Subject: Re: Announcement (Streetfighting RPG)
I love a good streetfighter game, or a type of
streetifghter game. The modern D20 system isn't to
bad, and there is a good converstion from
Streetfighter to MD20.
What I would like though is a system that dosn't just
deal with one damage type. A punch can be used to hit
and do damage tot he body, or hit and try to
stun/fatigue the peron or even be used to hit nerve
areas and cause massive amounts of pain. Mixe this
with arm locks and other grapple moves and there are
many different ways to inflict "damage" on someone. It
may sound a bit more complex, but i like a system that
is realistic.
One I have been playing with used Fatigue damage,
Bashing Damage and Pain Damage. This allows more sence
with submit type of moves.
I hope there are not hit points.. I have played D&D
for years and still have never seen a good descirption
of what hit points are. A 1st lvl fighter can take a
longsword, a 10th lvl fighter can take like 10
longsword hits... Dosn't make sence. They say as the
fighter gets more experianced that they can avoid the
blow better... avoiding would be dex based not con...
I hope arena has better logic. :)

Its definately RPG material with a bit of fiction I believe.

I can think of.

Thanks! I'm happy to hear that. We felt that Streetfighter was given
an unfortunate serious shaft and there was still alot of RPGing to be
done with the ideas behind it. This one will also allow much more
variety with a slightly stronger unifying backstory.

> 2. What is the system like?

Its very loose formed designed around simulating human level
attributes but with supernatural abilities and special maneuvers that
can take a person much farther in terms of what they can deal out,
take.

Say a human with Superb fortitude is normal but his "Iron Body of
Strength" gives him three times the punishment he can take.

Sometime early next year. Its our top priority now that Mecha Aces
(Gundam and Eva stuff) is having its finishing parts placed on.

Both.

Depends on if any stores will buy it but we arn't counting on much
support until its been around awhile and hope to spread it through
online dealerships first.

According to a really old dragon magazine article I no longer have and am
dredging up from my memory HPs represented in ADnD 1st:

How tough you are (No brainer)
How skilled you are in minimizing damage from hits (which is why you get more
when you level. Even mages learn this eventually.)
Luck (which is why it's randomly rolled) and
Divine Intervention (when it's applicable. A lot of my games were sans deities
and clerics in general.)

Frankly, I'd prefer a hard copy, with an access code or something to get the
PDF online. Maybe a CD with the PDF on it.

Yeah, I'm a comp sci dude, but I've lost too many files to trust to just buying
a PDF without a hard copy as well.

Try out Fuzion. You'll have things like Stun and Hits.

Oh for the love of overly endowed fighting game females, did you even bother to
look at the links you were sent? It's gamefaqs man! If it ain't there,
chances are it ain't in a videogame!

But, because I am superhumanly swell, I did a bit of pokeing around for you,
but couldn't find neither hide nor hair nor fang nor tooth of a 3do SSF2T sound
test. Sorry man, but you'll just have to rip your sounds from an emulator like
the rest of us (or just record it off the tv).

Heh, Torg had three kinds of damage... Stun (hitpoints equal to your toughness
attribute, loose 'em all and you're KOed) K and O (basically the same as Stun,
but you only get two levels), and four wound levels (run out of those and
you're character's dead).

RPGmall where it will also be available can put all your purchases
on a single CD for a small service charge.

Hey Russell,

You've probably noticed by now that this is more a list dedicated to the
Street Fighter pen and paer role playing game. Our discussions often
tangeant into the street fighter characters and world itself, but rarely do
we talk about tips and tricks in the video games proper.

Just thought I'd set an expectation so you can evaluate whether this is the
right place for you to get the kind of info you're after.

Cheers mate.

www.gamefaqs.com has just about everything you'd need; plot
guides, secret codes, review boards, and lots of things are
there for the taking.

If it's the music you're after, check out jpophelp.com.
They have lots of it.

good luck.

Hey guys,

Well if anyone is interested in MECHA as well as Streetfighting we've
just released "Steel Roses" which is the supplement of Heart Quest
that deals with the genre of Gundam, Evangelion, Big O, and similar
stuff.

Its pretty good, cheap (5.99), and has loads of information for an
ebook. Great art too.

We only need to sell 100 copies to justify it in print version too
which afterwards the stuff goes into helping pay for Arena Gods and
other supplements (It'll be out but we're tight due to expansion
costs)

(I'm horrible but I took business classes from M. Bison)

Actually I always assumed his surname was Balrog. His first name is
probably John or something.

Balrog is just his arena name...according to the DMV it's Egglebert
Slaptyback. Kinda explains him all the way 'round. :]

I love it.
I practiced extensively on nearly all the SF games, even the (blech)
SF Vs (insert crappy engine here) series.

but I think sf3:3s is the finest version of sf yet. by far my
favorite 2d fighter (and 2d is my favorite kind of fighter)

sf3 is actually the only sf i happened to catch in the arcades before
it was available on a home system, so i wasted (not really a waste) a
lot of money on it too.

There was a machine in the lobby of a store i used to work at and all
the gamer-guys would take break/lunch at the same time and play each
other for bragging rights. those were the good ole days.

Hey! Kindness to dumb animals. Apreciate it for what it is. The Vs series
was (and still is some what) about flash, explosions, and pretty graphics. SF3
is for hard core technical fighters, and Alpha is (in my opinion) the best of
both worlds.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 becomes much more tolerable if you never unlock certain
characters. Not naming any names (Cable), but there are some serious balance
issues...

I dig SFA3 more. Mmmmm. World Tour mode (PSX version. World Tour for the DC
sucks.)

Now that I think about it, either second impact or third strike is the only SF
I can find in the arcades anymore.

I got third strike on my DC, and it's good. I like it a lot. Unfortunately my
brother, and often only real opponent, hates it with a passion that defines
rational thought, so I don't play it as much as it deserves.

Like airlines would be stupid enough to ask Balrog for his passport. I agree
though that his real name is something silly like Bud Weiser or Garren Teed
(acutally know a guy named Garren Teed. What's worse is that his father's name
is Warren).

Super Street FighterII turbo

The untold story

In the beginning of 93’, there were 12 fighters, namedRyu, Ken, Guile, Chun
Li, Blanka, Dalsham, Zanghief, E. Honda, Balrog, Vega,Sagat, and M. Bison who
joined the tournament to become the top street fighter. When one became the
victor, then 4 more fighters joined the tournament namedCammy, Fei Long, D. J.,
and T. Hawk. But still M. Bison became the victor. Thena man named The New
Challenger started to observe the tournament and decided tolearn the techniques
that each of the warriors had. They soon got wind thatthere was a man that dared
to challenge them. They soon practiced and waswaiting for The New Challenger
to come out of the darkness. And just before TheNew Challenger decided to step
out his brother named Akuma had gotten jealousof his brothers popularity and
decided to take his place without his brothersconsent. They all thought that
Akuma was his brother and so they all gotdemolished by Akuma and Akuma was the
victor instead of his brother. Still tothis day everyone thinks that Akuma is
his brother. Soon later on in the futureThe New Challenger will come out of the
darkness and show himself in person, butthere is one promise that The New
Challenger has made. He has promised that hewill not show his face until he meets
his sister Xena. And when that day comesand when people find out the truth
aboutAkuma and his brother Akuma will thenbe punished with the charge of
blasphemy(which means to claim to be god) as ingod of the street fighters.

oh i appreciate it for what it is.
i just dont like it as much as the rest.
basically only for the novelty of having some favorite streetfighters
and the novelty of cross-overs.

the fighting engine is pure crap IMO, but youre right, its all about
the pretty flashy lights anyway.

I did play it, prolly more than i should have ;-)
so yeah, i give em a smidgen of credit.

they are very cinimatic if nothing else, i remember one time i had no
life, was in the cheese zone, and my friend sent a zillion air
fireball supercombo down on me from a super jump.

though he had me, but he failed to notice my counter (i was
offscreen) dashing like mad under him,

i came out the other side behind him while he was still in the super
and superjumped up behind him into a super hadoken (ryu) and of
course time stops momentarily and your face flashes onscreen.

not technical (not even hard), but very cool and fun.
he still brings it up in conversation.

yes, that is the stupid line of "sf vs (insert crappy thing here)"
they are not part of the cannon storyline.

sf3 is more a continuation of where sf and sf2 left off.

i also thoroughly dig alpha, i just dig 3 more.

Slappy( ringthief@... ) said he " practiced extensively on nearly

I can see your beef with the Marvel vs. games(Evil Zangief), but, and I only

'Cause it'd be bad if you did. SNK is the James Brown of fighting games.
And no one will ever, ever convince me that anything less than Happy, Happy,
Joy, Joy extract is the direct result the ability to use Haohmaru to carve
out Ryu's spleen with the Fugu Blade in Capcom vs SNK 2. Rockin' the 22%,

Well, that's all. I know you didn't mean it Slappy.

Now everyone talking about fighting games...
I remember the Last Blade series, Rival School, Star Gladiators, Kensei...
This much work to make a conversion for Street fighter.
Realy this could be fun...
A Example I convert the guy from Karate Champ (The have a lot of maneuvers)
to Street Fighter system...
I know the people said the game is Jurassic but well I enjoy it for a long
time.

I like snk games, I like capcom games, but I don't like mixed genres
that change the gameplay and the buttons too myc like the "something"
vs "something" types.

Subject: Re: Slappy vs. SNK
actually vs SNK was done really well because they kept the basic
sf/snk fighting engine.

The ones that suck were vs marvel, vs x-men etc. where you have the
jump in 4 hit combo to pop-up to 5 hit air combo, and the frigging
1,000 super combos that can be linked together.

snk rocks and capcom vs snk is a godsend.
the first one was a little krunk because they felt the need to take
away moves from SFers to fit a four button scheme instead of adding
moves to SNKers to fit a 6 button scheme, but they fixed this in the
second one which is golden.

also the ability to customize a groove lets you play with the engine
and get it as true as possible.

customizing color pallets is kinda fun too, like hulk-zangief or
tomba-blanca.

sorry i failed to specify, Vs snk = good, vs anything else where the
game engine is whack with too long combos = bad.

fatal fury is great and fighters 95 etc were badass.
my only complaint about snk games would be that since they are bigger
in japan and were on the neo-geo for so long that some of the
characters/backstorys arent instantly recognizeable to me like SF is.

karate champ was awesome for its time.
i am still waiting for them to jump on the revival bandwagon a-la
shinobi, strider, etc and make a new one.

the 2 stick, no button scheme was neat and has possibilities,
especially now with dual analogs and such.
