HEY!! That's excactly the idea I've been playing with this last 6
months ^_^

Only I haven't gotten so far as to start coding it yet.

My idea was to create an universe where you could walk around and
adventure with other online players, like in any MUD. and fights would
be done with the SF rules.

I had some ideas about learning new moves, and even creating new ones.
To learn moves you would have to seek out a Sifu/Sensei/Wotever and
learn it from him.

Has anyone here played th PS1 game called shaolin?? That's something I
had as a goal, but that will definetly take years.

Just say the word, and I'll halp you brainstorming anytime ^_^

Hey, has anyone got a copy of the COMBAT book for World of Darkness?
I picked it up on an impulse... it's got some decent material for
translation into SF.

Anyone translated over any of the styles not already covered in the
books? What about the idea that animal hybrids need to buy the
technique "Fang & Claw"? (Personally I think that offsets some of
the inherent cheapness of the background).

Also, has anyone seen SF translations of vale tudo?

Thanks!

ive got it,
I think the moves and the weapons are best for bringing over.
the styles have too few moves in them, because WoD games arent as
combat oriented.

with some tweaking and creative additions the styles could work
though, i'd be particularly interested to see Kalindo and Do.

Vale Tudo only means anything goes, so The Pankration could work (its
just anything goes fighting) or JKD or any of the Brawling styles.

It is similar to Shootfighting, i have Shootfighting and Brawling
here:
http://www.tlcnet.com/~slappy/sf/shootfighting.html
http://www.tlcnet.com/~slappy/sf/brawling.html
But be warned that I had to make that version of Shootfighting while
keeping in mind that it is the style of Blaire Dame.

I am selling a complete set of the Street Fighter books on Ebay,
including the screen and insert.

Normally, I only sell to those in the United States.

I don't know about quitting, but I have to sell some things to catch up on some bills right now. My girlfriend (sounds weird after we have been together so long) is moving back home, and suddenly my debts have doubled.

I still am very interested in the Street Fighter game, but I haven't used the rulebooks or played the game for years. My friends are all diehard Dungeons and Dragons fans - you know the type.

With all the material avalible from this list and from webpages (including my own), I think I can still keep up with what's going on on the list, and even play through e-mail if the tournaments start up again and I have the time.

I may collect the books again in the future, but for now, I am selling them all.

Hey guys, its me...

I was looking around a free rpg list when I stumbled across the following link:

http://www.geocities.com/kuseru/PMAN/MAIN.htm

Its a link to the Palladium Martial Arts Netbook. (Palladium Games, the makers of Ninjas & Superspies, RIFTS, Heroes Unlimited, and other games).

It's huge, with many real and fictitious styles listed, and various "powers", all of which could be converted to Street Fighter with a little effort.

Go have a look, and see what you think about it.

I think the reason the newslist has been so slow is that everyone is involved in the "Ultimate Warrior" pbem. I don't mind it. In fact, I was thinking on joining the fun myself. It's just that I think that everyone on this list has said all that really can be said about Street Fighter... :( True, the game may not be published anymore, but that doesn't mean it should be given up on. The possibilities are endless. I would hate to see a good list die.

[snip THE TURTLE!!!]

My character actually fought this guy. He wasn't actually a Turtle (pre PG),
but those were his stats (except he had zero for athletics). I was only able
to beat him by repeatedly suplexing him.

Believe it or not, he came back for more, with Grappling Defense no less (but I
didn't get a chance to fight him)

I, sir, take umbrage at that (none for you). I have more weird in my right
eyebrow (the one that doesn't arch) than you have in your entire neighborhood!
My weird is so pervasive that George Carlin, Robin Williams, and John Ashcroft
have told me that I am 'messed up'. I like brusselsprouts (well no not really,
but at least I'm weird enough to lie about it!). I write Street
Fighter/X-Files cross-overs! So there!

Remember it's unpatriotic to challenge my weirdness.

I'm not challenging YOUR wierdness...I merely said I was the wierdest MAN alive, not the wierdest BEING alive ;p (BTW Beings are far more intelligent than simple men, such as myself....)

Hmmm. Well it is true that _technically_ as a Wookie I was not included in
your claim, so I guess it's all right. I apologize for my jerky knee-jerk
reaction.

Did you know that Wookie isn't in Yahoo's spell-checker? I take umbrage at that!

You're challenging my weirdness with logic and sense? Low blow old man!
Fortunately I am a computer programer, so I know the value of logic. One
rasberry.

I counter you logic with more sillyness.

I was actually looking for a site with many more (and better) Pratchet quotes

Typical. There's still some good ones here though. Some are even sig-file

Check the files section on this group.

There should be a chart for higher rankers there.

As for NPC's. If you use that chart. Why don't U just make them yourself?

the only resource ive seen showing EXP PTs for higher level PC/NPCs
was a big let down for me, I was looking for a specific standard and
what I found was very a very vague outline type of thing.

My advice is to make the call yourself. in some GMs world 3rd level
guys rock, in some theyre not so great. It all depends on your world
and the scale and proportion of power you decide on.

I usually give world warriors I think 100-150 EP (or was it
freebies?) so assuming thats 10th rank, the math says 30-45 by my
rule o thumb.

also, using the tools in my downloads section speeds up making NPC
and PC combat cards considerably.

hope all that helps.

also you might want to consider that some characters, focus based
characters for example, need MORE EXP to be equally good. so to say
they are equal rank with the physical fighters (rank 3) may mean you
should give them more EXP. but only if you have the type of players
that wont get mad at this.

I also suggest dividing the whole sheet into 2 sections.
things 4 combat, and things NOT for combat.

then make them spend @ least a certain amount in the non combat areas
as well, depending on how balanced you want them to be.

I find that with my particular group, if i DONT do this, what I get
instead of a bunch of characters that feel alive, is a bunch of tanks
that are only a vessel the players use to destroy things in the game
world.

Well, personally, I use the following as a sort of rule of thumb (yes, I
do know where that particular expression comes from, no I'm not sexist
except that I do like to watch unclad, beautiful women, no I'm not a
pervert, well perhaps if I do include shaved possums):

(Freestyle Only. Traditional and Duelist is something else entirely.)

1st - 3rd rank: About (rank)*10 in experience points. This means 0-10 XP
for 1st rank, 11-20 XP for 2nd rank, 21-30 XP for 3rd rank. Add 10 XP for
a tough opponent, for instance.
4th - 6th rank: About (rank)*20 in experience points. This means about
60-80 XP for 4th, about 80-100 XP for 5th, and about 100-140 for 6th.
7th + : A lot of experience points. More than 150. World Warriors? About
400-500 XP, I suppose.

There IS a PDF file somewhere (I do believe I have it on my HD) - I think
in the Files section of this group - that numbercrunches the World
Warriors and the various NPCs, and gives numbers for an average
progression based on that.

Personally, I do believe that there's a breakpoint in how tough your
opponents are from 3rd rank to 4th rank, and again from 5th or 6th and
upwards. My own PC, which I played intensely for a year and a half
(intensely = 2-3 times per week or so) has about 180 XP and is (just
barely) a 6th rank Freestyle fighter. The campaigns I've lead, has usually
ended up with 3rd or 4th rank fighters with about 50-70 XP.

As the campaigns I've lead usually has at least pretentions about being
about something more than combat, the players themselves usually increase
their Talents, Knowledges and Skills without any prompting from me.
Especially Alertness, Blind Fighting and Arena Knowledge :-) Plus
Medicine, of course. And Mysteries. And so on :-)

The expression comes from the fact that, in less civilized times, the
rule was that a man could beat his wife so long as what he was
beating her with wasn't larger than his thumb.

When people fault you for not being average, just remember, an
average human being has one breast and one testicle. In other words,
an average human is a freak.

oh yeah,
I knew about that, I just didn't know that's where the expression
came from.

That was from the Bible wasn't it?

Anyone know why this has what equates to a eulogy when you hit this
link?

Steve took down the site last December after an extensive argument that took
place on the list. The eulogy is appropriate, since it was a good SF site
and its presence is missed.

About this move.

Why the #%#¤¤% doesn't it have any move penalty??

I would think your move would be a bit penalized when fighting form a
prone position, don't you think??

But the user receive some penalty, I want know some manuvers to use:
Like Fist sweep, maybe a some grab from the ground...

Ground Fighting (con 114) Simulates training in the art of continuing to
fight when knocked to the ground
Athletics Maneuver
To Learn: {athletics 4}
Power Points: pankration 2, sanbo, native american wrestling, wrestling 3,
special forces 4
System: This maneuver does not require a combat card. Instead, it is simply
invoked whenever the fighter has been knocked down, thrown, or has fallen
down. The street fighter does not have to rise from the ground to continue
fighting (although if he does he suffers the standard -2 speed penalty). He
may continue fighting from the ground, using any basic or special maneuver
that does not require hip-derrived tourqing or momentum, or any aerial
maneuver. This requires some Storyteller descresion. Street fighter who do
not possess this maneuver may still fight when grounded, but with a -3 speed
and damage to thier own attacks.
Individuals fighting grounded opponents suffer -2 damage and speed to
thier own attacks unless they are low-target attacks.
Modifiers: cost 1 willpower per turn used, see above for other details

Subject: Maneuver summary chart
Hey, anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a chart,
preferably in PDF format, that is set up similar to the chart in the
Storyteller's screen, but includes all moves/power point costs for
all 'official' moves from the books?

I've seen a few different charts, one I believe from SF Ultra
(Christian Conkle's site) that includes a few books in its content...
just wondering if there's one that's summarized all of them.

Thanks!

Subject: Animal Hybrid question
I know this may sound strange, but can any of you nice people give
the information about Animal Hybrids from the Player's Guide? I own
the Player's Guide, however my one and only copy is in China while I
am here in the states. I know that sounds wierd, but it's a long
story on how it got to China,a story which will be saved for another
day. However, back to what I am asking for. All I am looking for is
the character creation point breakdown for the animal hybrids. How
many Physiacl, Mental, and Social dots do they get, do their Ability
dots change any? I know that their Attribute dots change greatly I
just can't remember what the numbers are for certianty. Thank you for
you help and patience, and I hope to post again soon.

I remember a page from J.Scott Pittman with a good word format material, and
Chris Hoffmann page is a good one too, but I don´t know if both still
working, and Steve Karstensen page is another but this page is no longer
exist.
