Subject: Re: Bouncer and Help!
| Sion: Decided to use my custom Kenpo setup for his moves. Figured using
| common manuevers would account for the "basic street fighting" aspect of
his
| style.

Shotokan Karate unless you have a more preferable version of Kempo.
He also has a spinning clothesline maneuver which isn't permitted to SK
practisioners, but rules are made to bend anyway.

| Volt: Sambo or straight wrestling?

Straight Wrestling.

| Kou: USing the tae kwon do kit from Warrior's World.

Tae-Kwan-Do. Make sure you give him lightning leg!! :)

| Echidna: Capoeira, of course.

Of course.

| PD: THe game book says Muay Thai, which I agree with. I'll be adding
| extendible limbs of course, though I think I may go from the cybernetic
side
| of things.

Definalty a cyborg kickboxer. Whether it's Muay-Thai or Western is up to you
I guess. I would have said Western.

| Dominique

She's a strange one. She has some pretty brutal moves and is pleasently to
the point. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

| Mugetsu

Ninjitsu. Even though his title has Special Forces all over it, his quick
fighting style and super-human speed lends itself more to a Ninja.

| Dauragon (thinking wushu)

Wu-shu. Although he studied under the same teacher as Sion, the game didn't
seem to think that it would make the two students fight the same. No Ken and
Ruy action here.

| Leann Caldwell

Special Forces. She's a red headed Cammy.

| Kaldea (again haven't met her, or least fought her in human form)

Another weirdo.
Probably Kung Fu or Western Kickboxing. I think Kung Fu may be more
appropriate.

You also forgot Master Wong (who you'll get to fight if you pick Sion for
the last fight of the game ONLY. Use Volt and Kou up to this point).

Master Wong is also either Kung Fu or Wu-Shu. Since Dauragon his prized
pupil is Wu-Shu you may want to follow-suit, but isn't Wu-shu a sporty form
of Kung Fu anyway?

Hey yah I remeber you commenting on that. It seems to be a resonable
conclusion, but we have no proof for the Alpha series and 3rd strike.

But we definatly do see differneces in character ages. Especially oin 3rd
strike. As a point of info, We do not know what happen to Bison.
But according to Gill, the destruction in Shadoloo is due to Chun Li.

Subject: Nothings Silly about Akuma =)

-Good Question.... and one that I had wondered about for a while.  Often times Akuma is represented as Imense--- especially in pictures featuring Ryu also. The scene from the Anime, and the cover art from Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Which was just a modifications of a Ryu + Sagat BW drawing from Alpha 1) would indicate that Akuma is a hefty bit taller/thicker that Ryu is. However, reagadless of him have a tall puft of hair, and at times wearing sandles: In any of the games he is mearly a head swap of Ryu and Ken A la Dan or Sean. This would mean that they stand no more than a inch or to different, and this seems the more likely case.
In Street Fighter Alpha 3 (US) it lists Akuma at 5'8" and 177lbs. -------but it lists Ryu at 5'7" and 143lbs which is smaller than the 5' 10" 150 lbs. he is normally listed.  I Know than they make Ryu LOOK younger in the Alpha games, but still... he would have been 26 at that time and I seriously doubt that he would have grown any towards the SF2 game.  The SFA3 stats (Jap/Outside US.) posted in the 'Links Section' list

Name: Ryu
Birthdate: 21/07/1964.
Height: 175cm
Weight: 68kg

Name: Gouki Long
Birthdate: Unknown
Age: 48yrs
Height: 178cm
Weight: 80kg
That meas they are listed as about 5' 9" and 5' 10" respectively. Which is a little closer to what we would excpect.

All in all, the best we can say is that Akuma Stands 1-2 inches taller than Ryu, (Usually billed at 5' 10") and he may look taller due to the fact that he wares sandals often (those tall Japanese platform sandals too) and he has hair taken from Bart Simpson.  Hope that helps.

Any of you wonderful folks out there have the "official" physical stats of
Akuma handy?  Not Strength, Dexterity and Stamina, mind you...but height and

I think the gist was that L5R is being CONVERTED to d20... not
necessarily a 'real' oriental adventures supplement... same thing
that they're doing with Cthulu... essentially... wonder how much
support it'll have (seeing as how the actual L5R game has an enormous
number of books...)

Subject: Re: Gateway Tournament 2 Bouts - Group 8: Randy "The Panzer Fist O
I believe the reference "Panzer Fist" is actually the martial art "Panzer
Faust" (Armored Fist, i.e. a martial art style used when armored or
perhaps considered to be especially powerful against armored opponents),
used by Battle Angel Alita in the Anime/Manga of the same name.

I have a file which I believe to be the Battle Angel Alita anime, but I
haven't seen it yet. Its intro is very similar to the manga, however.

In Battle Angel Alita, all fighters are heavily cyborged, and the Battle
Angel herself is gifted with the most powerful 'borg body of them all.
Utilizing the powers of that body, she is discovered to be a practitioner
of the secret/believed-extinct martial art style known as "Panzer Faust".
And promptly proceeds to lay some serious smack down, of course.

So there's what I believe to be the correct answer to your implicit
question, Rinaldo ;-)

Well, I don't know any more where I found the reference. As far as I
remember, it was merely an off-hand remark, found in either one of the
bios on the TSR web site, or one of their semi-regular columns. As such, I
haven't been able to find it again. (Which, incidentally, is becoming a
regular problem for me. They have an excellent web site, but looking for
something you know is there, but is a bit fuzzy on is a major pain in the
behind...)

I did check their publication calendar, though, and it isn't slated for
2001, at least. From what I remember, it was slated for 2002, though. I
just don't remember any more ;-)

I've noticed that in the gateway tournaments Forward Backflip Kick can be
used to avoid an attack and still strike.
Forward Backflip Kick has no backward movement according to Shades of Gray
and can't be used to both strike and avoid an attack (except a Grab I
suppose). On the plus side, it hits Aerial opponents twice and knocks them
down ^^ Unless of course, you want to say it does purposes of the Gateway
Tournament.

I'm curious to see if I've interpreted this move correctly. I'm sure the
rest of the list will jump if they think I'm wrong ^^

Subject: [streetfighter] Silly question about Akuma

Hello,

Any of you wonderful folks out there have the "official" physical stats of
Akuma handy?  Not Strength, Dexterity and Stamina, mind you...but height and
weight?  Thanks for any help!

Subject: Gateway: Honor/Glory/Exp question
Rinaldo-

Did you figure out glory/honor for the bouts that have taken place
yet? And for those fighters that have won their bouts and gained
experience, would you let them spend the experience before the next
bout, or would you prefer that we wait until the end of the Gateway
Tournment (or after we lose a bout)?

Thanks!

Jonathan aka "Cross" (still wondering about his PC pic...) :)

Well I see 2 fonts sources to this movement (one: Charts from many homepages
two: Enciclpodia combatica from J.Scott Pittman), any of them say about
movement but if the name is backflip kick and movement 2 (I think the user
retreat 2 hexes like backflip kick).

Foward Backflip Kick*(screen 8) The fighter runs up, leaps toward, and
strikes with a airborne backflip kick
Kick Maneuver
To Learn: The fighter first learns Jump {athletics 1} and Backflip Kick
{kick 2, athletics 2}, in any order he chooses. Then he is ready to learn
Foward Backflip Kick {kick 3, athletics 3, backflip kick, jump}
Power Points: caporeia, spanish ninjitsu, wu shu 1, kung fu, special forces
2, any 3
caporeia, spanish ninjitsu, wu shu 1
System: if the maneuver scores a strike against an airborne opponent, it
causes two damage tests.
Modifiers: cost: 1 willpower, speed +2, damage +1, move Two

Forward Backflip Kick
Prerequisites: Kick ***, Athletics ***, Backflip Kick, Jump

Description: With this move the fighter jumps up towards his/her opponent,
and executes a backflip in the air and kicks. This maneuver is especially
effective against airbourne opponents.

System: This maneuver is most effectively played as an interrupt. If the
oppoent is performing an Aerial maneuver he/she is knocked down and suffers
two damage tests as the kcik strikes twice.

Cost: 1 Willpower
Speed: +2
Damage: +1
Move: 2
