Sorry about that one. I've been playing so long with the +2 Spped after Block I thought it was one of my house rules to answer those mysteries that WW put in the game. Come to find out I was following the rules after all. Heh.

I am not sure this poll is necessary...

Look at the main book, page 115: "Unless otherwise
stated, the fighter still gets his +2 Speed bonus for
blocking the turn after executing any Block, even a
Block special move."

That would seem to answer your question :)

Hi J. Scott Pittman, I think that online SF books a great idea.
I have about 80% of the book Secrets of Shadaloo in .doc format done.

Should I send it to you when it's done?

Some of you have complained about the lack of the art from the books.
So I suggest that it's done in HTML format. The text and pics can be

To some degree i diagree i think doing the books
word for wors would be a bad idea. but makeing the
rules avalable wouldent be such a bad idea. I however
thing that tiger has put to much faith in Capcom and
whitewolfs care that this game ever existed.

[Tiger]
It isn't a matter of "care" per se. WW overextended their product line and
ended up almost bankrupting themselves. The SF products were dropped not
because they didn't want to publish the game, but because AT THE TIME they
didn't see a future for it. There's no point renewing a license for
something that'll go stale.

Notice how the majority of SF supplemental stuff - both fan and "official" -
are munchkin maneuvers, with the "official" maneuvers in the supliments most
likely written by twits who never even played the game?

Now, I personally see how SF could be turned into a game with umpteen
supliments for it, but at the time the book was written and produced, SF was
mostly the same stuff over and over again. I agree that WW could care more
about the game, but one also has to understand that each staff member there
usually has about 5 things on the go at any one time.

(Cliff Rice)
Even when
they were makeing the books (whats it up to 5 source
books) they dident do it at the insane base they did
their other titles hell i tnink one year they came out
with 21 vampire books and in 2 tears they could only
come out with 5 streetfighter books. Quite frankly i
nont think they give a damn.

[Tiger]
The difference is that they had freelancers do the majority of that work (I
still cringe at the late Nigel Findley's Vancouver sourcebook) while they
had interns cut their teeth on the SF books... the ol' weenie maneuNer.
ehehhehehe.

Also don't forget that the SF stuff was for an almost fringe market, and
they didn't spend the time or money they should have to put the right polish
and marketing it deserved.

But yeah, I don't think they really care all that much about SF, and they
certainly do seem to be distancing themselves from their customer base. I
personally would love to do my own Streetfighter books... if only I had the
time. =)

Group: streetfighter Message: 9022 From: Yasuharu Konishi Date: 9/11/2000
Subject: New [Xtreme] Tournament!
So far, I have three interested Players for the Xtreme
Fighting Championship Tournament: Karan, Robert, and
Rinaldo. I know everybody is excited about ages (I am
too!) but we need some more XFC players too.

First, I have a couple of changes to make. * There are
fewer restrictions on character design now... (see
below) Also, I just realized the main NPC was Rank 1
in a Rank 2 tournament... not very challenging an
adversary! ** I will announce a new "Tournament Host"
on a future post, and the story may change slightly,
but the basic idea is the same: Mixed Martial Arts
action for up-and-coming StreetFighters, with (of
course) a sinister plot somewhere behind the scenes...

It will still be a Rank 2 Tournament for 8 or 16
fighters. * You can submit a Rank 2 character you have
already played, but please let me know how many
experience points you have spent. ** You may also make
a new Rank Two character... just use the normal
character creation rules, but add 15 Experience Points
after you are finished, and add 1 point of either
Permanent Glory or Permanent Honor (your choice)

No Cyborgs, Animal Hybrids, or Elementals are allowed.
You may pick from any Style or Special Maneuver from
any official White Wolf book or supplement, with the
following exception: NO FOCUS MANEUVERS. * You may use
a Maneuver that has a Focus requirement, or which
costs Chi when used, but only if it is NOT a Focus
Maneuver (Example: Flaming Dragon Punch) This is
merely for Story purposes. The NPCs are from an
ongoing Chronicle in which no Focus Maneuvers exist.
** If you have a pre-existing Character who has Focus
Maneuvers, you can still submit him as long as you do
NOT use your Focus Maneuvers in the Tournament itself.
In a Challenge Match, it's just for fun... use Acid
Breath for all I care!

I will need tactics for a 10-turn round. J. Scott
Pittman recently posted an excellent description of
the kind of tactics I'm talking about. The difference
here is that it's 10 turns instead of 20. * Both
Players will have the option of either changing their
tactics between rounds or sticking to their usual
routine. ** The Tournament will be Single Elimination,
but I will allow Challenges before and after the
Tournament itself. *** Challenges will NOT affect your
Win/Loss record.

Please send your submissions to robotomizer@...

By the way, has anyone noticed that you have to have Upper Tail Strike to learn Tail Sweep, but Tail Sweep (Athletics 1) has a lower requirement for Athletics than Upper Tail Strike (Athletics 3)? Wouldn't you think that if you had Upper Tail Strike you would have already met your Athletics 1 requirement? Strange.

Subject: Re: [streetfighter] Re: Online Street Fighter Books?
By the way, I still think that we should wait for WW to have a chance to answer. Those guys get a lot of mail. Let's try giving them  a week at least.
I have no personal problem with badgering them with mail, either, until they give us an answer. I think that a lot of mail with the same subject might grab their attention.

The following e-mail address is on the WW home page under "Site Suggestions", which I suppose is the closest thing on their site related to what we are asking. I would like everyone who reads this message to copy the letter that follows the address and send in the e-mail, exactly as-is, with the title "Street Fighter .doc files suggestion".

Gentlemen,

This e-mail is part of a petition and request. We are part of a large mailing list devoted to White Wolf products, particularly Street Fighter: The Role Playing Game, and we strive to meet the requirements set fourth by White Wolf to have proper web-pages out of respect to White Wolf's property rights and respect to it's individuals.
The Street Fighter books all have the clause that states: "... contents within are copyright 1994 by White Wolf, Inc., All rights reserved. Reproduction without the written permission of the publisher is expressly forbidden..."
What we would like is written permission to create a reproduction of the written material in the Street Fighter books, as close as possible to as produced by White Wolf, including all credits and acknowledgments, including those to Capcom, of course. For obvious legal reasons, we have agreed that no artwork will be included, except for, possibly, the Street Fighter logo presented in the original book. No additional material will be entered into the books except a ".doc files compiled by" section where we will give credit to those that helped create the .doc files., and a link to the White Wolf home page. The .doc files will then be placed on an offical web-site where they can be downloaded for free by those wishing to have them. White Wolf is welcome to place ads and links on that web site for free, of course!
While we realize that such a reproduction includes many of the Storyteller rules, the Street Fighter game system does not allow one to be able to play Vampire or other Storyteller games without those rule books (many of the basic system rules, such as Techniques (which differ from Combat) and Health are vastly different than those presented in other White Wolf products.

CHAMPS is coming together GREAT! I have finished breaking down every single Street Fighter maneuver according to a point-based system, and so far about 75-80% of those Maneuvers worked out perfectly, or with only a point of diffrence in Power Points. Of course, most of the maneuvers from the Player's Guide and a few from the other books were either way too powerful or weak, and I will be correcting them over the next few days.
That does not mean that my corrections are set in stone - CHAMPS will explain how Maneuver designers can make thier own versions of corrected maneuvers as well. The cool thing about CHAMPS will the the fact that we can all make balanced Maneuvers and diffrent types of those Maneuvers. For example, someone could make up Head Lock: John Smith Version, while I could make up Head Lock: Dogs of War version, and both would still be legal under the CHAMPS system. I think this makes lots of sense, as there are about 100 diffrent versions of every type of Maneuver you can think of in real life.

We do not currently have a license to print further Streetfighter
material, and therefore are not legally empowered to grant anyone
permission to do so either. We still own the copyright to the game
itself, but the rights to print under the Streetfighter trademark have
expired.

My gaming club would like permission to reprint the Street Fighter rules under a diffrent name, so we won't be breaking any trademark laws. Since those rules are very diffrent and would not allow someone with a .doc file to play another White Wolf game, it could only spark interest in other White Wolf products. We would set up an offical page of some type that White Wolf could approve, and would, of course, give full credit to WW for the creation of those rules.  The new game would be titled "Video Fighters" or something along that line. All new characters and artwork would be added by members of the club.  Many people would just go ahead and do this without permission, but again, we respect the copyrights of White Wolf and the hard work of it's members, and would like to have an "officialy approved" page. A link to the WW homepage and a big space for an ad for current WW products would be fine with us!  We would be glad to send in the final draft for your approval, and will include whatever credits you wish if you do not think the ones included in the game are fitting. We would include NONE of the rules from any of your past, current, or future products except those inthe Street Fighter game (minus, of course, anything Street Fighter related) and rules of our own creation, approved by White Wolf if you so wish. J. Scott Pittman, speaking for most of 120+ White Wolf fans.

No, you do not have permission.
I tried to word it as simply as possible before, but apparently not simply enough.
We cannot give permission for that to be done. Derivative work still falls under copyrights.

so if we all really respect them that much, just accept their no with grace
and let's move on. I mean, it's true that you can find almost everything
you'd need right here on the web, and that compiling it would make it easier,
but it's better to post style lists and maneuver compendiums as "Storyteller
Aides" "compiling newer maneuvers into the old lists for ease of play" and
avoid any unpleasantness. I suppose a character creation guide like the one
I typed for myself would be another invaluable aid for the players without a
rulebook, while it it does for me is reprint the character creation summary
listed in the main rule book. With those three items available anyone could
play the game and any rules clarifications could be explained here. So
basically, two of the three things you need are already widely available, and
the third one I simply far two lazy to search for the floppy it's on. Oh
also a character sheet listing skills, which is especially easy since posting
"new" character sheets which add the newer skills and talents is probably the
download white wolf would find least offensive. Basically, we can't reprint
the book so let's concentrate on what people need to play but are missing and
help those people out with specific rules or sections.

I try to use Windows as little as possible. Kind of have to for game
though...everything else I can find on other platforms.

I haven't had any responses to Zethar;s challenge...
Anyone still up for it? Zethar needs to warm-up for the big
tournament.

When does the big Ages Tournament begin?

sure in the sunday, saturday I will release the matches and sunday I will
run them, of course if I make any mistake, I always fix the things ( at last
I try).

Sha Long smiled after the victory of Rebellion. He was indeed a worthy opponent.

"How do they say, 'Two out of Three'"? With that, Sha Long took a deep bow, rising to face Rebellion, head slightly back and legs arched foward and slightly bent. Those who watched could not shake off the uncanny resemblance to a cobra or other serpent rising to attack.

Rebellion recalls their first fight, and how close it was. Indeed, there was
some question as to who had actually won. She grins to herself. Far be it
from her to not at least try to answer the question.

"That would be good. I'm ready to begin when you are." *bows and assumes a
unorthodox Special Forces stance* She frowns when she notices Sha Long's
stance. Some forms of Wu Shu were based on animals, but how had Sha been able
to study the monstrous snakes of the flash regions without dying of radiation?
Even assuming he's somehow immune, how did he stand against serpents as thick
around as a redwood tree? Clearly this opponent was far more formidable than
their last fight indicated. He must have been holding back his true power.

Her grin widens. This should be educational.

[[[Sorry about that last line, I've just started watching DBZ.]]]

I plan to release new products for Street Fighter: CHAMPS, with submissions from other people, like their designs for new Styles, Backgrounds, and Bonuses/Weaknesses ideas (which will be voted on)... stuff like that. Submitted Maneuvers will be awesome, too, especialy weapon Maneuvers.
