What I want to know is why he hand that bandage on his head that kept

Agreed!

-But- how about someone who actually _looks_ like an Native American from
the SW?
Gregg Rainwater is Osage/Cherokee/Irish ... at least they could've cast
someone huge, then done what they could with make-up. It's not like he was
in a lot of scenes. And as it was, when he Guile, and Cammie got out of the
boat, he was smaller that the Shadowlaw goon he was fighting!

Ah well...

Tim Sampson (son of Will Sampson, "Chief" in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's
Nest) clocks in around 6'6", and he's been an actor since 1989, according
to the IMDb.

Not saying they had to drop everything and cast him. But they could have.

Forever easily amused, I am.

Time to dig my copy of SF:LAM out of the cabinet and watch it again, I'm afraid. I'm sure I'll find more.

He got it during the prison fight scene. One of the
prisoners (who, btw, was actually Benny "the Jet"
Urquidez, high ranking black-belt in 9 styles and the
fight choreographer for the entire movie), plants a
strike right upside T.Hawk's head.

Or he got it when the prisoners were escaping. The
back gate of the paddywagon smacked him.

I can't quite remember it... one of those two.

Shortly after (or before, it's been a while) they put
out "The Official Street Fighter Movie Guide (tm)", as
publicity for the movie. In it were interviews with
Van Dam and Raul Julia, a synopsis for the movie,
production notes, an article on Benny Urquidez, an
actor's roll call, and two double-sided posters. One
had Bison on one side and Cammy standing next to
Chun-li on the other, the other (half sized) had Vega
on one side, and Blanka on the other.

Some interesting facts:

Raul Julia had to make sure he was playing Bison
right, since his son, a MAJOR Bison fan, was on site
watching them film. Also, going into filming, Raul
was just coming out of a bout of malaria (I think)
from another movie he had just recently filmed
beforehand.

"Captain" Sawada (yes, Sawada is his real name) tried
out for the part of Ryu, but the directors were so
impressed with him, they decided to rewrite part of
the script and give him his own character.

I mentioned this in another e-mail, but Benny "the
Jet" Urquidez, high ranked black-belt in 9 different
styles was not only the fight choreographer, but he
also cameoed in the prison fight scene. Also, as he
trained the non-martial artist actors, he was "most
proud of Raul, because he showed the most
improvement."

As for Zangief, I don't think he was really all that
stupid. The actual term for him is "naive". But
yeah, "Change the channel!" Good one.

THat's about all I can remember from the guide. I'll
have to look through my archives and find it again.
Stay tuned!

Josh

theyre both by ASCII but this is RPGmaker2000 and there is also a
RPGmaker95 so im not sure which one is also on playstation (ive never
played the playstation version, though i LOVED fightermaker)

Some russian programmer translated it from japanese, probably in the
time where it didnt look like they werer gonna bring it to america.

His names Don Miguel and his site is http://go.to/rm2k

you can do a lot that you cant do on playstation though like import
your own graphics, sounds, avi cutscenes etc.

Why not use RPG Maker for the RPG element of your games and 2D fighter
maker for the tournaments and other stuff?

(Perhaps I should try both of these applications before I got shooting

As far as I know, there's only the animation. Now let's Marge Simpson it
and never speak of it again.

As for Crying Freeman live action, I've never seen it, but this whole thread
has me thinking of live action movies that would have made better anime.
Take, for example, Alien Resurrection. I personally thought it didn't fit
with the other "Alein" movies, but if it had been treated as a generic
sci-fi movie, and animated, I would have liked it more. Also "The Big
Hit," and "The Corruptor," both staring Mark Wahlberg, for some reason.

Did rolls in Kenpo tonight.
Got me thinking if and how it could be incorporated into the SF RPG. I
don't feel like digging out my books to see if rolls are there, but if
they're not they should have the following effects:

Reduce knockdown - like kippup.
Reduce knockdown damage - like breakfall
move character 1 or 2 hexes in the direction of the roll (forward or
backward).

Thoughts?

Sorry if it's already in the game somewhere. It'd be interesting to see
how close I came to the mark.

Well there is Drunken Monkey Roll.

Athletics: 2
Kung Fu 1, Capoeira, Wu Shu 2

The Drunken Monkey Roll is a good all purpose evasive technique. It counts
as a crouching maneuver because it stays low to the ground. It can also be
used to interrupt and evade projectile attacks (use the same rules given
under the jump special maneuver).
Cost: None
Speed: +3
Damage: None
Move: +2

yes but in judo (and kenpo i learned, thanks to fred) the rolls are
done after a throw.

it reduces the damage from a throw and also puts you back on your
feet faster than if you had to get up (in real life i mean) so the
new roll should emulate that kind of.

drunken monkey roll is just done out of the blue, not in response to
being thrown.

hiya steve,
to answer your question, it could have a movement that is different
from breakfall, it could also be used to duck projectiles maybe,
depending on the creators interpretation. and breakfall does not
require you to play a card, but a roll might, depending on the
interpretation of the creator.

also, if indeed it needed a card played its speed damage and move
would be different from breakfall, cuz breakfall has neither of these
three things. and the method for reducing damage might be different
because the character is dividing his attention between breaking his
fall and getting to his feet (-) or because it is a more advanced
breakfall (+)

tell me in how many ways besides one does a move have to be different
to warrant making it a new move?

it is not like drunken monkey, it is not like kippup, and it is not
like breakfall.

it is a combination of some of the aspects of each.

Most forms of kenpo are a happy blend of Karate, Kung Fu and Jiu Jitsu
(hence the falls and rolls). But like Kung Fu, there are several
flavours, so this doesn't always apply.

You would end up 1 or two hexes from where the roll commenced.

Matt's pretty much covered it more verbosely than I have. A roll doesn't
happen automatically. A fighter can always breakfall (and some will
still prefer to d this). However a roll can get you out of a dangerous
situation if your opponent plans on following up on their move.

So I was say a roll does need a card since it's a called maneuver played
in the place of a breakfall.

Hi all. I'm new to the list. Are there any character
generators out there for this game?

Welcome Jason.

Matt, I went to go find the link to your Javascrpt character generator
thingie and it's not in the Files section of the site anymore.

Do you still have it?

Okay, I just read up on breakfall...and it negates everything we've
discussed about rolls.

quote form pg.115 on Contenders:
"..Breakfall is usually performed as a roll onto the shoulders and arms,
with the head tucked in top protect against neck injuries..."

The only reason I thought this might be different is because we've learned
two forms of this. Breakfall I've been taught is the act of falling in such
a way that impact is reduced, but it's still a stationary fall. Rolling is
what's described above.
I guess in the Street Fighter World this has been wraped into one. I just
wanted to see if the movement factor could be played up a bit more.

I have the next best thing, new guy. it doesnt generate a whole
character but you can pick your moves and it generates all the
numbers 4 them (speed damage move and text)

It is @ my site, which is @ http://www.geocities.com/necro6hit/ in
the downloads section.

-Matt

P.s. I moved it from the files section a little while back fred,
trying to make room for the rpgmaker install, but i still didnt have
enough room.

Okay.. I have now gone and done something drastic.

I have mad a Mailing list RPG campaign for SF:stg.
I need to know if anyone si interested in joinin such a campaign.
before I start creating compendiums and such.

It will happen in the real world, but there will be some slightly
technological chnages.
I accept everything in The books, and I will take in whatever
suggestions for considerations.
I will do some changes from the books too.
e.g.: Cybernetics will be modified into another more cool system.(I hope)
I will ask for your opinion on most of the changes I do.

So just come join the Ultimate warrior now.. ^_^
