I used arena knowledge in my games as follows...

If a player enters an arena they can use the arena knowlegde skill + intelligence to determine if the owner uses any special features(traps, vegas chain fence, etc...).

animal hybrids and cybernetics are so talked about because they are
totally unbalancing.

its like the creators didnt playtest it at all.
a cyborg or animal hybrid is vastly more powerfull than a normal
character assuming they are both made by smart players.

freebie costs are:
attributes-5
abilities-2
backgrounds-1
techniques-5
powers-4
temp renown-1
chi-1
willpower-1
health-3

Health, you start with 10 pts, you can buy up to a total of 20.
there are no penalties for being injured like in other white wolf
games, and unless its agg damage you heal it all in about 15 minutes
of rest.

Chi and willpower are mainly used to power special moves, like
spending 1 temporary chi to throw a fireball.

"powers" are the power points used to buy special moves.
so if a move has a power point cost of 1, you can buy it with 1 of
your default points, or 4 of your freebie points.
moves costs depend on your style. some styles get moves cheaper than
others, see the movelist on this page: http://mu.ranter.net/
also you must meet the requisite score in the technique, and/or have
any requisite moves.

honor and glory mainly effects how ppl see you, but also you roll
honor after each fight to regain lost chi/willpower.

intimidation slows your opponent on the first round

arena knowledge simply lets you know about arenas. the more you know
about the more you can go to right?

style lore, self explanitory.

insight lets you learn particulars about a fighters sheet after
watching for 3 rounds.

backgrounds:
allies: duh

animal companion: never supported (says it will be in 'future
supplements')

arena: you have one of varying quality

backing: a big orginization backs you

contacts: duh

fame: duh

manager: duh

resources: duh

sensei: your teacher. this rating can lower costs of buying moves.

staff: various ppl that work 4 you.

If you have WoD Combat, consider that a lot of it was taken from SF. (Works
much better in the game the system was designed for though.)

There are some resources in the files section of this group. (At least,
there was last time I checked.)

IMO, they were probably supposed to be pre-cursors to a Darkstalker
suppliment.

> abilities-2

-Cut Brawl, Melee, Athletics, and Dodge out.
- Some people also cut out Firearms. (Depends on the game really.)

> backgrounds-1

- I'd personally put Animal Hybrid & Cyborg on 4 points ala Vampire Elder
backgrounds

> techniques-5

- Includes Punch, Kick, Athletics, Grab, and Focus.
- Athletics is used for Dodge
- Weapons are broken up by type (Chain, Sword, Knife, etc.)

And agg damage is caused by going into negative HLs. Character death is
completely ST handled.

It works alot like 2nd Ed/Rev Werewolf renown for the most part. (Although
obviously adjusted for SF society rather than Werewolf society)

Think 'Beastmaster'. Or a few characters from Samuri Showdown.

Or 1 rich guy.

IE, SF version of Mentor.

IE, SF version of Retainer(s)

"A Darkstalker supplement"

...

God, that really gets me thinking about where the game would be right
now if it hadn't been cancelled.

There are so many cool things that could have been done with it...

I guess its better this way thought. it probably would have only got
worse, like a bad movie sequel. Some of the later material looks
like it was headed that way anyhow.

Would have been neat to see rules revisions for a "Second Edition"
though...

The official rule (Player's Guide p.68):

Perception + Arena Knowledge, successes equal to Arena
Background rating required to cancel any bonus gained from
arena.
Since only 4 and 5 dot arenas give such advantages it's not
going to be easy, so ... ;-)

Firearms is a (Weapon) Technique (that doesn't add any
attribute to the damage roll and uses Wits instead of Dexterity for
Speed)! Weapons are similar to maneuvers in the way they add
modifiers to Speed, Damage and Move.
And there are no combat abilities – that's what Techniques are
for.

Plus Block!

Mainly used for determining Move!
(Since dodging is only possible against projectile attacks and
only with certain maneuvers!)

There are other sources for agg dam as well, but they are all up
to ST descretion ...

But move CAN be used as other white wolf games use "Dodge".
Just look at the Lawrence Vs Buzz fight in my sites tournament.
Lawrence is dodging almost all buzz attacks by moving around.

Subject: Combat Chart Generator
Hey guys,

This is for those of you who 'use/have used' my Combat Chart
Generator availiable at
http://www.tlcnet.com/~slappy/sf/downloads.html

The next update will deal with (among other things):
1. Savate's additional damage to all kicks
2. Lightfeet's additional Move to all Maneuvers

How do you think these universal additions should be noted on the
finished chart?

I'm thinking either:
A. Added to the total with an astrix that leads to an explanation
example: "4" Move with Lightfeet becomes "5*"
or
B. Appended in parentheses with an astrix that leads to an
explanation.
example: "4" Move with Lightfeet becomes "4(+1*)"

What do you guys think?
Its gonna be a lotta work to add those to so many things, so I dont
wanna have to redo it later.

Matt

p.s. Thanks to Rinaldo Gambetta for pointing out that it does not
support Savate
p.p.s. also, if I get off me lazy bum I will add support for duelists
(as if anyone plays them)

I mean shorter entry in the chart. Multiple entries tend to confuse
... but in the end that's shorter for the end-user ;-)

I don't have all the books yet. Basically, I'd just leave it as I find it in
other WWGS books (since it isn't in the books I do have). Works well enough.

Hence why I said to cut them.

More that dodging is done by moving using the WWGS hex system rather than a
dice roll ala WoD or Aeon.

Which is stock for any WWGS system, which is why I didn't mention it as a
difference. (Though I probably should have mentioned it, so thank you for
doing so.)

PS.

Should have mentioned this earlier, but the new Werewolf Revised has a Pack
Tactics section some people with access to that book might want to look at
for inpiration in team battles.

In the very beginnings of the twenty-first century, opposition to Shadoloo's
power began to form. Though small and seemingly powerless, a small black
market in the necessary materials to fight Shadoloo was formed by the man
history would only know as Slappy. The materials he delt in? Knowledge. Lost
lore detailing techniques, not only of Shadoloo, but also of those of the World
Warriors who failed to end his reign in the last centry, Skills ranging from
Demolitions to Computer Hacking. And perhapse most important of all, honor.

Though there is no record of any direct confrontation between Slappy and
Shadoloo, there can be no doubt in the minds of any true students of history
that no victories would have been achieved without his indirect assistance.
The debt the world owes this man can not be said by words.

first explain exactly what you have in mind (so far).

at first i thought you meant you were just tweaking the rules
("engine") to make online play easier, but now you mention coding and
you make me wonder what you really mean.

is this going to be like a chat room or posting board with features
of the rpg built in (dice roller etc.)?

will you be trying to perfectly emulate the rules in this pseudo-MUD,
or are you going to simplify them for the sake of ease?

my initial input is of coarse, to fix cyborgs, animal hybrids, and
the cartwheel kick.

the only MUD ive ever played was Dibrova (www.dibrova.org)
would the user interface and gameplay be anything like that?

I always thought it would be cool to make like a posting board with
the sf rules built in that stores your character like a profile, and
locks you out when its not your turn. like if youve already picked
your move for the round, and your faster you can interupt while your
opponent is going, but if your slower, you are locked out from
posting anything except via the "abort" button (if you have enough
willpower left in your profile) until your opponent is done.

kinda like my tourny but ran by a big CGI script instead of by me.
unfortunately I dont know jack about CGI.
well, maybe a _little_ jack.....

but thats how I always wanted to do it.

HEY!! That's excactly the idea I've been playing with this last 6
months ^_^

Only I haven't gotten so far as to start coding it yet.

My idea was to create an universe where you could walk around and
adventure with other online players, like in any MUD. and fights would
be done with the SF rules.

I had some ideas about learning new moves, and even creating new ones.
To learn moves you would have to seek out a Sifu/Sensei/Wotever and
learn it from him.

Has anyone here played th PS1 game called shaolin?? That's something I
had as a goal, but that will definetly take years.

Just say the word, and I'll halp you brainstorming anytime ^_^

I am creating a entire game system(because I no longer have the core rules) it will be a GUI interface running out of Internet explorer or Netscape, using asp or java(not sure which one I will chose yet) I will use a street fighter type setting. I was going to use the white wolf street fighter system but was unable to acquire the books. Ah well... Keep looking for my updates.

To answer your question Matt it won't be mud per say if you have to compare it to something compare it to runescape or everquest..if you want i'll send the design notes/documents to you via email still use the ringthief@X.X email when I get them done so you can put in your two cents your opionion will be appreciated. I will use your posting board idea not sure on what capacity yet but we will see( i like the concept).

Sorry to ramble...I will post more as i get more done..i'm still designing the rules, documentation is next..then coding.... ah well.
