Its an amazing game. I love it.

Its based on a Japanese manga supposedly.

In story mode you play Ippo who is a featherweight fighter. Supposedly you
were picked on until you decided to train and become a boxer and get tough.

The first match is just a sparring match in the gym where you work out.
The second match is a pro test. You have to win the match to go to the pro
circuit and the third match is your first professional fight.

The controls are a little weird. You have to use the analog joystick to
move, circle and if you tap it Ippo will duck, weave, step back, etc.

In the first pro fight your manager tells you that your opponent has a
strong right, so try to avoid it. So I circled left most of the match. At
one point, I got pinned in a corner where my opponent beat me senseless
until I was able to get out. He then walked into a right hook, left jab,
and a right uppercut that knocked him out at the beginning of the fourth
round.

I think I'm going to convert Ippo to Street Fighter.

Also, I got 100 dollars worth of gift certificates for the local mall. I'm
thinking of buying another PS2 game.

Anyone got any recommendations? All I got so far is Batman Vengeance,
Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance, Smackdown: Just Bring it and Victorious
Boxers. I'm thinking of getting the Bouncer but my friend said I could just
borrow his.

Hope everyone had a great holidays.

Well, if you wanna talk about Dark Gods, here's a must: If anyone
here has the Contenders book, you probably have seen some very
nasty guy called Ravana, a Rakshasa freed from his imprisonement
by the hindu gods (that, truth be said, are mostly the same entities
followed in China, Japan and most Southeast Asia).

You know what ? Surprise ! He's more than A rakshasa, he's THE
rakshasa, the greatest of demons, the king of the asuras who,
together with his brothers Kumbakarna & Kubera, are the antithesis
of the bramane cosmic trinity (Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva).
In the legend, it took the power of the whole trinity (and their
respective holy weapons) just to bring him to a mortal form, where
he would then be definitely killed by Rama, an avatar of Vishnu.

Well, it seems a part of the legend was wrong, as the Demon Lord is
back in the mortal world, in mortal form, but alive. What is he waiting
to return to his true form ? Maybe the 3 holy weapons that made him
mortal ?

And still talking of Contenders, the Unspeakables team is a bunch of
Call of Cthulhu creatures playing at being streetfighters. Ss'lustka is
a female of the Serpent Men (yup, those monsters from Kull &
Conan stories', Lovecraft used them too) The Thing that Should not
Be is a Shoggoth, the Mollusk is someone altered by some
unrevealed Great Old One (might be Cthulhu, Dagon or someone
else) and their manager is a deep one/human hybrid ! Curious, uh ?

Great mix-up of anime, video and movies. While you are at it, the
"Mars" from the Fatal Fury movie could as well be the "war god"
Ogre from Tekken 3 & Tekken: Tag Tournament

Just suggestions...

It certainly is a fine course to take and will save you from lots of
headache. And speaking of Blanka, what the HELL was his mother
doin' in Mriganka in d original SF 2 ? The way it ends, it doesn't look
like she was a kidnap victim like Ken's Elisa or Guile's daughter. And
is it me, or she recognized him by the CHAINS he had in his ankles

as best i can remember little blanka (jimmy) was in a plane crash and
the only survivor. he was raised by animals etc. so became green.
then when he wins the tournament his mom recognizes him by the
same "anklets" he used to wear.....

I dont think mriganka was part of his story.

but i could be wrong.

DOA2?

:-)

DOA2. Big, bouncing breasts, insane graphics and cool characters. What
more could a red-blooded male want? :-)

Thanks Mat, Ill probably take you up on that. Only problem is that Ippo is
a rank 1 fighter at the moment. So he doesnt have a lot of Maneuvers. I
think I may continue to update him as I go through the game.

<<bouncer is good, also i got spy hunter for x mas and it seems really

Well, instead of buying one game I decided I am going to buy Bouncer, DOA2,
and Tekken Tag...all used and all for less than it would cost to buy one new
game. :)

Hey guys,

I hear that the old gaming magazine "Adventures Unlimited", kind of like the
"Dungeon" magazine for DnD, had articles and adventures for the Street
Fighter RPG. I think that it was either issue #3 or #4. Also, White Wolf
Magazine's that had the two articles, one was a promo I think in issue #43,
but Mike Tinney did an article called, "Best of the Best" about NPCs in
issue #50.

Does anyone have any of these?

Well, the poll ends soon, so if you haven't voted go soon.

The results are... interesting.

The majority of responses seem to want the stories to be about things they can drop more easily into their games.  Pro World Warrior and anti-World Warrior are very close, though neither incites much of a response.

And a number of you want less or no supernatural in my stories.

So far, no one seems to want 'Legends' to remain unchanged, which is a bit of a problem.

Remember: your opinions matter.

Let this be a year of hope for all mankind.

1- Contribute more gaming material to Warrior's Pride.
2- Actually get 'Lost Souls' going (I mean, the lead-in was in WP 3!  This writer's block is getting rediculous!)
3- Attain complete global conquest.

Hey guys,

I was wondering, do any of you know where there is a GOOD free web space service? One that can use most any type of ftp program and that uses pop-up banners, as opposed to placing a banner on top of each frame (which is happening at 0catch.com). Freesevers was cool, but they went pay for ftp, and I am not paying to have rpg pages up! Any advice would be appreciated.

Go to the files section and get Warrior's Pride.  Each issue has an installment of "Legends of the Circuit".

nope, frames and free pages dont mix.
I used a bit of jscript to get rid of my geocities banners on another
page of mine for a while but then their script changed to counteract
it, so theyre on to me:).

now geocities uses little pop up things instead of banners but they
are weird and im not sure if thats what you mean. if you like the
pop ups on my page use geocities.

Im about to move my site to a NO ad server, but thats only free as a
favor from a contact I made when I had a fetish page.

Wow! I just (finally!) got around to reading the new Warriors Pride
and I'm honored that one of the NPC's was using my Gun rules from

(Shiver runs down spine.) When you build on the past like that, it
kind of lends credence to our little pocket of madness that we call
the Street Fighter e-group (or did, anyway). Over the last few years
I've seen lots of great ideas posted here and I've heard the
phrase "keeping the game alive" used more than once. Great job on
the magazine, guys! When it comes to keeping this game going,
Warrior's Pride is one of the key ways to do that and IMO the best
success we've had so far. My New Years Resolution is to start

replace the one someone stole from me & Transformers: the Movie and...
didn't someone say that Darkstalkers had a movie?

So could we get a little video product list like we did Street Fighter? (And
if anyone knows where I can find an episode guide to the old US Darkstalkers
cartoon, I'd much appreciate it.)

Would anyone be interested in reading an ongoing tale of beginning Street
Fighters as they all come together and form a team and further tales with
each issue? If so, I will write one for this publication.

I have to say that I stopped reading when I saw some of the Contenders
practicing Majestic Crow Kung Fu, and still more with Flaming Dragon Punch.
I have to say that there is something rewarding in reading a tale that
begins at the beginning, not with an accomplished fighter. But hey, I am
not just going to do it for my own gratification, only if enough people say
they would be intereted in reading it.

speaking of moo kung fu....
anyone else here seen the ads for "Kung Pow: Enter the Fist"?

I cant tell if its just stupid enough to be hilarious or too stupid...
but theres a big scene where a guy is kung fu fighting a big CG cow.

in one sequence it sprays milk at him and he throws himself back to
dodge like neo and the camera goes into bullet time.

man that never gets old! lol

I certainly would.  It would be nice to be surprised by the fiction section for a change.

I have to say that I stopped reading when I saw some of the Contenders
practicing Majestic Crow Kung Fu, and still more with Flaming Dragon Punch.

You know, there IS more to Warrior's Pride than the NPCs.  Try actually giving it a chance.  You might be pleasantly surprised.

What do you guys prefer?

I would prefer to see it in Warrior's Pride, but the story has to be published in the medium that serves it best.

Well, it would be nice if you were to put it in Warrior's Pride, but
I want to see these stories regardless, so do whichever is easier for
you.

If you do choose to go with the pride, just remember that issues come
out ever two months (unless of course, _something goes wrong_).
