Thanks! Yes, I plan to do both. The first run is, of course, a test run to
see how well the book will do in the market. If it does well, I will move on
to the distribution stage by contacting my local distributor.
I plan to release source books, of course! The first will be a "powers"
book, filled with super-powers and a super-hero setting (each book will
consist of about half and half rules/setting). The game comes with
descriptions of the most common powers and how to handle them in such a new
kind of rules system, but I think a "powers" book would be handy to the
Director (the name for the "Storyteller" in EPICS). I would also like to
make a martial arts book (of course!) and a space and fantasy setting.
Adventure books would be great too, but those things are far ahead in the
future.
Hmmmm... I wonder if I could purchase the rights to use the Street Fighter
name as a Setting?

By the way, I know some of you guys are on other mailing lists and in other
clubs with role-players. Spread the word about the $10 character sketch +
game if you would be so kind. Word of mouth is the only way I'm getting this
out right now!

with power"
" If the mankind have winsdow..."
Description: The guardian use cloth and cloak around himself for this
reason
nobody can see his appearance, he appears always in levitation state
because he
fly quickly when he want and nobody see he walking...

Ages History: This are two passages from mails in the Ages "recruitment"
I never
write much about it the final is very clear in my mind but I can´t tell
it at
this moment.

the idea is simple the timeline isn´t a timeline all characters from any
age
because this a tournament of ambition wish. All persons have one desire
who want realize but don´t make it because or is impossible or much
dificult. See this things a strange creature called only Guardian
teletransport all fighters for a secret place what could be.... All
right a Island in South seas (All right I copy this one from Mortal
Kombat) there is many people but isn´t commom peole many types of
persons are there for example a Church priest with his bible a German
Officer from Second war, A punk with purple hair and some cables and
much plugs and all types of strange people ever seem before, this
tournament called Ages...

A much time ago a strange creature called Guardian travel the time and
space to bring at his hide island some persons of courage and worth to a
combat for the best thing of this world a full and without restrictions
wish. This creature don´t tell his intentions but only have the power of
time travel and teleport this isn´t a joke.
Ps: No weapons here and after all I don´t have a full rule for Hybrids
and Cyborgs rules because that I prefer let them out for this event,
Elementals are in the game.

kind of support books would you like to see besides a martial arts book?
Something you haven't seen before or that hasn't been done well?

Hello,

I will add it to my page tomorrow (For all the good that will do, I havent
updated my page in years, I just dont know what to put on it.)

As for Martial Arts stuff, I really love the way SF does it, except for one
thing...I hate hex maps.

As for what source books I would like to see, you already mentioned the one
I want, SUPER POWERS! :)

Hello,

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Me too! If and when EPICS releases a Martial Arts handbook, it will not use
a playing board.

one
I want, SUPER POWERS! :)

It seemed like the first obvious choice. The EPICS basic rulebook comes with
a bunch of super-powers already, but the Powers book would list tons of
them, with optional rules, etc.

Hello guys -

First of all, I have a request to all of you that have web-pages. On my
EPICS page I now have a banner that can be added to web-pages. You will
find
it at the bottom of the page. I would like to request all of you to add
it
to your web-pages if you like. I would really appreciate it.

Second, since this is a martial-arts game list, how many of you would be
interested more in EPICS if a Martial-Arts sourcebook was avalible? What
kind of support books would you like to see besides a martial arts book?
Something you haven't seen before or that hasn't been done well?

Just make it a reasonable martial arts thing like Gurps or MAYBE ninjas and
superspies (although they don't do some forms justice and give too much
credit to others), Even though I'm sure we all like street fighter, I would
ignore it completely, they basically screwed up every martial art in the
game. . . .

Subject: Ages Database
Just a reminder...

The Ages Database is working, but it only has 4
entries in it. Please, if you are in Rinaldo's Ages
Tourney, input your character. I did this mainly as a
resource for everyone so they can see at a glance who
(or what) they're dealing with in the upcoming
matches.

The entries on it are:

Character Name (for obvious reasons)

Style (so we sort of know what to expect in the
matches)

Time Period (since the fighters in the Ages Tourney
are from all over time, fighting for their heart's
desire)

Their "Manager" (i.e. who's playing them, also
includes personal e-mail)

Concept (who and what they are)

If this works, perhaps a similar Idea can be used to
run a "World Tournament" (aka the World Circuit from
the Contenders book), where we pit fighters in a never
ending struggle to see which one is the best. Just an
idea.

Please. If you're in the Ages Tourament, and you
haven't filled out the d-base, please do so. It would
help.

Josh

Oh, I was thinking that when i do one it will be with 2 seperate sections,
something like "the martail arts" and then another section called
"super-martial arts", where characters have all kinds of crazy powers and
such. I think that would better satisfy both types of gamers.

That's a good idea! Ideally they'd be 2 separate
books, but duplication ain't free :)

I checked out your SF page, BTW, and I really liked
the "Maneuver Builder" thing. You should *definitely*
have a system for inventing your own maneuvers in
EPICS.

There's a second version of the CHAMPS system on the way, one that will be
much better I think. It comes much closer to the costs in the original game,
but is a little more complex.

Epics Martial Arts would definatly have a Maneuver Builder Chart.

How will a 24-way tournament work? That would make 12
preliminary matches, 6 quarterfinals, 3 semifinals...
then you have 3 fighters left. How will you decide who
fights the Bad Guy?

On the other hand, you've got 16 fighters already...

Random select the old system I pick up many litle papers write the names of fighters in them and put it all inside a jar, after this one by one I remove name for name and see who fight against who in a
eliminatory combat who wins go ahead.

No, probably not. Ages has the rank 9 fighters, doesn't it? In any event,
the rank for the Duelist Tournament will most likely be 4 or 5, and only
modern characters are able to join, in case Zethar comes from some other
time frame. So it's pretty unlikely.

Okay, here's the move list I've been working on for
Wing Chun Kung Fu... If any of you are well-versed in
Wing Chun I welcome your critique :)

Special Maneuvers:
Elbow Smash 1, Headbutt 1, Hundred Hand Slap 5, Knife
Hand Strike 3, Monkey Grab Punch 1, Triple Strike 1,
Double Hit Kick 1, Footsweep 1, Lightning Leg 4,
Stepping Front Kick 3, Deflecting Punch 1, Maka Wara
4, San He 3, Brain Cracker 1, Dislocate 3, Eye Rake 1,
Grappling Defense 4, Wrist Lock Slam ?, Groundfighting
3, Jumping Shoulder Butt 1, Zen No Mind 3

New Maneuver:
(Please help me assign a power point cost for this)

Wrist Lock Slam.
PP Cost: W(ing)C(hun)? WR? JJ? JK? KF? AI? etc?
Requires Grab 3, Athletics 1.
The fighter grabs an opponent's wrist, wrenching the
arm painfully. Then, with the victim immobilized with
pain, the Wing Chun artist extends the opponent's arm
and twists it overhead while pivoting, sending the
victim head over heels onto the ground.
System: On the first turn, treat as a sustained hold
using the first damage modifier. If the hold is not
broken or released, use the second damage modifier on
the second turn and if damage is scored, the victim
suffers a knockdown. In any case, the hold is broken
at the end of the second turn. Speed +0, Damage +0/+2,
Move 1, no chi/wil cost.

I do believe club stats are in the street fighter guide. As for Wing Chun,
it would be a crappy street fighter style, no focus, the only real moves
they get are deflecting punch and Rekka Ken. I mean they get other moves,
but they're all covered by basic moves. You're better off just using Kung Fu.

Wing Chun shouldn't get the lighting leg, or even the double hit kick, The

use Kung Fu??

Hey guys

Sorry Ive been away so long but I just got back from spending a
week in vancouver at the CanAm martial arts tournament.

What an Amazing week. Got to see tonnes of styles and mixs of martial arts.

Divisions for karate, Judo, Sanshou, Wushu and later there were even demos
from the chinese master. The eagle claw Sifu was amazing.
Much more fluid than what you see in movies and the tai chi was just as
amazing. Fluid and powerful. Whoever says tai chi is just an exercise has
never seen its hard aspects.

And Vancouver itself was Amazing! I can sen why white wolf made
"rage across vancouver" One of there site books for Werewolf.

Not true. You have to realize that the tip of the weapon is going to move
faster than the hand. That of course varies on the weight of the sword and
tai chi swords are very light. Im not agreeing with the stats just not
agreeing with your logic.

Erggghhh....Ahhh that weapon does to much damage for a Chinese broadsword
and to little speed.
Im guessing your wife did broadsword as her short weapon when she did Wushu.
So her long weapon was probably Staff, right?

I was thinking about it. I think the idea was simply that a knife should be
a threat against a person with no weapons. Rapier I can sort of understand.
Katana....probably because there more even and lighter than western weapons.
The japanese art of folding really is unique.
I dont think chinese weapons hold much to it.

Heh... Id make them lose glory or gain.. depending on if people were
watching and who. Actually if the concept of a character is an hnourable
fighter just like Ryu and he doenst hit his opponent while dizzy(outside of
a match) I would give them an experiance point for playing in character.
