Subject: But why not Obi?
Hiya folks,

Wow, I realize now that I need to get out more. But this is really too cool
not to mention. This is for an on-line poll/personality test things, the
"Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?" survey. It's excellent if you like
these things, rather short with a wide variety of outcomes. I've had nine
people take this, and only one duplicate answer, and she was lying on her
personality test! One must wonder what that says of her character...
Anyway, take the test, and lemme know what you get!
Also: Please do not "Reply All". Thanks!

So, here's the link:
http://www.tk421.net/character/

And because I'm sure you all care, so much, here's my result:
http://www.tk421.net/character/aragorn.html

All of you who know me must be chuckling now...

Well, do tell me what you get! Or just post it in the Group mail.

Thanks for Playing,
AmbroseKalifornia

It looks good - could you please as I guess your admin - amend my name
to
Sonshu rather than Craig Sennett?

Thanks

Also it will help more when there are NPC's populating it.

Cheers

Ok, since the list has been a little slow as of late, I thought I would
try you guys. I need some help.

I am going to be running a one shot Street Fighter adventure in a weeks
tiime for a couple of friend while the regular gaming group is on hiatus
for the summer. Problem is I don't want to do the same thing with the
Shadowloo undercover, or go to tournament to beat the bad guy thing.

Im not against having a tournament, I just don't want that to be the
main premise.

Anyone got any ideas? Remember this is only a one shot, so the adventure
should wrap up by the end of the night.

We usually start around 7 and go to about 12:30.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

MikeM

Okay. Have your group hired to deliver a package to an eccentric
master. They are attacked by various people trying to get the
package.

What's in the package you ask?

A quartz brick that the martial arts master needs to finish his
flower box.

Subject: Re: A little help
This takes place at the local watering hole/bar. The
characters are minding their business when the door is
kicked in by a _huge_ guy. Some time back in the past the
barkeep (a woman) had a brief affair with a boyfriend who
unfortunately was a bit loco. He's back, he wants her, and
he's packing weapons.

The former boyfriend won't draw guns unless he gets
desperate, but he will not refrain from using clubs
(chairs), fists (with brass knuckles), kicks (steel-toed
boots), and so on. He also will vent his frustration on the
patrons of the bar, who probably are ordinary joes without
any martial skills.

One of the patrons may be a policeman off-duty, however.

If the PC does a good job of kicking the former boyfriend's
butt, the boyfriend will break a bottle and grab a random
bystander and hold the broken bottle to the guy's throat.
The policeman (if he's there) will try to talk him down,
but the PC may think he can use a hadouken/kikouken to take
out the boyfriend.

It turns out the boyfriend was using a special steroid that
induces violent rages (ala Venom, from the Batman comics).
The PCs may be offered a job by the police if they can help
the police track the steroid to its source. (Why would the
police call upon the PCs? Because They're atheletes.)

Well, how about a tournament where one of the PCs spots someone planting a bomb
somewhere in the arena (a small one, like a landmine). The problem is you're
players are nobodies from various parts of the country/earth and he's the son
of God (not literally), and he is beyond suspision. Make the guy a total
sociopath and you're set with a great villan with little or no martial skill.

My games tend to be a wee bit darker than most I see.

I know we've tried a few one-shot SF games based on movies. Go rent
any random Kung Fu movie & watch it through 2 or 3 times. You'll need
to know it well enough to know all the bad guys & be able to write down
their stats on paper. Then have your friends build characters. They
don't have to be the same as the 'good guys' in the movie, but it might
help if you give them some pointers. The Flesh eating Cyborg mutant
squid might be powerful, but I doubt it will fit in the story. Also,
make sure you give them enough starting XP or Freebies that they can
beat the final boss. You'll need to make some adaptions, of course,
but most action flicks can be tweaked into a quick one shot w/o too
much difficulty.

And if you finish early for some reason, you can always make them watch
the movie so they can see what they were 'supposed' to do... ;)

Regarding the Movie based Street Fighter game, it is a good idea and works.

The first Street Fighter game I ever ran was based on the movie Streets of Fire. And one player figured it out pretty quickly, but went along and everyone had a great time.

Is anyone interested in starting an online SF RPG game via mesage board? I
just installed a messageboard system for an online World of Darkness game
I'm going to be running, (which btw anyone here is welcome to join

Now that I am at home, I figured I would chime in with my own comments
about this.

When I first heard that Living Room Games was doing a Street Fighter
RPG, I honestly thought someone was just making fun of me for liking a
Street Fighter RPG. However, when my friend sent me the link, I was
shocked. This is AWESOME news.

Sure it wont be the same. The system will be different, but we can still
do the same kind of adventures right? We will have lots of characters
to convert to the new system, or even from the new system to the White
Wolf one if you dont like the new system.

I personally can't wait.

Thanks

Could be good, could be bad, best to wait until they
are out and can be better judged. As long as they do
the right thing and keep the essence of the game and
characters (and don't change the characters) another
system can't be to bad.

Its good to see Final Fight is also there, used to
love playing the game. :)

I wonder if there is a forum on their site that we can
all put our own two cents worth into.. might help make
the game better...

My spam filter caught that message, so I didn't see it hit the list.
The spammer simply did a hit-and-run attack, he/she was no longer subscribed
to the list. However, the source email address has been banned.

*sigh* I hope this doesn't get bad.

Thanks for speaking up.

did i leave the iron on?............
oh you mean pertinent comments.

1. OMFG

2. OMFG

3. great news, hopefully a more refined system than white wolfs,
which desperately needed a 2nd edition or something

4. great news, way more games are out since white wolfs. hopefully
these guys will include everyone from the alpha 3 and SF3 games as
well.

5. Hmmm, i dont know how far into production they are but i SERIOUSLY
think we ought to organize and contact them as a group about beta
testing. since we have obviously such a passion for it to keep the
game alive so long after white wolf canned it.

I agree. With their permission, I'd also like to start work
on converting it over from d20 to Villains and Vigilantes,
Fuzion, Gurps, Storyteller, and BRP.

Thanks Mike!
We're very excited about getting the license. We're hoping that we can
put out a book that both PnP gamers AND video game fans will enjoy.
We've got access to Capcom's private stash of art so we're sure it's
going to be a pretty book. And we've got a team working on the rules
aspect and they're all Street Fighter fans.
So we're really expecting good things from this license.

Subject: the making of myths and legends
Hello all!

I figured I'd try and spark some conversation on this list again by tossing
out this idea for a game I'm currently running

Recently the group I'm running the game for has been taken to Outworld (same
place that most of the Mortal Kombat genre is based around). However it's in
the future.

Shao Khan has fallen and lords have risen to take his place. Some who
champion their people while others are no better than their former overlord.

So here's the question I pose to all of you. Where do you see a post Shao
Khan Outworld (roughly 5 years since his passing)?

And if your Street Fighter ran into this sort of situation, what would
he/she do?

Well, we saw a little bit of what happened in Kitana's ending. I'll just bet that the Queen took back Edenia, and is probably in the process of rebuilding it. That's about all I can offer ^_^

I dunno, from the tone of his message, I'm thinking he's looking for a 'Fall of
Rome' kinda thing.

If that's what you want, then Sindel and Kitana would only be one faction vying
for the throne. Some of the others could be Baraka and Mileena (separately or
together). Rayden might even get on it, to expand the mother realm's
influence. The Shokan should be a real contender as well, being led by either
Goro or Kintaro. The centaur race should be in this as well. Heck, even the
Black Dragon could be involved, as arms merchants if nothing else. The
Outworld Investigation Agency would probably be allied with Sindel and Kitana,
if they were involved at all (is the OIA an American or UN thing? Does it say
in MK3?) possibly as a black ops group.

And I haven't even mentioned Shang yet.

It also depends on what sources you use outside the game. The movie (there was
no second movie), the Malibu comics, the novel (which was the first place that
mentioned that you're essentially immortal until the next tournament), the
cartoon, the novelization of the movie, and innumerable fanfics, all have some
good material you can use to flesh out this campaign. How many of the games
are you using as sources? My knowledge of the series ends with UMK3.

o Yeah, I sent them to you weeks ago. You mean you didn't get them? I shall resend at once.
o Just five more minutes... Done!
o Doh! It's October all ready? I haven't even thought about it yet.
o Actually, my promise was merely a cruel joke to get you're hopes up. The Pride, like the game itself, is dead. Deal.
o I've stalled. I need your help with something, but I didn't know how to contact you (sfstg@...)
o My computer, which had no combustable components, exploded, along with all my work for Warrior's Pride.
o What's this 'Warrior's Pride' thing anyway?
o I'm afraid that I have only one word to say in my defence. 'School'
