I'll edit the poll if there are more characters to add.

> > o Bison (Vega) 'Psycho Crusher'-- SFII Turbo

Flying across the screen in a blue halo, just about invincible.

> > o Baek 'Albatros Combo' - Tekken 2

An Albatros is a bird that never lands. Hard for the character to defend if
his feet never touch the ground.

> > o Vermillion 'Guns to a Swordfight' - Battle Arena Toshinden II

All the way across the screen, shotgun & pistol that can't even be stopped
by other character's fireballs.

> > o Thanos '1 button projectile' - Marvel Super Heroes

His normal attack goes halfway across the screen, and is as effective as
most of the other character's 'fireball' attacks, want to guess what kinda
hurt his specials can do?

Note that these characters do have to be 'unlocked' via beating the game
and/or using a code, but they just suck all the fun out of a two player
game. (Also note that later incarnations often weren't quite as bad.)

Magneto/Sentinal projectial assist in MvC2...

Guy adds in Ken's anti-air assist too so if you ever get out of the corner (read: chip damage hell) he'll assist you right back into it...

...or you block the assist and he pulls his 7-hit magneto ground combo and pushes you right back in...

rinse, repeat.

God I hate him...

Enter your vote today!  A new poll has been created for the
streetfighter group:

Some games are easy. Some games are
hard. But some games have this ~one~
character out of the bunch that just
blows everyone away, and usually
requires very little do so. Who's the
worst?

o Bison (Vega) 'Psycho Crusher'-- SFII Turbo
  o Baek 'Albatros Combo' - Tekken 2
o Vermillion 'Guns to a Swordfight' - Battle Arena Toshinden II
o Thanos '1 button projectile' - Marvel Super Heroes

OH OH OH! Mortal Combat II V. 1.0

Bastards that would pull Sub Zero's perma-frost and then let the clock run out and waste your 50 cents.

Or how about those Guile retards in SF (insert number here) that would just sit in the corner, counter fireballs with jab SBs and flash kick you if you decided to close?
You could kill them if you were good, but intermediate players were just wasting money fighting a limburger tactic.

Okay. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 power teams.

One guy here at WSU has a mean Psylock/Jinn combo...
Jumps in and beats on you while ending it with a launcher...
Catches you in mid air and beats a bit more hell out of you...
Stalls the rave finisher to air jump and beat on you some more...
Stalls once again to air jump a second time and beat on you yet some more...
Ends the rave with a super combo (Psychic Whirlwind or something like that...)
Stalls the aerial super for Jinn's Robo-gats' super that hits you when you land...
Then you realise your previously fresh character now has less than a third of his life left.

At least he's styleish!

Not nearly as bad as this other guy and his "nuke" button.
His team is B.B. Hood/Juggernaught/Cyclops (i think it's cyc...but I'm not 100% possitive)
He'll wait untill you switch out a character low on life and then he hits his level 3 team combo.
This will immediately kill anyone short of Colossis (note: It will kill sentinel simply because he eats so many more hits than everyone else) even if they're bar is still full.
God it sucks to switch against him...

Which reminds me...B.B. Hood is just one BRUTAL bitch! Pull her hunter super against any tall character and they take OH sooo much damage. On top of it all she's moderately fast and has a tripple air jump (and something around a 20-24 hit juggle combo with NO SUPPERS! just her "flaming bottle" special.)

Oh, and my favrite: ICEMAN! He takes no chip damage from energy attacks! I don't know what the programmers were thinking/smoking when they thought that up!

Hi folks, long time fan of the street fighter storytelling game here.
I can't seem to find any for sale on any of the online game stores,
even the ones who carry used and rare. Ebay's been a bust as well.
Can anyone point me to a spot where I can find a decent copy of the
game for sale?

Thanks!

Similar situation I was playing Twisted Metal 2, and I play Minion
(an APC) most of the time, since that game is my way to relieve
stress. A friend of mine's 8 year old daughter hit enter for two
player and promptly picked Mr. Grim, a motorcycle riding Grim
Reaper. She got slaughtered. She complained to her daddy about
it, and he replied 'what do you expect honey, you've got a bike,
he's got a tank.' I switched to something a little more fair next
battle.

Don't know if they'll mail order. But you can always ask. And
they were on the 1/2 off rack.

Original SF2 Zangief started close enough to pull
his 'screwdriver' manuever from the get go. And you didn't bounce
far enough away so he couldn't do it immediately again. Had a
friend that walked in on two kids doing the Ryu/Ken kick-kick-kick-
throw corner combo. They had won about 50 straight games because
the combo was just obscene. So Martin puts up his money and picks
Zangief and the kids laugh. 5 straight screwdrivers later they
switched and the older kid sneered at him. 5 more screwdrivers
later and the kids took their money and went home.

Be patient with ebay it took me 2 months but I got
them all for like 50 including shipping so it was
worth it. On a side note who on this list got by
winter-fox on ebay?

Hell, with Maxi (Soul Calibur) you don't even need to learn an
eternal combo. Just mashing buttons endlessly is enough to kill just
about any player. About the only way it can fail is if you
accidentally stumble into one of his repeating cycles, which will
give your opponent a momentary opening. But as long as you keep your
mashing fairly randomized, he'll just spin around in a never-ending
series of fast attacks with virtually no recovery time. And so many
of his attacks involve moving forward that even a long-range
character like Ivy usually won't get far enough to take advantage.

And to make it worse, he looks like an Elvis impersonator with a
nunchuk. I am *so* glad they're not including him in SC2...

Because anime is very formulaic. A large portion of anime artists
copy other successful anime artists. That's why all anime looks
the same, and the variation of plots in anime is a mere fraction
to other forms of cinema.

well there is block animations if you hit.
I think your example was a high kick going over a ducking opponent.
because of the kick though, it looks like it should have hit maybe.

there is such a reaction wehn you block that sum1 can force you out
of the ring by moving you back with a combo if you block.

I have been buying them like crazy everytime they come up on ebay.

In addition to the worn and mint copies i keep of each book, my

My former example was. Now I've started to realize that trying to hit the
CPU from a get-up is useless. I could understand the handstand kick since
they'd punch me out of that, but if I try a leg sweep on the way up, I get
met with a low block that doesn't move the character at all, and the leg
sweep goes all the way through.

Maybe it's just Akira in arcade mode that has the problems.

Maybe I'm just paying more atention to subtleties, but most Anime looks
pretty different to me. I don't think that Ninja Scroll looks anything
like Street Fighter, & Card Captor Sakura looks very little like Neon
Genesis. & I've found the variation in plots are about as diverse as you
can get. From Where's Michael to Urotsukidoji, & Street Fighter to Lain.
Just an obseravtion.

Hey guys, I finally updated my site with Akuma's new sheet!
Check it out!
http://www.tlcnet.com/~slappy/sf/whatsnew.html

Also I put a lot of work into updating the supplemental rules.  Both
for including rules/special moves/backgrounds about Akuma, and for
overall layout.

what do you guys think?

Matt

Um your pdf supplement lists raging demon but I really
don't see why anyone would ever take the move. it
costs 2 chi to start with and has a -3 damage modifer,
to move it up to +3 which is the modifer on reverse
frontal kick, a move that also ignores blocks would
require 6 chi for a total of 8 and then it still moves
one slower even if it does move one further (which is
negated because the raging demon requires you to enter
opponent hex and reverse frontal kick doesn't)Plus
raging demon costs more power points to get in the
first place by 2 for any and 4 for western kickboxing
and savate. Plust the requirements are much more
difficult. This move would take akuma down to 2 chi
from a starting 10 to basicly accomplish a reverse
frontal kick. Did you mean for it to do multiple
damage tests?

Sorry if that sounded over critical I just wanted you
to have a comparison for it. Love the way you did the
supplement and character sheet. They look like the
real deal and Adon is extremley well done.

unlike reverse frontal kick you can spend additional chi to add to
your damage pool in the raging demon. there is no cap to the amount
of Chi that can be spent in this way.

this means that just before you fight Bison, Akuma can come in and
raging demon him for 21 dice of Damage (after soak), possibly beating
him with this one move.

(5 for akumas intelligence, 7 for his Focus, -3 for the modifier of
raging demon, +8 for the chi akuma can spend after paying the 2 chi
cost, and +10 for the Chi he can spend from his beads.
5+7-3+8+10=27 minus Bisons Stamina of 6 is 21 dice.)

still think it should do more damage? what stats do you suggest?

Then he can use Soul Reave on bison to steal his chi and have a
normal amount left to fight you with.

just like the game.

can you do that with Reverse Frontal Kick?

I will take your comments into account on my next update, possibly
changing the raging demon or adding a notation about just how
optional it is since its the ONLY super thats been converted, and
only was because it plays a part in the story. (i forgot to add that
notation but i mean too.)

I would be much more interested to see how you think the move should
be done than all the things you see wrong with how i did it. that
would be more constructive.

Didn't realize he had the beads sorry there. That and
what happens in your games if you go to 0 chi? We
typically play 0 temp will means you don't have the
strength of will to go and and you basicly pass out
from exhaustion (not damage) and something similar
with chi with you either passing out because not
enough "soul" strength to keep going or you freak out
from going empty and frenzy (depends which guy gms)

Big point is that say your up against another master
with 5 str and 7 kick you still have to spend 8 chi to
get off an equivalant damage

Definitetly and again sorry that it came off so
negative like. Hmmm. This is the move that the
screen goes flashing white right. You can't really
see what's going on so I would have it hit twice or
more. Actually thinking more the big flaw in the move
is that I was approaching it thinking for players to
take. Its a good move but needs to worked in a very
specific chi stealing character type. Would still
think about making it hit twice though.

Don't know him too well because of that other than
he's ungodly slow compared to the other chars, which
you've represented. My only question is does he have
a piledriver in the videogames or was that the power

Your Alex character sheet is very nice. Quite impressive.
I made him a bit less strong since the SFIII storyline is long after SFII (I

only that you have zero chi.
I have never seen rules for running out of chi exhaustion, plus I
assumed that your chi rating represents the chi you have to spare to
power maneuvers, not the actual life force you need to function.
otherwise everyone would have about the same chi. I see the rating
as the amount of Extra chi youve cultivated through years of
spiritual training.

yes, it hits about 13 times in the game, but of coarse in the game
its a super move.

thats not really your version of it either. cmon man, gimme spd, dmg,
mov, sys.

I did all that crap you can come up with one move right?
maybe i'll like your way better, or you'll find a way i never thought
of. lets here it.

by definition, players cannot take it. you need 4 points of demonic
to have it, and if you have that, then you need zero honor which
disqualifies you from being a player.

Is that the only way you would change it? just to have it hit twice?

thanks for the compliment tony.
i put a shitload of time into those sheets:)

I too like to play the big slow guys:)

alex is faster than most slow guys, he's kinda like t hawk in that
respect.

I really like Zangief, hugo, etc though.

also really weird characters like dhalsim and Necro and twelve.

some ppl think theyre easy cuz theyre just brutes, but big slow guys
are actually really hard to play.

because theyre so slow you have to think ahead, and throw your moves
a little early to win priority. you have to anticipate your
opponents next move. it really takes a lot of thought and strategy to
use their strength effectively.

plus theyre motions are usually the hardest ones (360s)

big guys rock though:)

yes all anime is different, but the basics are the same.

look at the similarities between ANY 4 peices of anime.

now look at the similarities between these four pics:
1. a peice of anime
2. an american comic strip like Garfield
3. a painting by Picasso.
4. a peice of urban Graffiti

starting to see how anime is the same?

yes each anime is different, and the differences are huge and
noticeable, especially to big fans, but there are many many things
that are the same from one to the next.

The proportions of the head for one.
the specific formula followed for drawing the eyes.
the overall body shape.
the way hair is drawn.

things like this.

if it were so completely different like you say it wouldnt even be
called "Anime". "Anime is a catagory theyre all placed in because
they are so alike.

as far as the plots go, yes there ARE a lot of different plots as
youve pointed out. actually you couldnt find 2 any more different
than the ones you used as examples:)

but a lot of these plots are used and re used over and over.
demon slaying, pop idols, strange and exotic girlfriends to deal
with, transforming machines.

yes there are plots that differ from these formulas but these are the
exceptions not the rule, and over all the original poster is right as
long as he was speaking in general terms.

as a matter of fact, the whole style of anime art can be traced to a
single artist that was imitated by many.

Subject: Re: Nubians in Anime
The original anime artist is Walt Disney. Anime is heavily
influenced through post WW2 American culture. Since a large
amount of Japanese actors were killed in the war, they turned to
animation. They took inspiration from the leading animator, Walt
Disney. Hence the small mouth/big eyes. All anime has these
features. That's why its called a style. If it didn't have these
features it wouldn't be anime, it would be animation by a Japanese
artist. If the artist wasn't Japanese, that discussion is moot.
As far as plots go, there are seventeen primary plots.
Starcrossed lovers (Romeo & Juliet), mismatched buddies (Julius
Caesar-Brutus and Cassius), fish out of water (Midsummer Night's
Dream) to give a few examples. Anime typically uses 4-6.
Japanese culture favors specific plots over others. There's no
market in a typical Japanese market for the Buffoon plot for
example. This limitation of plots is not exclusive to just
anime. There's little room for slapstick in Italian opera. But
anime is very prone to stereotypes. Good guys wear white hats,
bad guys wear black hats. Hence that's why all Nubians look the
same.

Ok, this is just a thought off the top of my head, & would probably suck in
the game, but....how about- Shun Goku Satsu: speed -1, Damage -5, Move +3.
Special: Roll for Damage 15 times. After all, it is meant to be a 15 hit
move! Or maybe tie the number of damage tests to how evil the character is,
after all, Evil Ryu's is only a 12 hit. I really don't think it would be a
problem to make the Raging Demon REALLY over the top powerful, it is, like,
instant hell murder, after all! The sheet does look really nice, as does
the story sheet(though I think there's one typo where you dropped a d off
the end of a word), on the whole, very nicely done.

I hope this is at all usefull to you. Also, the pics of Juli & Juni you
wanted, do they need to be Capcom, or would really good fan art do? Oh, &
programmer friend of mine who's playing in my game is gonna look at
rewriting your combat chart generator(it's really cool, but runs really
slowly, espesially on my PC, & it could be streamlined quite a lot), He's
thinking of redoing it in another language(computer, not like german or
something). If he gets it going nicely I'll send you a copy, & you can do
with it as you see fit.

I agree that most anime has a lot of thing in common. & as I said, I
probably pay more atention to the subtleties than most. I'm not saying that
Anime is the most diverse style of art, but there are often more differances
than a lot of people think.

See, now I can think of quite a few 'definately Anime' things which deviate
from the norm in these areas quite a bit(or at least quite a bit on the
scale I'm using, which may be compleatly differant to you). For instance
the heads in Dragon ball are very differant to thoses in Ah! My Goddess, The
eyes in Ninja Scroll & Wicked City are very thin compared to Pokemon,
Clamp(Card Captor Sakura, X) draw bodies very long & thin, where Neon
Genesis is mostly proportiand realisticly, & the Hair in Tenchi is a far cry
from Knight Sabers. I do also concede that most people probably just see
all of these as 'cartoons what look japanesey'. & I'm not saying there
aren't similaities, just that the idear that one anime looks pretty much
like the next isn't something I really agree with.

>if it were so completely different like you say it wouldnt even be

I don't belive I ever said it was compleatly different. I noted that while
paying atention to the subtleties it looked pretty different.

That's true, but I don't find it any more restrictive to deversity than any
genre is.

Um, the guy who did Astro Boy? Or am I over looking someone.

True nuff its just weird stuff our GM threw into so
that we couldn't keep making every move a fireball or
what not so I've grown used to it.

Alright keep your stats but make the damage modifer +0
and have it hit 3 times. It is an awe inspiring move
of death that almost always ends the match. (Like I
said I like the system just not the damage) Course
doing it that way would mean standard play would be
akuma plays move waits for them to do attack and then
moves in so next turn pow end game. Hmmm supers are
hard to do as normal moves. Maybe its just best not
to use supers without your optional super rules (which
I haven't looked at yet.) Or leave it your way so
that it is an awe inspiring move but only in akuma's
hands (who is the only one that would be able to do it
anyway)

Yeah kinda overlooked that.
