I would say no on movement being an abort, the movement is too much on it,
I can see Jump and Block, because they don't move very much, but for the
same reason Tony gave with backflip, it moves you out of the way too much,
plus it is a basic maneuver so I see no reason to give it the special
benefit of being an abort maneuver. . . . .

nope. Contenders states that the player cannot create a character "now
studying Jeet Kune Do after many years of Muay Thai", and if a player wishes
to switch styles to JKD later on there must be a valid, plot-driven reason
for doing so.

By the rules, Move is not an Abort maneuver.

Therefore, I don't currently allow players to abort to a Move. This
forces them to buy Jump to have a "throw yourself out of harm's way"
move. If I did allow an abort to Move, I'd restrict movement to hexes
equal to Athletics (so it's not more than Jump).

Yes, providing that I can find it in a realatively short time (My e-mail

Either tonight, or early morning at the latest. I'm working at it while
doing the stuff I usually should be doing, so I'm lagging farther behind
then I anticipated but it WILL be done either tonight or early morning. I"ll
add it to the vault then send a mail to the group to let everyone know.
There won't be a .txt version though, so if you want that you'll have to
wait for Chris to fix that up (thanks a ton for doing that, man).

I was in the middle of nothing (my fighter in a fantasy STF campaing with
european characters so we can use only europe style I mean Wrestiling, Savate,
the Scotish Highlander style and some other styles gee I can´t remember now but
this isn´t matter).
Here the situation my fighter a savate guy try to knockout a guy but he discover
a important fact the guy is a zombie, all right many punches and kicks but the
dammit corpse don´t fall (I make him reach the 20 wound boxes) I only defeat him
after more 20 wound boxes the Gm just reply "he is dead Jim" and said back "this
I known bones" but the question a undead opponent suffer less damage than a live
opponent? This curious but I don´t want fight with a zombie again after this
one.
Another point if my fighter wear a special suit made with isolant components
this can make a manuver like shock treatment useless?
About Star Trek I´m not a trekkie but I love the serie someone try to convert
James T.Kirk to STF system and of course Spock too (I realy want known a version

I think that's a great idea and the simplicity is perfect for street fighter.
Since one of my PC's is playing a Blind Fighter I've had him roll some
elaborate things just to determine if he trips etc (I typed up 3 pages of
blindfighting rules only b/c he's a PC) but at this point I may just switch
to the 11-blind fighting instead. He was just about to buy telepathy anyway
& was was going to let him read his teammates thoughts "Pit-look out!" or
"He's behind you!" Things like that. Then I was going to mess with him by
having him fight alone against a guy with high willpower & ear pop. What can
I say, I'm just cruel. Anyway, for NPC's the 11-Blind Fighting seems
perfectly good for me.

In Call of Cthulhu, zombies take no damage. Instead you take the damage you
do, multiply it by four and that is the percentile chance of destroying a
zombie. If these were honest to goodness dead zombies (as opposed to the ones
you find in Resident Evil), that's how I'd handle it. Resident Evil zombies
get high stamina and health levels.

I don't think the damage modifier of the maneuver should be included in that
limitation. A dragon punch will always hit harder than a jab in the same
place.

And with an eight you'd need a three... I don't think I like that...

Close, but no banana.

SKELETONS (at least, in 5th edition they did) had a chance based on
damage dealt to just splinter, destroying them. Zombies, on the other
hand, had regular health levels, but any impaling weapon (including but
not limited to swords, knives, bullets, etc) did a mere 1 point of
damage.

I would say that Zombies would indeed be ridiculously resistant to
bludgeoning damage in Street Fighter since it doesn't hamper them in
ways it would hamper regular humans: IE, they don't feel pain, a broken
bone won't keep them from using that limb, etc. But I don't think they
should be able to be effective Street Fighters except under rare
circumstances (Revenants, for example).

In Call of Cthulhu, zombies take no damage. Instead you take the damage
you
do, multiply it by four and that is the percentile chance of destroying
a
zombie. If these were honest to goodness dead zombies (as opposed to
the ones
you find in Resident Evil), that's how I'd handle it. Resident Evil
zombies
get high stamina and health levels.

Yeah, true.
I made up stats for Ayako Yuki the other day (founder of one of the styles I made), and she was topping 500 points. Yet, she seemed nowhere near as powerful as the World Warriors. I was thinking they must at least be 700-1000 XP characters.

Master Kanzaki (my current character in his future incarnation, it's

The two I've got my money on are Vega and Chun Li, both for that obscene

I think Bison's biggest strength is actually Psychic Vise; the fact that
you use Intelligence to soak means that most fighter won't be able to
soak it very well (face it, who pumps up their mental stats in lieu of
their physical except Kabaddi stylists?)

So you're kinda screwed. If you only have high physicals, Bison's
psychic abilities will stun you so he can belt you with his heavy
hitters. If you only have high mental attributes, you're meat to his
blows anyway.

The *only* chance I see a regular player having is if Bison fails to
Psychic Vise you early in the fight. That move appears to really be the
cornerstone of his assault (other than those twenty-die basic attacks,
that is). Best thing for Bison to do is to engage in pre-fight
Intimidation (as a lot of PCs like to do, at least mine do) and use
Psychic Vise as his Intimidation move.

Of course, since Bison often cheats and stacks battles in his favor from
outside sources, I don't see him ever losing. ;) Of course, that's all
speculation of course...

I just meant that the number of successes you get with This roll is the Maximum number of dice you can roll When you roll for damage. It's not your actual damage roll, and you don't get extra damage dice if you wouldn't have rolled that many dice for damage anyway. It reflects the fact that it's hard to apply a technique to an opponent who could be anywhere, in any position, for all you know...

>>> You can only attack an opponent who has just attacked you, or who is in the same hex as you are.
>
>No wild shot attacks that might hit by chance at a distance? What if someone was closer to you, and making a lot of noise, like firing a automatic weapon? You can't attack them?

I actually hadn't thought it through... what I guess I should have said was that if you are blinded or fighting in Darkness, you only know the location of characters in your hex or those who are attacking from an adjacent hex. You're right. what I said doesn't make sense. I never had any Blindfighting in my games until I introduced the Eye Rake, and it's still rare...

What I do is cover the hexmap when the lights go out, or make the player face away from the table if he has been blinded... If you can REMEMBER where an opponent is, you can go with that... until he moves, then you're Fighting Blind.

Sure, you could take a wild shot. I would have the player announce a target hex (or a direction of attack for hex-line based attacks) and then pay whatever costs apply. If an opponent (or teammate) happens to be in that target hex or in that hex-line, roll damage, with dice rolled limited by your Blindfighting roll (above). Certain moves like Spinning Footsweep and Yoga Flame are good for taking wild shots... although wouldn't a Yoga Flame illuminate the fighting area breifly?

>>> Finally, you can't abort while blinded.
>
>What about masters of the martial arts who have a ratibng of 5 in blindfighting? They cant abort to block?

I dunno... that would mean they began a certain maneuver (blind), then reacted to their unseen opponent's action and Blocked it (blind) at the last moment... stroryteller's call, I guess.

Maybe a better rule would be you can't abort to Block while blinded unless you have Blindfighting... or maybe it costs 2 instead of 1 Will?

This is a very tricky subject. The description of Blocks in Chapter 8 (Combat) says "Finally, Block can be played as an Abort Maneuver (explained later...)" Given the context, I tend to believe this was in reference to the Basic Block, although it could very easily be interpreted as meaning Blocks in general...

But nevermind that! In the SYSTEM descriptions of Kick Defense and Punch Defense, they both say it works just like a Block with the difference being the Punch/Kick related modifiers. Block is an Abort Maneuver, so if Punch/Kick Defense work like Block I think they must be Abort maneuvers too, just like they would both protect you from a Knockdown. But opinions vary!

Really? I thought the objective of a Kidney Punch was to make your opponent piss blood!

Clinching is a good idea, but I don't think it's necessary... If you caught someone in a Brain Cracker and sustained the hold for the following turn, they are unable to act on the following turn, right? When it's time to roll damage, you can say "No, I'm just clinching him, no damage."
Your opponent would still be unable to act.

I have a Boxer with a Block to Brain Cracker, who also has Brain Cracker to Rekka Ken Fierce (Dizzy of course!) When he clinches you, you're history! I think with Brain Cracker available, why just clinch? The moves you listed for use with Clinch were right on the money, but I think they'd work best in a Combo like the one above.

Other good moves for "dirty" boxing: Elbow Smash and Suplex! And if you saw Riddick VS Bowe a few years back, you've seen how effective a Low Blow can be!

Maybe it should be something like Heart Punch (does high damage only
calculated for KO not for actual damage).
But, I think a move to KO someone more quickly would simply be
unbalancing to the game (isn't that what regular damage in the game
does?).
For what your suggesting, I'd just use the stats for Heart Punch and
modify the description a bit (damage counts for dizzying purposes).

I'm pretty neutral on San He (although I voted that all blocks could be
aborts), but Energy Reflection definitely needs to be an abort. It's like
one of those times somebody tosses you a basketball, and you stop what
you're doing to catch it. (Although if you still think that wouldn't be
right, I might suggest having a roll to see if you can think fast enough
to abort to it.)
Being unable to abort to a reflection, I'd say their cost wouldn't match
their value. The only Block maneuver I'd possibly consider exluding from
the Block list would be Deflecting Punch (abort to an attack?).

Drunken Monkey Roll is kind of ambiguous as it says (use the same rules
for evading as under Jump), but I don't think it would unbalancing to
abort to (still have to make the opposing roll and it's not an attack).

As I understand it from the rules in the books when knockdown occurs you either lose your action for that turn or if you've already gone you get a -2 to your speed next turn. If of course you have kippup that's only a -1 the next turn. I think that if you haven't gone yet that round losing your action is okay. But it seems to me that if you fall into the bracket of having to get up the next round i.e. the -2 penalty that instead you should actually forefit your action and people with kippup should get a -2 penalty instead. I don't know it just seems that knockdown would be a little more used, and feared if the penalty were more severe.

with his stamina of a 7 and his HP all the way up, basically if you screw
up, you're dead, he did like 9 points of damage to someone with one move.
Plus a lot of his moves are sustained holds, with a strength of 7, grab of
7 also I think, even if you have grappling defense, you're screwed. Also,
Zangief has the head bite, which tells me he's a little unstable, if you
piss him off enough (i.e. not letting him hit you back), he might just hit
you while you're dizzy. . . . . .

The More human Jaw Punch: The description is the same a cross aiming the

Speed: +1 Damage: +0 Movement: None Cost 1 will
Special Effect: 2 sucess in damage make a opponent stun.

About kidneys punch when I said "breath" I realy mean the a well placed
punch in vital organs all right the guy will have difficult to breath
after this hit and split some blood too the idea is when you hit a
opponent with Kidneys punch he lost a 1 level of stamina for 2 turns
after this time the guy recover the normal stamina.

About clinching I known it appears useless but think well for my concept
when you clinch a opponent is like a susteinted hold but you can make
something while you clinch maybe use regeneration or leech but you can
note clinch is a faster manuver this can make a grab more easier of
course the user must be strong to keep his prey under
his holding.
