I think Akuma said it best when he said:
"Fireballs don't kill people. I do..."

I don't think "styles" are evil, but rather practicioners.
Gouken, Ken, Ryu, and Sakura I think have shown that even a baby-
eating, hell-murdering style like shotokan can be used for good.

(unless you get me started on my Ryu actually being evil theory)

The NPCs really don't have a stragey.they have a move list and their
move is randomly selected from that list.but I will accept any
suggestion..i might do the contest thing for more ideas for npcs
but.that will be later..after I finish the player vs player combat.which
I just started.

you should have a contest or something for the best strategy
submitted and script NPCs around them. that way all the NPCs dont
fight just like you would play them.

online tournament ppl can get pretty crazy with the if/thens.

I was just writing some silly stuff down, thought you guys might be
able to complete the list or come up with something better.

Kung Fu-
Cannot be attacked by more than one ninja per turn

Special Forces-
Difficulty to hit with ranged weapons is automatically 10

Sanbo-
+1 soak when without shirt (or bikini for women)

Shotokan-
+1 damage against NPC's who don't have names

Hi, everyone! ^^
I have a question: can a player to make a combination of Unique Backgrounds? For exemple: purchasing Animal Hybrid and Air Elemental.

I dunno. How else are you going to do Tiger Burning Bright?

Heck, if you give him arena, he can even own The Forests of the Night.

Well, not really. I just needed a punchy title. This is in reference to
Eric's (eric_musashi@...) question about Unique Backgrounds.

This is a fun question, and the first good one in a long time.

Ahem. *dusts off soapbox, stands on it* Well, the first rule of Street
Fighter is to have Fun. That being said, NO, I would "never" let a Player
play a character with more than one Unique Background. Which isn't to say
that you couldn't. The Street Fighter core book has a really cool Jeff
Rebner picture of a Cyber-Gator. Obviously an Animal Hybrid, and most
likely a Cyborg. While it looks like fun, and it totally fits in to the
Street Fighter paradigm, and I *would* probably use him as a terribly
destructive NPC, I couldn't allow him as a Street Fighter Player Character.
I like to keep everyone balanced, complimentary and a of fairly low power.
You are still just men after all, and no one wants the Final Fantasy
Syndrome, where you do more damage(9999) just because everything keep
getting so much stronger. Think of it as Damage Inflation. There's more,
sure, but it MEANS less. So, anyway, I roll a D10, but have the player call
the number first. It seems harsh, but you'll still get at least one guy in
the group who will display special traits. No one gets it unless I want
them to play something special, or they get lucky. Unless you the player,
have a heartbreaking story of staggering genius(Thanks David) you get one
Unique Background per, maybe. But no more than one for
less-than-excellent-players-with-a-GOOD-story.

For the logic behind these profound truths, we need simply read from the
Book of Musashi, The God Who Walks Like A Man ("FIIIIIIST
FIIIIIIGHTING!!!!"). Look upon this, lost Eric, quench your thirst for
knowledge, and find every reason not to let PCs have more than one Unique
Background.

http://mu.ranter.net/rpg/sfchars.html

The whole site is this good kids, bookmark it and visit often, although I
think he stopped playing eons ago. I especially like Senor Mezcalito ...

So Eric, there's your answer(Thanks Musashi). Now here's a question for the
rest of you:

"What new and different Unique Backgrounds have you developed?"

For those of you who have no idea what I mean, Unique Backgrounds were
introduced in the Player's Guide and feature stuff like Cybernetics,
Elemental, Animal Hybrids... I've come up with a few, such as <Special>
Chi, Psycho Power, Strega(minus ten points to any one who knows what THAT
is...) and Family Fighting Dynasty. So, you have new ones, point rules,
limitations, fancy ways of drawing straws, or anything? Tell me now...

So, the question is simple, and the Admin thinks that we've been too quiet,
so let's hear what you folks have to say. "FIIIIIIST FIIIIIIGHTING!!!!"

Thanks For Playing,

AmbroseKalifornia

Ok... Unique Backgrounds from the top of my head here

Dream (For those of us who have played Mage the Ascension)
Once per day (in character) you can roll Attribute + Dream as a replacement to your regular Attribute + Ability roll
1 - Vague Dreams
2 - Less Vague Dreams
3 - Vivid Dreams
4 - Lucid Dreams
5 - Total Dream Mastery
Possessed by: Shamen, Lucid Dreamers, Those touched by deep spiritual ki masters
Suited for: NAW, Kadabbi, Anyone so long as they can justify it

Epiphanies (aka Destiny)
We've all seen this before, the hero is on his last legs about to be severely beaten by the main bad guy before SUDDENLY he gets a vision of how to destroy the bad guy with the power of his friends/dog/inner training/deep spirit guide etc.
Once per life threatening major combat where the character is visably losing(ST discretion) the character may add his Epiphany Rating to his Willpower or Health bar, after describing at length what snaps him out of a losing streak, and loses this bonus after the combat finishes
So sue me, I watched Dragonball too much
Possesed By: Goku (DBZ), Yugi (Yugi-Oh)
Ideal For: Power Gamers and Anime Addicts

Ahem. *dusts off soapbox, stands on it* Well, the first rule of Street

likely a Cyborg. While it looks like fun, and it totally fits in to the
Street Fighter paradigm, and I *would* probably use him as a terribly

Well, there's Bushido, which performs the same function as Ninja Clan for Zanji
Shinjinken swordsmen. Not very well fleshed out, doesn't even explain Bushido
philosophy. Both of these can be found in Warrior's Pride issue 2.

In issue 3 we get Hunter (which pretty much acts as awareness in any other
white wolf game). Pretty sure that iss 3 came out before Hunter the
Reconing... You also get Corruption, which is how close you're tied to a
demon. This one can't be bought, it has to be 'earned' in play. I know this
issue came out before Demon the Fallen.

Then issue 4 (suppose now would be a good time to mention that all of these can
be found in the Files section of the Yahoogroup) there are merits that allow
you to play as a vampire, were, or ghost, with alternate rules for them to be
backgrounds.

Finally, issue 8 gives you BioChem Augmentation. Basically, you ingest various
combat drugs, not unlike the rift's Juicer, complete with addiction rules.

I admit that I have serious difficulty comming up with good SF ideas that don't
aren't more NPCs, scenarios, or more styles and moves. It took me five days to
come up with that cheating artical. Though once I got that, it wrote itself.

Hey all,

Just thought that since I was at it, I might as well toss out a link to my
new image I rendered a couple of days ago. I'm probably going to start
making some images for the players in the new Street Fighter game I'm
running. But I want to find more props and items to really make them look
"street fighter"-esque before I do :)

Other specialy abilities I thought of:

Sumo:
Difficulty to intimidate any member of the food services industry
is automatically 4.

Western Kickboxing:
Can automatically turn on the radio and have reggae playing, no
matter where they are.

Wu Shu:
+1 Soak and +1 difficulty to hit all attacks from the rear (it's a
well known fact all wu shu artists are secretly petite chinese
ladies with nice butts. Or at least that's how they are perceived)

Native American Wrestling:
Difficulty to spout useless bits of wisdom is automatically 4.

Spanish Ninjitsu:
Add +1 to the damage rolled by shouting 'ARIBA!' while attacking.

Boxing:
Can choose to automatically lose a fight against a lower ranked
boxer to increase resources stat by 1.

No no no. It's WRESTLING that's rigged. Boxing is 100% real. Seriously.

Thai Kickboxing.

No matter how evil you are, you still get to keep your name when being
translated into english.

Kabaddi

Automatically gets a dot in resources due to Weight Watchers endorcements.

Capieora

Gets a +2 damage to any maneuver for three rounds after being compared to Eddie
Gordo.

Ler Drit

Can snap your fingers and have three flunkies show up that might slow down the
good guys for a round, maybe.

Well, you send something (let's say an article with a statistical breakdown on
the different book styles). You send it to sfstg@... (Warrior Pride
email address) I say "Holy Shit! A Pride submission!" and read it (I'm a
professional). I then give you feedback on it (mostly spell checking and in
the above example math checking). We go back and forth like this for a bit.
Then, at an arbitrary date decided on by myself, The Pride arrives in the Files
section in HTML format. Then someone volunteers to make a .doc version and
also puts it in the files section.

After rereading the above paragraph, I think I gave the impression that NPCs,
styles, move, etc. aren't welcome. That's not true at all. Anything that's
even vaguely SF:STG related will be more than acceptable.

Incidentally, submission guidelines are in each issue of Warrior's Pride (at
the bottom of the file).

So do I, but I will be very surprised if he does. The last couple of times I

Sorry I've been slightly dead here. Actually haven't gotten anything from
you for a long while; that's not really unusual, I think I get about 99% of the
Email sent to my AOL account, and 110% of the E-mail in my Hotmail box is
blatent spam; so real mail there gets lost real easily (Actually, I don't think
I've seen legit mail there in months). Generally, if I don't reply, resend. It
does not bug me.

I've had trouble with my writing since my own SF game ended, but I've started
slowly plotting out a new storyline, and that helps. But, I've laid in the
crypt long enough, it's time to pull this stake out of my chest and get off my
undead duff.

Now, onto other things....

"Nerve" gets harder and harder to write. It's an experimental style for me,
and I'm not confident I can do it justice.

"Fortunes of War", that strange tale of Xi, Michael, and that wacky pair of
divorced samurai warriors, Akihito and Masami, is still strong in my head, but
getting from where they are to where they need to be is a bit tricky. But I
think I see the way. I just hope it gets easier once the real action starts.

As a note, I had intended to do an "area-book" article on the town, but
that turned out to be my ego writing checks my "skill" couldn't cash. I would
very happily give all sorts of info, answers, and spoilers to anyone who could
write it.

"Legends of the Circuit". Oh god.... Every SF-Urban Legend I try to write
lately ends up dull and predictable or just plain bad. To put it bluntly: I
need help.

I had other ideas for articles I could never develop, anyone to try them?

The very reason I quit Hotmail and got on rocketmail (though since it got
bought out by yahoo, it's almost as bad.)

Generally, if I don't reply, resend.

Good to keep in mind.

Wait a minute. Crypt, stake in chest, undead...

Are you trying to tell us you work for the IRS?

Well, yeah. If it was easy, I'd be writing it. :)

Ten bucks says that Xi will have at least five bullets break the sound barrier
in her head!

That would be very cool.

I'm surprised you have made a cursed arena one yet.

Well, that was vague. Come on man, details!

Because wasting ammo is imoral.
