Subject: Adventure Hook Game: Entry 1# The Crooked Circuit
Hey guys,

I thought I would suggest a fun game for everyone to help spruce up
things here. What always bugs me in Street Fighter: The RPG is the
fact while the rules are awesome and the setting. It's occasionally
hard to come up with adventures. Therefore, for the next month, I
suggest a game where everyone posts their own entries of adventures
for Street Fighter and whoever gets the most positive comment replies
wins?

It'll be a fun chance to share your adventures I think

Adventure Hook Game: 1# The Crooked Circuit

DM comments: This is an adventure I ran as one of the early adventures
in my games and one I'm still very proud of.

One of the players has been given the chance of a lifetime to have a
fight with a World Warrior. The match isn't really something that the
World Warrior honestly expects to have much time dealing with but is
meant to be an exposition of their abilities. The player has
unfortunately largely been chosen because he's strong enough that when
they fight, the player won't get killed or be permanently hospitalized.

The player gets the fight ready then and basically.....well wins.

It's a fight where the basics of the World Warrior's fighting style
are used and the player does probably take some hits before finally
dispatching his opponent in an upset win that catches national
attention. Everyone loves an upset and the player is given the toast
and rank of a World Warrior. The World Warrior himself is deeply
shamed and wondering what exactly happened in his battle but doesn't
challenge the victory but instead desires to get a rematch (may change
depending on the content of the WW's character....Sagat for example
would probably smash up the players car at the least and want a
rematch the next day). The other World Warriors are deeply
unimpressed though because the battle was definitely not up to form.

What the players don't reckon in is Blink, a reasonably gifted
psychic that has the ability to astrally project his soul into the
minds of others. Blink, despite this amazing ability, isn't terribly
bright and has fallen in with one of the Illuminati's promoters in a
rather sleazy media executive (is there any other kind?). The
executive intends to bring Streetfighting into the mainstream despite
its dubious legality but knows that there's no way that he'll suceed
with the popularity of the Underground circuit. To that end Blink is
part of a campaign where he intends to humiliate the World Warrior's
reputation and sign up the victors to fight for him and thus pull away
a lot of the fighting audience. He suspects this won't work and is
fully willing or ruining the victor's lives to 'prove' Streetfighting
is as fake as televised wrestling to the world.

Aside from temptations on the player's greed, vanity, arrogance, and
whether this is honestly that wrong since only reputation is at stake
(the promoter isn't exactly a mover and shaker in the
Illuminati)....there's also the issue that Blink's abilities make him
far more useful than a crooked media outlet could possibly imagine.
Gill certainly believes that a man whom could make many World Warriors
simply walk onto train tracks or at the very least not fight is better
used in doing just that. He's thus dispatched some heavy hitters to
go fetch Blink and maybe slap around his underling for not informing
of this resource earlier.

Blink himself isn't evil. He's a selfish, egotistical, greedy little
twit but he the only reason he's going along with this is because he
thinks Street Fighting is moronic and not much harm will done by
breaking up the circuits. The fact is that his father was actually a
near World Warrior who passed his abilities onto his son but ended up
dying in a match.

So then basically, Gouki is still Akuma and Akuma is still Gouki, both
of them will continue to be evil with or without the dark hadou, which
means(in my interpretation) Gouki or Akuma was never cured in the first
place considering he will still continue to be evil

If anybody is interested, I'm doing an RPG on my xena/street fighter
weekly series RPG group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xena-streetfighter-weekly-rpg-series/ . I
need somebody to play Ryu and Ken in order to start the RPG game. I need
somebody who knows Ryu's story line and background in order for them to
play the part of Ryu and Ken. There is a file in the file section which
explains the story line that will be used in the RPG(which took off from
my xena/street fighter fanfic story, which is the essence of the story
line which explains the feud between Akuma and a secret character that
never made it to the actual street fighter game a while back). I plan on
starting the RPG game in the group this week if I can find somebody who
can play Ryu and Ken(and the rest of the other characters in the near
future if possible). If anybody can play the characters, your more than
welcome to join, if you have any questions please e-mail me privately

I take it as more that he's no longer the juggernaut of darkness that
he used to be and is now just the "Diet Coke" of evil, or at the very
least he's now just straight cola rather than "Jolt."

Then again I'm of the mind they never had Akuma's backstory really
well written.

My version still has him as Dan's father than was killed by Saggat.
Then Akuma rises from the grave and embraces the Dark Hadou (or
perhaps on his death kneels!)

Forgive me if I'm posting too much...

I like to insert the World Warriors in my game. However, I don't
insert them primarily for "defeat in huge battle" but instead insert
them for their character traits. Its interesting to come up with
'depth' for characters that may not necessarily have the greatest
collection of depth in the world to begin with. Sometimes, its also
interesting to extrapolate character traits that are only alluded at
as well.

In our campaign (starring a ninja, a blind Shotokan karate master, a
Batman style vigilante, and an American Dervish---sort of a pun on
American Ninja), we have some pretty frequent guest stars. Ryu,
Sakura, Rose, Ken, and Chun Li pretty much are expected parts of the
story with the occasional government contact from Cammy and Guile.
Due to the fact players actually want to hold a conversation with a
WW, I had to scribe out fairly detailed personalities from studying
their history.

I thought presenting them and asking for people's own versions would
be appreciated here. Let me start with Ryu, whose version is pretty
different yet based on the existing one.

Ryu

My assumption of Ryu's backstory is actually that the "lack of" might
actually be a lot more telling than the presentation of it. Unlike
Ken whom seems to have a family and always have been more 'grounded'
than Ryu, Ryu seems essentially to exist in the martial arts. It
occurs to me that instead of just assuming he had a normal past, there
might be a person for that. In my assumption, Ryu is probably an
orphan and was more or less raised by his master to be the inheritor
of the style that he was taught. Ryu's vocation from birth has thus
been to master his style.

I'll spare you non-canon things from my games like Ryu's father and
the confrontation of Ryu that he was wasting his life by the players.
Suffice to say Ryu's closest relationship is with Ken since that was
when someone from the outside world intruded on the cultivated world
of his home and gave him a glimpse of the outside world. Ken could
never be as dedicated as Ryu due to the fact that he wasn't able to
live, breathe, and eat the martial arts the way that he was. The fact
that Ryu doesn't even have a last name is terribly telling.

But while this is all terribly telling, I made a fun play on the Dark
Hadou in the fact that Ryu isn't nearly the nice guy that man mistake
him to be. Don't confuse Ryu's stoicism for serenity. In truth, a
part of Ryu resents his master and the relentless demands that he and
later Ryu himself put on him to master the impossible and infinite
slope of becoming the greatest at the martial arts. Part of his
refusal to teach Sakura wasn't just Ryu's humility but a buried fact
that he couldn't impose the rigorous and demanding lifestyle that he
suffers on someone else. There is no 'corrupting aspect' to the Dark
Hadou, instead it is a reflection that there is a great deal of anger
buried down deep in Ryu's feelings. Though Ryu is a practing Zen
Buddhist, he doesn't really achieve harmony with his feelings.

It is why Ken doesn't have it and Akuma did. Ken has learned to
enjoy his life which doesn't taint his ki.

Part of M. Bison's torment to Ryu and the way he was able to dominate
him was the fact that he also removed the burden of a rather fruitless
existence from his mind. Ryu would obey and serve to indulge in the
joys of fighting rather than simply fighting for improvement alone.
It's sort of like cracking a flood gate and it was not coincidental
that Ken and Sagat, a man whom recognized himself the pointlessness of
battle for its own sake that broke the hold on him.

In our story, Ryu eventually must recognize the futility of mastering
the martial arts for their own sake....that only leads to wrath and
hatred. Only when he accepts that they are meant to be used to help
people and taught for that purpose will he be able to find inner peace
and become instead a great champion for good and justice.

Young, nubile, and genki. That said, she does have a common
link in her style to Ryu, as she created her own custom
style based on Ryu's. I think at the end of Street Fighter
EX3 it is clear that she and Ryu are going to tie the knot.

That's funny(laughing), according to the pictures on the internet, Ryu
and Chun Li were supposed to "Tie the knot." Notice all the kissing and
hugging that Ryu and Chun Li have been doing.

As Gouki said in Street Fighter Alpha Generations, "Do your

path of a true fighter." (love and peace)-Ryu's path

true one, check out the files section of my group

the true story of how Akuma came about. Its rather interesting on how

Subject: Villainous Groups of StreetFighter world
I thought I'd get an idea of the scope and power of all the various
groups in the STW and maybe get an evaluation to how people saw my
interpretation.

Shadoloo can't be the villain EVERY game after all.

Shadow Law

Shadow Law is basically COBRA (from GI Joe) from what I'm depicting it
as. It's not a crime syndicate so much as it is a terrorist
organization and a group devoted to world conquest. M. Bison leads it
from his country off of Indonesia (because there's so few islands
settled there, I can actually make it seem fairly legitimate and an
island chain rather than just an island). As in the scope of the game
Shadow Law is primarily interested in weapons, drugs, mercenaries, and
a fair amount of legitimate enterprise that is at the height of the
technologies game. It also engages in kidnapping, large scale
bribery, and probably smuggling enterprises of a certain amount. Its
likely that they have influence through their arms sales and
mercenaries over numerous bannana Republics and petty dictatorships in
disadvantaged parts of the world. Indeed, in Streetfighter they
probably actually control these regions.

Shadow Law's operations exist less to strengthen their activities
though than fund Bison's plots for world domination. The Psycho
Drive, cloning experiments, cybernetics, and probably things like
Blofeld creates are the main focus and probably inhibit their actual
legitimate growth while making a constant need to expand for the
latest scheme.

Fate: Shadow Law is destroyed by Balrog's incompetence after Bison
perishes.

The Illuminati

Do we really need to cover this one? In the Streetfighter Universe,
I'm inclined to think that with a leader like Gill that there's a
slightly different scope to the organization than the traditional
power brokers that we normally see. The organization seems as focused
as Bison in acquiring super fighters but for the purposes of my game I
think that the Illuminti will actually be primarily about power
brokering through normal means of corporate intrigue as well as
government favor trading. The G-project I'm also going to relate to
Killer Instinct's Ultratech corporation. Not as aggressive and
considerably more patient than Shadow Law, they find that the
organization is a threat to their plans by their refusal to play by
the rules.

It occurs to me that with his strange powers and mysticism that Bison
being a former member of the Illuminati might be appropriate, sort of
like Skeletor and Hordak to utterly betray my geekiness.

Fate: Probably still kicking.

Mad Gear

Mad Gear I'm tending to think of as a multi-country (based in Japan)
and sort of a strange international gang culture more than anything
else. Mad Gear is unrelated to traditional Japanese Yakuza (who'd be
related to the Red and Black Dragons in this world). Mad Gear
primarily bases its efforts abroad and especially focuses its efforts
in America, Hong Kong, England, Holland and France with an eye to
expanding into the former Soviet Union. Mad Gear isn't particularly
interested in world domination and instead devotes itself to simply
increasing the scope of their crimminal activities and the money they
gain from them. The gang does attempt to enforce some solidarity and
limited 'ideals' but this is largely bogus and mainly designed to get
around the racial lines that dominate many street gangs.

Mad Gear has sort of the odd feel of the movie "The Warriors" if the
original plan to unite all of New York's gangs to overthrow the cops
had suceeded....and it has in many cities.

Fate: Destroyed by Mike Hagar

Red Dragon/Black Dragon

A Mortal Kombat import, the Red Dragons are sort of the catch all for
traditional Japanese crimminals and take all of the stereotypes
Westerners have about them like fanatical loyalty and weird senses of
honor that nevertheless allow them to be crimminals. They are pretty
much restricted to Japan for their crimminal activities and have no
desire to expand outside of it while the Black Dragon most certainly
do. The Black Dragons don't necessarily wield much influence outside
Japan yet but have a sizeable chunk of the Red Dragons old territory.
Their code is basically not to have one.

In the context of the game, The Black Dragons may be allied with
Shadow Law for high technologies in exchange for a cut of their profits.

Fate: The Black Dragons eventually destroyed by the Red Dragons

[Most of these are from the Champions New Millenium
setting, with occasional changes to make them appropriate
for this genre.]

Panstar: A multinational corporation devoted to refining
technology of all kinds. They produce acceptable quality
knockoff versions of just about any type of consumer
product. Panstar also will make "custom products" for those
who have the right coin, and doesn't really care about the
purposes to which their products will be put.
They also have acquired advanced Atlantean technology from
well-planned raids on archaeological sites and even were
able to loot a downed U.F.O. and flee before the U.S.
government arrived to "sanitize" the area.
Panstar also is a champion in the field of robotics, and
believes that it can build a fully mechanical army that
will replace all standard military outfits. In order to do
this Panstar has been sponsoring Street Fighters, asking
only that they wear small pads (sophisticated motion
capture systems) on certain joints during a fight. The pads
upload information concerning the Street Fighter's
maneuvers to the Panstar computer database. Much of the
data will not be usable (as Panstar is still not able to
digitally simulate magic and ki manipulation), but they
have been able to acquire a great deal from this
arrangement.

It is also probable that Panstar will anonymously send a
combat droid into the arena closer to their product launch
date to see how their prototype will fare.

Universal Coverage
A multinational health care company, Universal Coverage
offers a fair-priced insurance plan with health options to
those who can afford it. Their LifeSaver data management
software, which is powered by a simple Artifical
Intelligence, has made it possible for hospitals to
instantly find out what allergies an unconscious patient
has just with a routine ret-scan or DNA check.
LifeSaver is open to anyone with the right login and
password, so a stalker could track his target by having
LifeSaver check all the hospitals or other medical offices
for signs that the person has checked in.

Universal Coverage also has a few scientists that are on
the Shadowloo payroll. They have greatly contributed to the
pool of genetic information that was used to produce Cammy
White. As Street Fighters come to them for help, so does
the data pool of genetic information.

These scientists have secretly hired a mentalist to help
them control the board, which is so far unaware of what
their ultimate intentions are: Universal's intensive
mastery of genetic information will come into military use
when they use selective gene therapy to heighten the
reflexes and senses of certain individuals. Other plans for
this information include suppression of traits responsible
for individualistic thinking and heightening of the
fight/flight response of what is termed the reptilian
brain.

Adventure Hook Game: Entry 2# Poisoned Soul

The players are assaulted fairly randomly by a Ler Drit fighting
warrior who looks sick as Hell but attacks like a demon. If the
characters defeats him, the man self immolates not soon afterwards.
Apparently, the strain of the battle was too much for the individual
to take. If the characters do any research into who the man was, the
players will find out that its one of their old opponents whom they
discover had an adverse reaction to the fight and ended up being
injured to be unable to fight again (the severity of the injuries are
capable of being determined by how careful the player is about not
injuring his opponents in battle).

What the players don't know is that the man turned to Psycho Power as
a means of restoring his body to full fighting power. The character
was never an M. Bison though or ever had the potential to be a World
Warrior but still devoted his entire life to fighting. This obsession
gave him the ability to harness the Psycho Power but it slowly ate
away at him from inside until he decided to come to kill the players
as his last act. Having failed in that, the Psycho Power utterly
consumed him. This sadly is only the beginning of the horror.

The players will start experiencing pretty much the stereotypical
signs of being haunted during this time. Bloody messages in mirrors,
things moving around, and terrible nightmares. Traditional means of
defeating ghosts will not work because shockingly enough the "Ghost"
is not really 'dead.' He's been consumed by the Psycho Energy and now
is feeding off the negative emotions in the world to grow stronger.
The ghost's own unjustified hatred for the players is giving him even
greater power as he focuses it. Eventually, he will start possessing
the weak willed to attack the players and soon start using his psycho
powers in their possessed (but innocent) bodies.

The power of 'Ghost' will grow to the point that the players will
find him manifesting Shadow Doubles of the players to do his bidding
and eventually manifesting his own constructed body with nearly the
power of a World Warrior at his beck and call. Defeating this shadowy
monster with conventional attacks will do no good because it is a mere
manifestation in the physical.

To destroy the Ghost, they will have to enter the Psycho Power
themselves through dreams or trance and face the hellish specter on
his own terms. If they can destroy it with their ki then they have
won a great battle against what was rapidly becoming a literal Demon
on Earth. One that if it had slain them would only go on to become
even stronger.

The Wisdom Alliance (ten points if you know where I stole the name from)

A loose coalition of espers, elementals, and focus based street fighters that
see themselves as the next evolution of humanity. They stay behind the scenes
as much as they can, manipulating corporations and governments to ensure the
survival of their nanacent race.

Sounds fairly benine? What makes them a villanous group is their utter
disregard for 'mundanes'. They don't go out of their way to kill, hurt, or
even inconvenience normal humanity (as a group, individuals tend to be
individuals), but they are willing to destroy entire cities to aid one esper.

Founded, and still based, in the former USSR by candidates for the government's
psychic research program. Many of these candidates are former members of the
Russian Army and so have combat and leadership training.

Despite it's recent problems, Russia is still far and away the world leader in
psychic research. Unfortunately, it's government is too infiltrated by The
Wisdom Alliance to ever pose a credible threat. Ironically enough, the
greatest threat to The Wisdom Alliance comes not from any world government, but
rather from various universities scattered around the globe that have
parapsychological research groups, many of whom are begining to get consistant
results. These universities also tend to have indepth martial art programs....

Subject: Adventure Hook Game: Entry 3# High School is Hell
The players find themselves in an unusual position. Interpol
believes that Shadow Law has been running a specialized private school
to train future operatives in the ways of crime and that they're going
to start brainwashing a new generation of horrors to unleash on the
world. The players are asked to go undercover as a group of
mercenaries at the school that will be hired as teachers (since the
real ones have all been apprehended).

Should be a walk in the park huh?

Well, the first problem is that no one mentioned that it's an
ALL-GIRLS school and the players who are likely predominantly male
suddenly find themselves surrounded by a large amount of attention
from the underage student body. Next of all, none of these girls
really seem to need training to become Shadoloo agents. They all
fairly openly carry weapons such as crossbows, maces, katanas,
explosives, and the occasional flame thrower to school for their own
private recreation. The first job of the players is to guarantee the
girl's safety and that is required of keeping THEM FROM KILLING EACH
OTHER. Also, they're ALL trained in the martial arts and some of them
are just below the players in abilities. Finally, the ciriculum is
coming up to finals and tensions are alreay really high. Given
they're all rich and influential individual's daughters (and
secondarily, they're innocent victims) the government will accept no
implications they're not sweet and demure little girls.

The Principle of the High School is known only as Principle X, a tiny
midget French Woman with an eye patch who bears a suspicious
resemblance to Rosa Klebber from "From Russia with Love." She
genuinely cares about the girl's best interests and bizarrely makes
allusions to the fact that she's M. Bison's mother and references to
dozens of wars that she couldn't have possibly been a participant in.
Janitor Will Michaelson who unfortunately owes Shadow Law money and
has been forced into the job to the point that he's literally quite
insane from his fear of the girls. Will is unrelated to Shadow Law
but fully intends to save his life by blowing up the school and trying
to off the students in a manner somewhat reminscent of Bill Murray's
character in Groundhog Day. Finally, the Music Teacher Mr. Largo is
one that is a direct serant of M. Bison and using the psycho power
through his cello to heighten the aggressive instincts of the
girls.....but they're pretty much just as aggressive without it sadly.
More can be added at will.

Sakura and Karin have been also added to the school's student body
and are meant to be the PC's aids but...well....the two are having the
time of their lives and are hoping the school will remain open so they
can transfer.

Quotes from the Game I ran:

Student to teacher after recieving a test in Darth Vader tones "You
have *failed* me for the last time!"

"Would you please accept this letter of my love teacher? If not, would
you please accept this box....ignore its ticking."

"The popular girls won't let me hang out with them. We'll see if they
have an opening when I CUT ONE'S HEAD OFF!"

"My science project is to replicate Alfred Nobel's glorious
achievement of nitroglycerine in stick form." *lights fuse* "and to
demonstrate I have placed the contents in Karin's car because she's a
rich b***."

"Hey, instead of Soccer can we play live ammo Counterstrike?" *said
with a assault rifle*

"Ummm...the answer to the question teacher....uh....ummmm." *girl
throws down smokebomb, when smoke clears, she's gone*

Principle to Teachers while escorting the group across the grounds "We
believe in a great deal of diversified skills for young women is the
key to success."
*Girl walking by Pond is grabbed by camoflaged girl and dragged under
water before girl savate kicks her and begins fighting her in the pond*
"For instance, etiquette and strong peer relations."

Okay, well here's how my perfect warrior module run went...

Basically, the game pretty much went how it was supposed to but the
players made some interesting choices and I made a few modications
that had some long term consequences to the story.

* One of the players is a Bruce Lee fanatic and got into numerous
arguements but has decided to take on fully studying the Rising Storm
Crow art.

* Jean was further killed so that the player IS the only heir to it.

* (Had to figure out rules for switching styles)

* The Phoenix was captured but I'm going to go with the option for a
recurring menace as he breaks away and becomes a threat as big as Bison.

(I never much cared for the Uber-Bison depicton. He should be *A*
villain not THE villain)

* I threw in a lot more Mooks of the Phoenix to fight so that the
"cult/terrorist group" of the man didn't seem like such a waste.

(Honestly, Bonnie and her villains seem largely to be second strongers
that I wonder why the heck the book things that they'd make admirable
villains for PCs).

Overall, I'm surprised how well the game holds up over time and how
pulpy it is.

Players NEVER miss an opportunity to come onto Cammy though.

Ryu is fun to pair up with Street Fighter girls. He's the Alpha Male
so people constantly try and pair him up with similiar Alpha Females.
This is why people constantly choose Chun Li for his potential
bridegroom.

Personally, I kinda wish they'd go for Sakura or even a lesser known
like Motoko (though being as she was once his sister....*shudder*)

To get back to Generations for a second, I'm a little perplexed by the
storyline honestly though I admit I am stunned by the audacity that
the creator had in his interview that this is hopefully one of a
series of new Street Fighter cartoons. First....it's 45 minutes and
next, it's yet another in a series of no-continuity vignettes.

I'd kill (with the Dark Hadou no less) for a Street Fighter II
V...err...II.

Generations further galls me that it sets up a huge relationship
between the girl that we think is Gouki's daughter (but it's actual
Ryu whose his son...however I think its ambigious in the original
Japanese) but we're never going to see her again because its
completely self contained.

Reminds me of Fatal Fury....you knew any girl hooked up with Terry was
dead by the end of it. They can't even ignore it like Bond.

Weirdly, I think Sakura and Ryu in the comics would make an awesome
couple once they're past the teacher student thing. The relationship
in Generations creeped me out because poor Ryu looked like he was
really beating on that girl.

I recently got them and just finished them.

They're absolutely beautiful artwork (though I *hate hate hate* Chun
Li's outfit in Alpha, she looks incredibly cute in her normal
clothes). The Dolls are also fun to look at along with Cammy's Delta
Red girls (fun bunch of people them). Ryu training Sakura has to be
the best and most sensible plotarc of any (why didn't Capcom think of
this?). Boringryu@... was a great address for him.

I'm not sure if Charlie's dead though.

I think they're probably the best arguement you could give to have
consistent continuity for Streetfighter Properties (though I've
managed an uneasy way of combining all the anime in my head). It
enriches the experience so much and I hope it stays ongoing.

I've read No 1# too and there's no Sakura damnit! (I'm a quick
convert, what can I say)

Albeit the review here is atroucious, this is actually a great movie
for what it is and hellaciously funny. I've watched it several times

The storyline has nothing in the slightest to do with Capcoms

StreetFighter genre are the characters and the special moves. But for
anyone in this group I recomend it highly.

I just searched eBay - keywords "street fighter" - went to the Toys
and Hobbies, then Games subcategory. Look at the eBay Stores
listings at the bottom of the page.

There are 2 screens, the Perfect Warrior, Secrets of Shadoloo and
the Player's Guide all available as 'Buy it Now' items. None are
priced above $20, and most are under $15.

Again thanks for looking out, although the players guide seems to
already be sold out :(
My main search is for the primary book, Street Fighter: Storyteller
Game.
Just curious, is the storyteller screen just a screen alone or does
it have an adventure or mini-scourcebook with it?

The screen has a mini-adventure with it, and a few new maneuvers.

Hey all-

I'm curious, has anyone tried to adapt Street Fighter to the newer
version of the WOD rules? I mean, I know that they weren't the EXACT
same system to begin with, but I don't find it hard to imagine that
somebody's itching to bring it inline with the more recent ruleset.

All I have to say is...

Good luck.

When I lived near Milwaukee, I used to be able to find them. (People would
get them at GenCon and sell them off bit later) 4 of them actually. Got one
for myself. Gave a freind another. 3 and 4 I 'traded' to other people... who
never bothered to send their side of the trade. Bastards.

I'm new to the group (just joined today) and I haven't played the White Wolf
Street Fighter game in, geez, ten years(?). So, I have a bunch of questions.

1st: Is it possible to feint? If so, how does that work?

2nd: How do combos work? I heard that if you're setting up a combo you gain
bonuses to Speed. Could someone explain this more?

3rd: How do Jumps work? Obviously, I don't have any of the books, so this
isn't such a dumb question. ;)
When I ask how they work, I mean, what is the benefit of doing it in the
fight? Bonuses to Movement?

4th: What is the benefit of Blocking? Why Block when you could attack?

5th: There isn't a set of the standard rules from the book(s) any where
around the internet, is there?

...okay, so only 5 questions (I'll post the other 15 later). ;)

Normally this is where we yell at you to look it up, but since the list has
been a bit on the deceased side, I'll let it slide and answer your questions.

> 1st: Is it possible to feint? If so, how does that work?

There is a feint maneuver in the player's guide.

> 2nd: How do combos work? I heard that if you're setting up a combo you gain

You string two or three moves together and the second (and third if you go that
far) get a +2 spd. You string these moves together by buying them with power
points.

The biggest advantage is it allows you to 'jump' projectiles (fireball, acid
spit, etc.). The big disadvantage is that you will be in the air, and certain
moves have more oomph when the opponent is in the air (dragon punch will
knockdown if the opponent is not ground bound, for example).

> 4th: What is the benefit of Blocking? Why Block when you could attack?

That is the core tennant of one of the marital arts I study, but that's besides
the point. There are a couple of reasons why you might opt to block instead of
try to KO the guy...

1) You're on the last round of a timed match, way ahead on life and don't see
the need to KO the guy if you don't have to.

2) Your opponent's cute and you don't want to mess up their face.

3) You're cute and you don't want the opponent to mess up your face.

4) You're going for a 'no-touch' KO and your opponent will take damage if he
punches you. (Maka Wara)

5) You're opponent is your friend who is being mind controlled by Bison's happy
henchmen and you'd rather not knock out your bud.

6) You get a +2 speed on your next attack if you block.

Whispers in darkened alleys speak of eMule, but an honest Ryu fearing man has
no truck with such Psycho Power.

My turn to answer....I think there's some room to add detail.

2nd: How do combos work? I heard that if you're setting up a combo you gain
> bonuses to Speed. Could someone explain this more?

Let's say you have a combo like this:

Fierce Punch - Double hit kick - roundhouse kick (dizzy).

First of all, this combo costs 3 power points to build. 1 point to chain the
first two moves together, another to chain the final move, and a final point
to add the dizzy effect. You'll often see combos ending with (Dizzy) so
I'[ll explain that in a sec.

The benefit is that for each move in a combo, you gain a +2 speed modifier
on the next move. So if I execute a fierce punch (at regular speed, because
it's the first move) I get +2 to my double hit kick if I choose to use it in
my next turn. I am not forced to, but the incentive is there.

The Dizzy feature means that I can add the damage up on my combo moves to
determine whether an opponent is dizzy. Normally, an oppoent is dizzied if
the damage they take is greater thn the amout of points in their stamina (I
think). With dizzy combos, you add up the damage the incurred from all the
moves to determine this.

I can't remember if the rulebook specifically states this, but I always
played with the rule that if an opponent is knocked down or dizzied
themselves, their combo is broken. No more +2 modifiers.

3rd: How do Jumps work? Obviously, I don't have any of the books, so this
> isn't such a dumb question. ;)
> When I ask how they work, I mean, what is the benefit of doing it in the
> fight? Bonuses to Movement?

An aerial maneuver with no attack feature. Dodes projectiles. I use it as a
"Move" turn if I think the opponent is going to launch a projectile and I
just want to get into position for my next attack.

4th: What is the benefit of Blocking? Why Block when you could attack?

The best use for blocks is as an Abort maneuver. If you and I play our cards
and we're both attacking, but your attack is faster, I can abort to a block
to add +2 to my soak, and possibly avoid taking damage. I therefore forfeit
my attack. Furthermore, I get a +2 to speed for my next attack. With this
speed modifier you can imagine that running a combo off a block is a pretty
popular technique.

5th: There isn't a set of the standard rules from the book(s) any where
> around the internet, is there?

I'm sure they exist on the p2p networks, but why sell your soul when you can
get them for cheap on ebay.

...okay, so only 5 questions (I'll post the other 15 later). ;)

Bring them on!!!!!!

E-mule is a p2p network where people share files with each
other. You'll need an emule client, which is free and
available here:

That's where I got a lot of OOP rpg books. I plan to buy
new versions if they're ever reprinted.

Hello, its been quite a while since I visited this group, so this
answer is a bit late:

* One of my players took on Cammy but was soundly beaten by her in
three turns (even though he plays a Duellist).

* The players later decided to take a plane to Italy. Even though the
module denotes, that no aerial vehicle is available, none of us could
really believe such a thing ever to happen. Hey we are talking about a
mayor european capital. In short, the whole train scene has been cut.

* In the desert fortress I added a vast underground complex that bears
a dark mystery. I took the chance to introduce a new NPC to the group
who was a captured archeologist made work for the Phoenix.
The group was eventuelly able to capture the Phoenix and took him with
them further down the complex where he eventually managed to escape.
In the deepest chamber he called forth the Power of an ancient egypt
god and was transformed into a man-jackal with incredible powers. The
group had to defeat him again in a climatic battle on a narrow catwalk
over a pool of molten lava (it happens that I had seen The Mummy
Returns a short while before).
