tournaments or will we start off at
the mid to upper ranks? Will the tournaments even play a
part in the story?

As per my first email, I start all new characters off as beginners. Straight
from the books. Most of the characters currently in game are at 2-4 months
worth of gaming. As for the tournaments being apart of the story? Oh yeah.
I'll have to find something that works for online. But as I stated prior,
any character submitted for this game that is approved will automatically be
eligible for the real tournaments I hold in person. I used to run these
tournaments at a comic store I used to work at. And now we've found a gaming
store nearby that we can hold them at again.

The website doesn't have a lot to it yet because the online version of this
just started a couple of weeks ago

If you have any more questions/comments just shoot em to me directly

Well, according to
http://db.gamefaqs.com/coinop/arcade/file/super_street_fighter_2_turbo.txt,
Akuma doesn't have the Raging Demon. Indeed, there is a profound lack of Super
Combos for him at all. This is in accord with my memory of Alpha being the
first appearance of the Raging Demon.

just drumming up conversation.
You know you play too many fighting games when..........

ok, we played a short-lived campaign of star wars for the d20 system.
I played a greedo-headed guy (forgot name of race) just because i
read in the description that gladiator (read "streetfighter") games
were big on that planet, which i went on to base his whole concept on.

the best alien-sounding name i could think of, being that im not as
much a scifi gamer, was "Tobol Oono", lol
(Oono = Uno = 1...... Tobol #1 = Fighting game)

anyone else play too many fighting games?

Hey everybody,

Sorry for neglecting the list here but alot of events in my life have
been changing. I am now officially a Vice-President of Seraphimguard
(www.seraphimguard.com) a company which produces role-playing games
including the popular "Heart Quest" (a game based on anime romantic
comedy and supernatural adventures)

Well while we haven't secured the license for Streetfighter proper,
we ARE however finally ready for production of "Arena Gods" which
will be a RPG totally devoted to the games and their plotlines in
general with inspiration directly cited from Streetfighter the Movies
and the ongoing series anime!

I hope everyone will check it out our other stuff! I'll keep everyone
posted!

Well, the guys I play with, "complain" that I always play some kind of
martial artist. And, to a certain extent, they're right. Sure, they're
throwing stones in glass houses - one of 'em will have fits if he doesn't
get to be the best fighter, another one is happy as long as he gets to
break the game in some way (his latest creation was a skill bonus
stackfest in D&D 3rd Ed), and yet another guy is only happy when he gets
to create a character with distinct flaws, and then whine when the GM
exploits one or two of them. Go figure.

I wrote for the company and they gave me stock because some of my
stuff was successful, I was elected for my experience.

'Arena Gods' is already almost done and ready to be released so I
doubt much will be in the way of affecting it honestly HOWEVER we are
always looking for material to be submitted (check out our webpage)
and I'm happy to take note of any suggestions people have here on
this list since I've never found a better group of more detailed fans.

Just feel free to post him here directly and I'll do my best to
answer them

Oops sorry about the double post.

'Arena Gods' by Seraphim Guard (www.seraphimguard.com) an RPG company
that is dedicated to bringing to life genre books of anime for their
gameline that started with the popular "Heart Quest" series. The
company has recently undergone a major overhaul and will be releasing
gobs of new books on everything from MECHA to cyberpunk (though the
webpage won't be entirely updated with all of them til the press
release-shhhh)

Arena Gods description from the webpage here is however

The starting piece is a excerpt from a fiction about an island nation
tournament similar to Mortal Kombat (or "Enter the Dragon" for that
matter) where families are drawn to compete from the island whether
westernized or not.

[The wooden staff swung through the space her head had occupied just
a flash of a second ago. They had been fighting, thrust and parry,
block and dodge, for much too long. In a fight to the death, neither
of them were intent on striking the mortal blow.

As the Judge motioned them away, her thoughts swirled to the lifetime
that she had lived in the last month. Crystal remembered that long
first look they shared during formal introductions, how she and
Justin had snuck away from the Emperor's reception to be alone, how
he showed off for her at his exhibition matches, and how hard she
tried to best his efforts during hers. Neither of them expected,
during their first trip to the Grand Tournament, to make it to the
final match, the only match contested under such fatal rules.

As she turned back to rejoin the match, she looked into his eyes, and
could see the pain of the decision they both had to make. To kill the
other was unthinkable, but to hold back, or to concede was equally
so. The family that won the tournament won not only great honor but
power, more power than any of courtiers in the Emperor's court could
hope for. The opposition of their loyalties, to heart and to family,
were breaking them down faster than any duel could.

As they returned to the match, the judge warned the combatants to not
dishonor their family or the Emperor. Their eyes locked, and they
agreed, silently, to what must be done. Both their weapons dropped to
the floor, and they fought, fiercely, hand to hand. The exchange of
fist and foot ended with Crystal landing a high kick to Justin's
head, spinning him around quite abruptly. Sensing his momentary
weakness, she summoned her chi into a ball of flame, hoping to end
the battle quickly. But could she send it on to kill her beloved?]

Here's the actual description of the game provided by my company...

["Arena Gods": an RPG inspired by fighting games of every
description, ranging from Street Fighter and Tekken to Soul Caliber,
Dead or Alive, and Bushido Blade. Spectacular and deadly martial arts
moves, characters who can take an enormous amount of punishment, and
much potential for role-playing outside the arena. True to the genre,
there will be a heavy emphasis on one-on-one duels and the game
should be designed to be exceptionally effective with one player and
a Gamemaster, or as a battle system between two players without a GM.]

The game pays loyalty to the origins in martial arts movies where the
tournament and competition is secondary to the growth of the
characters themselves. Fighting is furthermore a means of expressing
emotion and feeling as well as a simple desire to destroy one's
opponent.

I have high hopes for it, and its Heart Quest compatible.

Couple of questions and comments

1. the game sounds cool. Id get it. There is a serious lack of rpgs like Street Fighter and Arean Gods. Actually, those are the only two I can think of.

2. What is the system like?

3. When does it come out?

4. Is this going to be pdf, or a dead tree version?

5. Will this be available in stores or just online to purchase?

Thanks

Hehe. Dead tree. :)

God in this day and age I'd just publish a softcopy online and charge to
