me and steve have both been here since before yahoo, and before e-

probably just an isolated incedent and wont happen again after ppl
let this one die.

probably the easiest one would be d20.
they have the open gaming liscense thing, where they dont care if you
publish games using their system so you culd even sell it.

only problem would be distancing it from capcom if you did wanna sell
it. It would have to be kind of generic so it *might* not be
specifically about sf. just about fighting in general.

The Bouncer for the PS2 is awesome...even if many don't agree.
Perfect premise for a Streetfighter campaign too.

Hoorah. Hoorah. Good words of wisdom.
As long as the books are still available somehow, why even consider posting
them
on the internet. It seems they are still obtainable either through this list
or ebay.
It seems to me that putting up a copyrighted book in its entirety is just a
major insult to the people who wrote it
and those who own the rights. Although since I have the books I want, I feel
I am in no position to preach, merely try and empathize.

I just had one question for someone in the know (probably Steve since I
believe I saw it on his page):
Didn't the official e-mail from White Wolf about publishing the books on the
internet simply state that they couldn't give permission?
Obviously, there were more than just the one I saw which already clarified
the question I'm about to ask. Couldn't the above statement possibly be
understood as they simply couldn't give permission. It didn't say, "No, you
can't." It was almost more of a "don't ask, we don't care" statement,
deferring you to Capcom - if anyone. The question/answer that would pretty
much settle things simply put would be, "Will you bring legal action against
someone who does this?"
However, the message from the President of WW pretty much said that
according to the e-mail I'm replying to.

Of course, the not so easy way around this entire problem is simply to write
your own Street Fighter RPG, which I'm surprised there's not more SF RPGs
than just the White Wolf-one.
Perhaps, put up an adaption for the WW: Combat book to add in the moves from
the Street Fighter RPG to make a slightly watered-down version. (That way, a
relatively small amount of stuff would need to be put-up and you could
simply defer someone to get the White Wolf: Combat book and any other one WW
book that tells you how to make a normal person).

Has anyone here written their own gamesystem specifically to play Street
Fighter in or adapted a game system besides White Wolf?

Okay... Hmm..
I created some of my maneuvers with CHAMPS, and they came out WAY too

But else I liked the system.

I didn't like that you just disregarded the add-on maneuvers totally.

Well, I would love to have some players and Storytellers out there
try it out and find the bugs in the system, if any. The creation
process for Maneuvers, Styles and Backgrounds was created with number
crunchers in mind. As you can see, the Maneuvers that most everyone
thinks were unbalanced did come out unbalanced in the system when I
tested it by converting all of the Street Fighter Maneuvers to CHAMPS
Street Fighter Maneuvers. I even gave my version of the "corrected"
ones (but as stated before, each "version" of any Maneuver is still a
legal Maneuver in the system if the points add up).
If you would like to send any Maneuvers, Styles, or Backgrounds
you make up using the system, I would gladly go over them carefully
and make sure they add up. I have a few Maneuvers sent in by players
already posted as I am sure you have seen.
Sometime soon, I will try to get around to adding even more
advantages and drawbacks to that section. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Hmmm.. Oki.. I just have to find them again.
I may have to create them with the CHAMPS system first.

I made them on ordinary paper, as in not on my PC.

I'll send them to you when I find them ^_^

There was the Jean-Claude Van Damme movie and the cartoon series that was
loosely based on it.

I realize that it would be fun to create new PLUS Maneuvers, but the damage done if that was allowed would be enormous. Think of a player who creates 5 new Maneuvers that can be used at any time with any other Maneuver, all of which enhance damage. Add those to a powerful Maneuver, and you have a character dealing 50 dice of damage against his enemies. I didn't want a system that could be abused like that.
I suppose I could make a rule that limits how many PLUS Maneuvers can be used with each other, and then set down rules for creating new PLUS Maneuvers. What do you think?

Cool. The system was designed to make sure that powerful Maneuvers were not too cheap (see the Power Point requirements for damage bonus section). Maneuvers that are really fast and have lots of move could be made with little restriction to Power Point cost, but then again they would have to be offset with weaknesses (or requirements) to make them legal. Again, I am very interested to see what you came up with.

Hmm.. How about restircting PLUS maneuvers to only one per cost type.
As in one maneuver costing Chi(Psychokinetic Channeling) and only one
maneuver costing Willpower(Kiap) at the siame time is legal. But not
two Chi powers or Willpower powers. In my system we can only use 1
Willpoweer each turn anyway. But as many chi as you have Focus.

Hmmms. Maybe you can use more Chi powers, but to a limit of Half your
Focus rating??

What d'you think?

Well, I never heard of SF Alpha: The Movie. But it
can be a remake of the SF Alpha OVAs. They tell us the
story of Ryu´s brother, Shun, and they also tell us
something more about Akuma/Gouki.
The OVAs are great. If someone really wants it, I
have it in .avi format in my computer (Thanks God,
because my tapes are ruined now). They are Huge
(something like 250 MB each) but I can always send it
by mail to someone brave enough...

I'd like a system for new PLUS maneuvers.  It's a hole in an otherwise great system.  It's also a bit unfair as it stands- Not all PLUS maneuvers are equal, and their costs shouldn't be.

Perhaps you could create catagories for PLUS maneuvers to limit how they can be combined.

Don't worry, I won't tell them about you.  I don't have to; they lurk here.

Although I was thinking of a different use entirely.  Story use.  It's a long ways off though.  Not until after the Lost Souls/Fortunes of War crossover.

there is no choice in this vote for "NONE":)
I think no other moves can be aborted to besides jump and block.

evereyone always uses missile reflection as an example ("its useless
unless you can abort") but I dont think you need to abort to use
missile reflection effectively. thats the art of it, you have to
anticipate your opponents next move. same thing you have to do to
play air throw, anticipate if they are gonna jump.

thats my 2 cents but i could be wrong.

List traffic this month has been higher than it's been since Nov. 2000; and
we're only halfway through the month!
And people say no one's interested in this game.

Just as a side note, I'm working on a webpage dedeicated to the game (about
time I do my own) that will have the usual. Styles, Maneuvers, Characters,
and other info. I'll let you all know when it's close enough to completion.

One thing I need to know to complete the page is what software one uses to
convert MS Word docs to PDF.

After two long years I am running the game again. And it feels good.
Maybe I'll finally have something to say on this list rather than
just lurk.

Dig it: my current storyline is by far the most ambitious one to date.

The problem: Shadowlaw + an unnamed third party conspiring to
resurrect the Dark god Amakusa Shiro Tokisada. To do this they need
the following three items:

The Ningen Nozo, or Statue of Humanity (3X3 Eyes)
THe Armor of Mars, or at least what's left of it. (Fatal Fury the
Movie)
The Soul Edge, again, what's left of it. (Soul Edge/Calibur)

The heroes: Kickboxer, aikidoist, and a modern day templar knight.

The villains: The all-new, all more insane Vega, Billy Kane, and the
Black Triad: Iori Yagami/Orochi, The Matriarch (Bison's sucessor) and
Akuma.

The allies: Yakumo Fujii, Terry Bogard (Mark of the Wolves version),
and the collective descendents of the Warriors of Light (main cast
from Samurai Spirits/Shodown 1).

Locales: China, Tibet, Rome, India, and soon, the Return to Shadolaw
Isle.

It's an exciting time to be a SF gamer, folks. Party on.
