You could say that, but I think there is always more than one way to do
something. Thus, being taught a new stance (possibly some ancient secret)
you find that it has advantages over your old stance (such as that
infamous Crane Stance from the Karate Kid). The Stance rules I posted
also imply not just a new stance but extra time and effort put into
preparing to do a maneuver.

Yeah, I think it's pretty similar to the old 2d10 die combat / 1-30 stat
range game. But, it's been modified and tweaked to be Blood of Heroes. I
know what Steve means about it not being that great a game if all the
characters will be around the same power level (all normal humans - they
would have stats very close to each other - I think you want more
intricate detail), but it would be simple.
I still think it was a great fun system (I liked having the easy
benchmarks next to the attribute). A strength of 1 would be a baby, and a
30 would be "destroy solar systems when I flex my wrist."
Only reason I know this is that one of the people I gamed with in college
is one the people involved with the Blood of Heroes thing (heck, my
college character even made it into one of the NPC books).
Subject: Re: does anybody have any cool adv. ideas?
While Batman did have a 10 in Dexterity, I beleive
he had lower scores in other attributes like strength and body. I do remember
his mental and spiritual scores being around a 10, also. But the book did tell
you the human maximums and Batman did not exceed those.
Before Street Fighter was ever released, I
made a list of "master combat maneuvers" for the old game. Each one modified
your scores when used (-1 here, +1 there kind of thing). It really worked
well.
IMO, the system worked just as well for
lowered power characters as it does for higher owered characters, even if human
scores fell within 1-6 (through 10 for some scores). Having "small" attributes
doesnt mean you have a bad game - can we think of another system that uses
scores 1-5 for normal humans? Class? Class? Anyone?

Are we talking about the old DC system by Mayfair

DC Heroes is one of the best systems ever!
Why?
1. The effects are much more realistic than
those mentioned by Steve (no offense).
2. It can be very easily converted to
almost any system.
3. You can make characters with almost any
power level and the numbers stay small
4. It's a simple system
5. It has rules for role-playing as well as
combat mechanics, like player-initiated subplots

DC Heroes? Isn't that the one where you
use a matrix table to figure out the result of any skill check, and

about making on-line books. We contacted White Wolf and asked if we could write
the books up, with full credits, even without Street Fighter-related material,

would be in violation of copyright laws.
Here is the kicker - they kept telling me
(as the mailer) that I needed to re-read their first response, when my second

related material, and without the artwork, and we would even send them a copy of
the file for their approval if they liked. Talk about needinf to read the

Well, that's their decision if they do not
want to allow anyone to pass out a set of rules that they have disowned and
forgotten for some 8 years or so, but I don't see where it could have led to
anything other than interest in their other products from people not interested
in WW products at this time. Oh well.
I never did claim that WW gives a arn about
their customers. Ever tried getting Street Fighter material questions
answered? I sent them a letter with three questions a year ago. They
answered one of the questions, ingnoring the others, and the reply only took,
oh, four months? I'm sure these guys are busy, but a successful company such as
theirs could set up some kind of person to answer questions, or at least they
could have an automated response thing. There's not even a questions link for
Street Fighter on their home page - how lame! The set was five books. People who

That's enough for now.

Yes.
Superman can throw a hamburger into orbit.
Nothing in the rules about friction, though.

Just remembered something a GM did
to our group.
He's on this list, by the way.
Hi, Ronin.
He ran a campaign he called
"somewhere over the rainbow"
where us players were strangely
transported through rifts in time
and space, caused by unknown powers.
This transferrence was like a
rainbow tunnel that just sucked us
in, with surrounding furniture,
cars or whatever, and we sometimes
fell, sometimes landed gently somewhere else,
sometime else.
There were two groups playing in this
campaign. The settings I can remember
were; Far future, where Bison had
taken control, and he was replacing
the normal populace with cyborgs,
for easier control. There were
resistance troops, of course,
very funny.
The other group was in the
medevial ages, on a viking raid.
Then we went to the Wild West,
and met up with one from the other group.
This was all pretty confusing, but very
much fun. Never did we reach a conclusion, though.
What I liked most was the far future
desperation setting. Was kind of
Terminatoresque in regards to the future.
Plus degenerated mutants, of course.

No no no, thats by Mayfair games. the new one is by West End Games,
the guys who made Star Wars, and the Indiana Jones Rpg.
but I am familier with the Mayfair version; the strength is doubling
Rank Hero Str. Normal Str.
0 50lbs. 25lbs.
1 100lbs. 50lbs.
2 200lbs. 100lbs.
3 400lbs. 200lbs.
4 800lbs. 400lbs.
5 1600lbs. 800lbs.
and so on, but for realism, people without any super human powers,
use the second set, puts them closer to Streetfighter levels.

Well, since I regularly read alt.games.whitewolf and am on the Oracle
Werewolf list, I do know that a number of WWGS staffers would love to
resurect SFtSG, but unfortunately Capcom pulled the licence. (They even have
a book done that was never printed.) Now the original contributors have all
moved on to other pursuits.
Unfortunately, since it ~does~ use pretty much the same game mechanics as
their core lines of books, it'd set a very bad precident if they allowed it
done. The next guy comes along with 'Vampire 2nd Edition isn't in print
anymore, and you let that guy put up an out of print book' is not a defense
they want their lawyers to deal with.
(PS, the game was doing fairly well when Capcom pulled the licence, so WWGS
was certainly not happy to see it go.)

Just for fun me and my friends always in discution and the subjects are all the
same how we can kill a hero with clean job and without a planet destruction. A
noble example Wolverine (I known everybody like him).
To kill Wolverine:
1) The City end theory: Just use a nuclear bomb (much noise and nothing reast)
2) Throw the guy using a dimesional portal (he always can come back)
3) Put the hero in a rocket and blow him when he reach the space (probaly
Wolverine will crash the doors and escape first)
I have simple mode:
Take a litle gun could be .38 should work fine (warning the user must be a real
good shooter or have much luck) after this shoot and hit Wolverine eye, the eyes
aren´t protect by addamantium but the skull is, so the bullet make a good efect
inside the brain of this hero (I think his power won´t work if the guy have a
quick death).
So someone plan a dead for another hero?

Hmmm... I remember doing this yes.
In addition to Far-future, Medievil Vikings and Wild West, I also sent the other group to the medievil Britain, fighting in a war against Knights . They were also in the jurassic timeperiod, meeting mister Tyrannosaurus Rex, and visited Atlantis as she sank into the sea.
One of My funniest campaigns actually.
I had many more plans, but we never seemed to get the time to finish it.. Sadly though..

Hi, Ronin.
He ran a campaign he called
"somewhere over the rainbow"
where us players were strangely
transported through rifts in time
and space, caused by unknown powers.
This transferrence was like a
rainbow tunnel that just sucked us
in, with surrounding furniture,
cars or whatever, and we sometimes
fell, sometimes landed gently somewhere else,
sometime else.
There were two groups playing in this
campaign. The settings I can remember
were; Far future, where Bison had
taken control, and he was replacing
the normal populace with cyborgs,
for easier control. There were
resistance troops, of course,
very funny.
The other group was in the
medevial ages, on a viking raid.
Then we went to the Wild West,
and met up with one from the other group.
This was all pretty confusing, but very
much fun. Never did we reach a conclusion, though.
What I liked most was the far future
desperation setting. Was kind of
Terminatoresque in regards to the future.
Plus degenerated mutants, of course.
One adv. that I ran was when my pc's teamed with chimu nihon but
through a misunderstanding a fight broke out with them, although they
mopped the floor with them...the real villians came out and mopped the
floor with them and killed 2 pc's and kidnapped orihime and a player
character...so the pc's had to team up with chimu nihon (the one's
that weren't really injured!) and rescue them...it sort of transformed
into "Big Trouble in Little China" but I was like "hey why not?"
so I ran it
what ya'll think?

Your theory is sound except for one problem in the
whole Onslaught story there is this file on how to
kill wolverine. It ststed the to kill wolverine you
must dismember him and than seprtate the peices for
death to set in. your gun brain idea is probably
ulsess sabertooth who by most accounts has weaker
regeneration than wolverine has survived being stabbed
threw the skull by wolverines adamanteium claws.

Also I have read wolverine dying many times in the comics, in each
one he remained dead, but never in the regular comic book conituity.
Examples:
Bones were turned to jelly by Thanos; result: insting death as his
brain was crushed by his body weight. came back: due to time being
reversed
Had Heart ripped out and beaten sevearely; by really powerful demon
guy totally demolished him; result: he died but a single drop of
blood landed on a specil crystal. came back: for a short time he
literly was god, reconstructed his body moleclue by molecule,
obliterated his enemy, then gave godhood up just be the way he was
Was Blasted by a super Sentinal; Result: incinerated all his flesh,
intirely he died and stayed dead. Come back: there wasnt one it was
in Nightmares of Future past (or something like that)
Was made into a vampire by Dracula; Result: killed Dracula and made
himself king of the vampire, until punisher (aided by Dr. Strange)
killed him. come back: none he wash ashed totally even his bones. it
was in a What If . . comic

Batman (DC Heroes Third
Edition)
Dex 9, Str 5, Body 6
Int 12, Will 12, Mind 10
Infl 10, Aura 8, Spirit 10
Batman, in the rpg and comics, did not
have the skills of animal handling, all artist skills except acting,
medicine, and occultist.
I think you were thinking of his mental/spiritual
attributes as opposed to physical. Batman has the human maximums in physical
attributes except for Dexterity, which has a maximum of a 10 for normal humans
(and some npcs have). Batman's skills top him over most normal humans in combat
(but not all - thereare some villains in the Batman sourcebook that are better
than he is).

oh, and J. Scott; in case you've forgotten, World of
Darkness: Combat uses the Street Fighter system, almost to the
letter. So it's not simply a case of "SF is out of print, why can't
we rewrite it?", it's a case of "White Wolf cannibalized the system for WoD
so it could stay in print without the SF license." That is one of the
reasons why what you were proposing wouldn't fly, they've already done
it.

Yes. Superman
can throw a hamburger into orbit. Nothing in the rules about friction,
though. Enjoyed the game. If you're gonna be super, this is the
game. If you're gonna be a great, souped-up, power-bristling egomaniac
warrior, Street Fighter is IT.
However, the Evil Corporation White
Wolf has released a SuperHero roleplaying game named Aberrant, which
some of you may know. The heroes and antagonists in this game have got
an overgrown gland in their brain that gives the control of something
referred to as "Quantum Power", revealing itself in a diversity of
bizarre and familiar superpowers. Haven't played it yet, but hope to try
it soon. Maybe Aberrant material could be used with Street
fighter? Maybe it's not necessary.

There was also an issue of What If called What If the Hulk Killed Wolverine.
It took place right before fall of the mutants and Hulk and Wolvie mixed it
up. Hulk just kept getting stronger and stronger until he snapped Wolvies
neck. Dont know why his healing factor didnt kick in. But it was cool. Hulk
killed Wolverine. Then went on to kill a bunch of X-Men. :) It was neat.
But Hulk died at the end.

Sorry.... Just have to make a side question on something STREET FIGHTER
related.
Anyone found a good place online to get any Capcom Art, in particular
from the more recent SF3 games? It's a crying shame that Cap o' USA's
homepage really doesn't do SFers much good. It looks like Cap o' Jap is alot
bettter, but I can't read Japanese so I'm stuck.

SF3 New Generation--- SF3 Second Impact : Giant Attack---
and---- SF3: Third Strike: Fight for the Future
That is the order of chronology from earliest to latest for the games
released in the arcade.
On the DC:
"SF3: Double impact (this includes SF3:NG, and
SF3Si:GA on one disc)"
And
SF3: Third Strike (which is plain ol-third
strike)
They have both american ones now, and will run
you around $35+ each. Arcade perfect practically. If you do get it tho, I highly
recommend that you buy a Game Shark 6 botton Pad, or other playing controler.
Trigger bottons just don't cut it for Street FIghter.
I have both of the games, so any questions just
ask.

Should be something for well-nigh everyone there. Now don't go around

I'm currently using Gen's graphics for my "ancient ninja master" character
in the campaign I'm in. We get bonus xp for making custom foldups - and
it's easier than you think :-)
Subject: Re: And now for something completely different... .
There are two SFIII games for the Dreamcast.
Double Strike (has both I and II)
and Third Strike.
Third strike hasn't been released in the USA yet. Third Strike is by far
the best, with many more characters than either one or two and beautiful
graphics.
Since we discussed Rugal Bernstein recently and my group just killed him,
I thought I'd provide his stats for anyone curious.
I'll eventually convert more characters (because I don't think anyone has
done every SNK character yet).
I currently have on-line my take on the Ikari Team (final stats - not the
ones I use in my game yet), Fatal Fury team (Joe pending), and Rugal.
Subject: CHAMPS question...haaaaay J. Scott Pitman!!!
I've been looking through CHAMPS (IMHO it's a great
idea...spelling and grammer errors aside ;) and something that should have been
done by WW at the start...) and i've gotten hung up on style
creation.
Could you clarify your style creation a bit
better?
1) Exactly what are 'required maneuvers?'
2) Could you perhaps provide an example of style creation? You
made an example for everything else, but not style creation.
Ummm...that's it for now.

I was screwing around with the CHAMPS system...and I wanted to
know if I did the math correctly.
I would just e-mail Pittman directly, but I thought it would
be more fun to e-mail the whole list.
I haven't typed up the full move descriptions yet...but here
is what I have so far.
Demon Fist
Punch + Focus
Maneuver
Path: First the fighter must learn Psychokinetic Channeling
(focus 3.)
The fighter attacks his opponent with a punch engulfed in
hellfire that spreads to the opponent’s body after knocking him clean off his
feet.
Special Power
Point Modifiers: -6 from Shockwave = 3
Power Points:
Zack’s North American Blend 1, Any 3
Jeff
PS: Yes,
Zack's North American Blend is the name of the fighting style.

Sounds like fun!
Take a film plot and place
the heroes in the main character's roles,
then run the storyline, filling in
and improvising when the players
break out of the cage.
Only change it a bit, so the
players don't recognize it at once.
hm.

I never got the format the way I wanted it, but it should give you a

the characters sheets to a printable format... What can I say though,
I'm usually too busy playing the games to actually work on my page...

The new "ring" has no problems whatsoever. Web Ring
kept booting pages off our list, as it uses some type of (flawed) automated
system. I fooled around with We Ring for about a month and finally had to ditch
it. The new club looks and feels very similar, and I am in total control over
it, so there won't be any more of the getting booted for no reason.

Sorry, I never claimed to be a great spelling champion. My
official stuff (Dragonslayer Games) is always checked and triple checked for
grammer and spelling, but not the stuff I do for fun. I figure the basic
message comes across, though.
>>Could you clarify your style creation a bit

>>1) Exactly what are 'required maneuvers?'
Where it states that a character must pick required maneuvers to equal his
negative point score from Tags, it is actually referring to Associated Maneuvers
(2 points per Maneuver). Sorry about the confusion; I changed the term later and
thought I cauht all of the former writing. I'll write that up as a
correction.
For example, Jeet Kune Do (CHAMPS version) has 25 Associated
Maneuvers, each giving the Style 2 points, for a total of 50 Style Points. The
50 Style points were spent on the Style's Tags, in this case the Tag ability of
a character who learns the fighting art to chose a single or double-technique to
have a reduction in cost.
2) Could you perhaps provide an example of style creation? You
made an example for everything else, but not style creation.
That's a great idea. I do not have time right now, but I will
get on it tonight, tomorrow at latest. I'll even post it on the site, along with
the other correction in terms.
I'll also be looking at your Maneuvers then and I'll get back to you
on the math.
Glad you're enjoying the system. It was a lot of work!

stunts varied depending on what you wanted to do

I had a nifty idea last night. Everyone is, by now, familiar with United
Enforcement, the evil megacorp created for the sole purpose of pissing my
players off.
Well, I think UE would make a great sourcebook. There's a lot of Street
Fighters they use, and the hardware available to them is great for a sci-fi
feel to the campaign. And all those cyborgs and hybrids had to come from
somewhere, right?
Thing is, I'm stuck for a title. So since we came up with some great ones
for the "contenders" thingy I'd like you guys to throw some cool ones my way
for the 'net book.
Some I'm considering include:
Corporate Warfare
United We Stand
For Love of Money
Wall Street Fighter (okay, this one's too lame)
kthxbye.
