I only gave myself a grab of a 4 because I have done a LOT of grappling and
back in the day before my concussion I was training in judo around 4 hours
a day, four days a week. Maybe a 3 would have been more appropriate but I
am very good, I have the "grappler instincts". I can also assure you that
Shan does indeed have a block of a 4, it's the scariest thing I've ever
seen, even before I started training him hardcore, he was blocking
EVERYTHING. . . . .

personal emails I've received.

Boy... now you're really making me question your stats... especially wits
and intelligence... any one who has to descend to vulgarism to defend
themselves...

I was talking about no post in particular, but the person that said
something about dim mak was _not_ talking about your post, but another
that had it in there...

Alright children, let's play nice...

Hey, we're all here to have fun. Nobody was trying to attack anyone, I'm
sure most of it was just "joshing" as we say in the south. Let's calm down
and enjoy Street Fighter - that's what the list is about. If someone says
something you don't agree with, try walking away from the computer for a
while, so when you come back you can answer in a mature way, without being
hurt or angry. I've had to do it myself. I'd hate to see anyone banned from
the list and regretting it later.

Let me change the subject - has anyone here besides me seen the x-men?

Ok, this goes no further please. I was kind of enjoying the 'portray
yourself as a streetfighter' posts. Yeah, I think some are inflated, but
who cares? So no more 'I can kick your ass' stuff ok? Oh and please watch
the language.

Thanks

Subject: Re: [streetfighter] [MOD] our fighters
I certainly don't like the direction this discussion is taking. We've always
been a group of guys who treat each other respectfully, rarely resorting to
derogatory name calling, or even threats.

For me, this concept of posting ourselves as Street Fighter characters was a
very interesting and on-topic way of getting to know each other a little
better. I've learned that while Chris Hoffman can bench-press me, Megaman205
could drop a Volkswagen on me.

This was also an interesting way of starting a 'Fight Club' type tournament
where we would all pit our quasi-fighters against each other to see how we
fared.

Somehow this all got lost. We started debating how accurately we were
portraying ourselves, because some people's standards were different than
others. (I myself am guilty of giving myself 4 in Computers, because of
extensive knowledge in Programming and Networking), and the spirit of it all
was thrown out.

I would like to encourage more submissions. I was still looking forward to
seeing a few more...(Steve, show us the DOOM TROOPER)...

No more name-calling.
If you have a score to settle, draft up a character and keep it in the ring.
:)

Cheers everyone.

Scott,
X-Men kicked ass! I counted 3 or 4 loose ends at the end. I WANT
SEQUELS!

Subject: Virtua Fighter Videos
For those people interested, in August Virtua Fighter Volumes 1 and 2 will
be released.

Here is a summary of them from Previews. (CAUTION: There are some spoilers
below so if you don't want to know, don't keep reading.

Virtua Fighter Volume 1

Contains episodes 1-4. In episode 1, the series starts off in New Los
Angeles' Chinatown. While a young man (Akira) stuffs his face in a small
Chinese restaurant, a young woman bursts in, chased by several tough looking
guys in black. She is captured, and the restaurant owner asks the hungry
man to rescue the girl from a local gang of criminals called the Koen-Kan.
The man agrees, but on one condition: he can eat as much as he wants for
free at the restaurant after. The owner agrees and the man leaves. Akira
finds her, gets her out of the cell, and they both race outside, disposing
of several thugs on the way! Unfortunately Yang is waiting for them...
In episode 2, Pai and Akira help a little boy, Wei, who is picked on by the
youngest members of the Koen-Kan.
In episode 3, We meet Jacky and Sarah Bryant, blonde bombshells who both use
Jeet Kune Do.
In episode 4, Yang Wei-Ming finally gets in on the action! This is teh
climactic fight between Akira and Yang. Guess who wins?

Virtua Fighter Volume 2
Contains episodes 5-8
In episode 5, the heroes are bound for Las Vegas! Over a campfire, Akira
explains why hes wandering around: To try to regain his pure heart so he can
see eight stars that shine even in daylight.
In episode 6, during a pre-race party held at a casino, the gang runs into
Sarah and Jacky's parents. It turns out they are part of the incredibly
rich Bryant family, but Jacky doesnt want to follow his father's footsteps
and take care of the business, and this causes a lot of tension.
In episode 7, Pai and Jacky think that the local Koen-Kan kidnapped Sarah
and go off on a wild goose chase.
In episode 8, Pai's past and her ties to the Koen-Kan are revealed as Sarah
is being tested in Eve's lab. Lee Coleman shows up again, at first trying
to kill Akira through a dirty trick and then fighting him again. Of course
he losses.

X-men was excellent. Very well done, with good pacing to keep you
interested. Apparently those unfamiliar with the comic had no trouble
following the plot, which is the major item that I had been concerned with.
As far as fight scenes go Mystique has some great moves. And as far as what
this has to do with street fighter just realize that the super ridiculously
high flipping Jumps are what the Jump maneuver is all about, and this movie
took out the cheese (aka obvious wires) and make it look good.

I think as far as fight scenes go, Toad's character could have been played
up a little more. Ray Parks is an amazing martial artist, and just doesn't
get the credit he deserves.

Everyone knows that movie was filmed in Toronto right?
Okay..just checking. :)

I loved Toad! The comic version of the character bites, and they really did
him right in the movie. By the way, the director also wants sequels, and has
announced that if the industry will allow, he will have Apocolypse as the
bad guy in part three!!

funny thing, that. I once had to build myself as a Vampire character, and

drew myself up as a Virtual Adept for Mage...

Oh yes... that's what is tripping me out about these fours and
fives... especially in computer. I program for a living, and make a
pretty good living at it. From white wolf's scale, I'd say I had a
3... skilled professional(and I _have_ designed and written my own OS). 4
is top expert (any of you work at peoplesoft making 250K+ a year? I
thought not), and 5 is... get this... peerless mastery of the subject... I
don't even _know_ anybody who would be a 5... and I know some of the top
people at Borland, Microsoft, Oracle and others... one guy that took apart
and rebuilt Delphi with no source in 2 weeks.

IF this is to be realistic.. let's look at the definitions before we
post... you don't see very well or can't find your left shoe? how about
a 0 in a skill... or a 1 in perception...

Just my humble opinion...

I knew someone would drag me into this. ;)

I haven't drawn myself up as a fighter because I don't think it's possible
for a Street Fighter to have that many zeros on his character sheet. I
wouldn't even get as many technique dots as a MANAGER.

I WANT
SEQUELS!

nah, it's just a common theme. Jackie Chan is doing the same thing in the

To live is to laugh. Only the dead are without laughter. (I read that in a
choose-your-own-adventure book, the source of all wisdom).

Maybe after everyone's done trying to recreate themselves with the SF system
realistically, maybe we could recreate ourselves as we wish we could be.

On an ever so slightly related note, I saw Princess Mononoke in theater last
week. Apparently Disney's released it for all the 2nd chance 3rd chance and
last chance theaters. I saw it in the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City. Check
your listings and see if it's somewhere near you. You won't be disapointed.

I think I got that beat. :) I had the entire series of CYOA plus a bunch of
Which-Way Adventures (same thing, different publisher), all six Golden
Dragon Fantasy Gamebooks (what he said, with the dice n' all), an Indiana
Jones, a GI Joe, and probably a few others I don't even recall. I was
addicted to those things. :p

Wonder if they're still in the garage with all my old Beverly Cleary books?

Heh. I still have 16 D&D ones, 3 Might & Magic ones, 8 Indiana jones ones,
3
transformers, 2 gi joes, 1 sagard the barbarian, 1 cyber spy (or
somethinglike that), 2 cars wars, 1 wolverine and 1 x-men. The car wars and

wolverine were the best b/c they were rolled combats like an rpg & the book
mark doubled as a character sheet. I never throw anything out, and when my
mom purged it never dawned on her to toss the books :)

funny you should mention Picky Picky. I read the book where Picky Picky
died about six months after we'd lost our own household pet, a cat who'd
been with us for years. I never identified with a pair of fictional
characters so much in my life. :) That woman's books just plain rocked. I
gotta go see if I still got 'em somewhere. Heh... the wife'll flip if she
sees me reading children's books.

They're probably all in my dad's basement, but I had a good ton of them
myself.

I remember one with a shark, one about a wizard's apprentice and his linked
dragon going to take on Shen, the dragon of doom.

I had a Superman, a Supergirl, and soooooo many more that I couldn't
possibly list them all.

(There was one that had a sequal about a Samuri and Ninja...)

Lone Wolf for ever! There was also a very cool series where you played a ninja
and they had diagrams of real martial art maneuvers. I forget the name of the
series though. Also anyone remember those two book games where you played
against a friend? There were at least two different serieses like that, one by
TSR (before they became T$R).

Nah. There's nothing cooler than a mouse riding a Harley. Okay I admit it,
there's nothing cooler than a Harley ('cept a cyclone, natch).

The mouse and the motorcycle! Damn, I knew the people on this list were
kindred (no, not that kind) spirits. It's too bad Cleary never wrote more
about Ellen Tebbits and Otis Spofford. Good material, that. Henry Huggins
made a good backup to Ramona & co, though.

I had one of the "head to head" adventure sets you speak of. I know not if
there was a second series of CYOA's, but I had as many as were listed in the
front of the books at the time. :)

I can see it now:

Wife: "What are you doing in the garage?"

Me: "Looking for some old books, dear..."

I haven't completed the backstory yet, so there will just be the guidelines
for characters...and the tournament's sponsor will be Rank 6 or 7, who will
want to challenge the tournament winner. He'll be a little tougher, but he

It was rather difficult to not take that message serious. People beleive
what they want based on their past experiances. We had no hint you were
    joking.

To everyone else. You really should relax more. We have no proof that Cayr
can back those stats up, anyway. But now that we know its a joke........

I dont think any of you should make stats for your selves.
You only get a wrong impression of your self.
