Reminds me...one of the most touching moments I had in the SF: STG was
having Grey, one of the PCs, bump into Scarecrow (the throw-away Wu Shu
fighter mentioned as Jade's opponent who gets crippled)...they talk,
Scarecrow runs off at the mouth about his future plans and prospects...and
then Grey has to watch Jade cripple him the next night. Talk about a guy
out for Jade's blood. Grey was ALL about whoopin' her, lemme tell ya.

I meant in shades of grey more than the screen itself, but i fi
recall correctly the screen was pretty ridiculous too.

when I get off work I'll have a second look and see if im just
remembering it funny.

We use cards, but I rarely check.
I think the system definitely has merit, of picking your moves blindly
before you know what the other person is doing. Promotes trying to actually
predict your opponents move.

Group: streetfighter Message: 11968 From: throwrocks@bigfoot.com Date: 12/3/2001
Subject: Re: House Rules
good question,
i can tell he's cheating without cards like this:

player 1: my speed is 2
player 2: my speed is 6
player 3: my speed is 4

ok gang, the slowest goes first so thats you player 2, then everyone
else interupts you if they want.

what was your move?

Player 2: Im gonna hit player 1 with my jumping fierce.
player 1: go ahead, my move rox so i won't interupt.

(bang)

ok player 3, now its your turn with your 4 speed. player 2 has moved
away from you to hit player 1. what was your move.

(silence)

This silence is where he visibly runs his finger down his speed
column and looks for anything with a speed of 4 (like he announced)
that can still reach a target.

this silence is also usually broken by captain obvious going "ummm,
hmm, let me see" while deciding what move he wants to play now, and
often visibly counting hexes with his fingers to see what move will
reach. (all of coarse contrary to the fact that your supposed to
choose your move before announcing its speed)

often times upon snatching his sheet away it is found that either
A: the move he finally DOES decide on doesnt have the speed he
announced at which point he replies, "oh i meant to say ____"

or

B: NO MOVE ON HIS WHOLE SHEET HAS THAT SPEED.

Cheating is cheating, but when its done THIS badly it is also an
insult to the gm and other players intelligence. cant let that
slide..

When we use cards it is right there in his hand, we can look at it,
and we know thats what he picked at the begining of the round.

Hey, there everyone. I am new to the SF listserve, and
I need help. I am really interested in running SF, but
I haven't got the book or anything. I have no access
to any of the material, so I am asking: Does anyone
have an extra copy of the book they're willing to part
with? Do you know anyone who does? Hell, does someone
have a copy they'll send me and let me copy? I"ll pay
shipping. I'm located in Bowling Green, Kentucky,
which is about an hour north of Nashville, Tn, if
anyone needs to know. This goes for all the
supplements, screens, whatever. I would really
appreciate the help. Thanks, and I hope I hear from
someone soon.

Well, I've noticed it has gotten a bit thin, maybe I'm not contributing enough.

A fanzine like this really lives or dies on the quality and quantity of the submissions sent in.  The Editors generally doesn't have the time to write enough material on their own to warrant an issue, so no submissions = no book.

My own writings don't really help, since I do mostly fiction and concepts instead of solid rules information; which roughly means I'm giving desert instead of meat and potatos.

I'd say that the best thing you can do for Warrior's Pride is contribute something good to it and give the other writers helpful or inspirational feed-back.

Ah now, little weed-hopper, as it is listed in the poll as Player's H-book, so
the SF:STG main book shall be refered to as. In this post anyway.

Believe me, you don't want my PHB. It's in pretty bad shape. Fortunately I've
practically memorized it.

I'm afraid the dark one has the right of it sure 'nough. If I'm
lucky and/or manage my time really well, I can squeeze off a
character or two occasionally.

I wonder, does that make my characters the appetizer?

And don't just restrict yourself to house rules or other articals
that have graced The Pride in the past. One of the reasons I was a
long time Dragon Magazine subscriber was their reviews. Feel free to
send in reviews on Anime/Action movies that you feel might inspire a
chronical. Another reason is the really cool art and comics. If
you've got artistic tendencies, I'd love to see some SF humor. Or
drama. Or Action. Or even the stats of Dilbert the World Warrior.
Use your imagination. If you don't have one, I'll let you borrow
mine.

I'll run practically anything (I'm desperate) as long as their some
kind of connection to SF. Anything goes. I don't censor. I usually
forget to spell check even.

What the entire thing did, was that I seriously started thinking about
what this module/whatever might really BE. I actually thought about
forging something that looked likely and would cover about 36 pages, and
then just say: "Look, guys, I've got Shadows over Mexico", and then see
how long it would take for anyone to see through my ruse :-)

I did figure it out when I got to the end of the message, but I reread each
paragraph about five times to make sure I was reading it right so it took a bit
longer than usual to get there.

So disappointing.

May the fleas of a thousand reindeer nest in your nostrils. (See? I don't

He, he, he ... The "NPC friend who gets in game to became a
friend/rival from another team and is crippled by some nasty guy/gal
players will meet in d future" routine is a great stand-by of crapy
martial arts stories. It worked wonders in a group of players when
they saw a team of friends, the Valkyries, get seriously trounced by
that team from Perfect Warrior. The ninja who saw his girlfriend end
up in a coma certainly didn't feel very nice or merciful to anyone for
quite some time.

We used index cards numbered 1 to 10 for each battle, and maneuver
lists which listed all the important numbers for all of your
maneuvers (like the ones npcs have). Then each round you'd write
your choice of maneuver on the line for whatever round of combat it
was, and you'd flip that over-reveal all at once. Then you'd just
refer to your maneuver list for the numbers. No card shuffling, no
stack of cards (except the index cards the storyteller brings) and if
you write small you can often fit a whole night's game's worth of
battles on one large index card. Worked for us.

This subject seems to always come up every now and again.

We once contacted White Wolf and asked about the status of the copyright on
the material. This is an excert from the answer they gave us (or rather gave
Scott Pittman) on September 12, 2000.

=========================
"We do not currently have a license to print further Streetfighter material,
and therefore are not legally empowered to grant anyone permission to do so
either. We still own the copyright to the game itself, but the rights to
print under the Streetfighter trademark have expired."
=========================

So no, we wouldn't be allowed to redistribute the material. Even though
Whitewolf didn't actually say yes or no, what they did say was that even if
they *did* permit us to copy their material, we would also need CAPCOM's go
ahead because their license over the Streetfighter materials has expired.

It definitly looks like there's a market for it so.

Just some thoughts.
