Interplay is still selling the Ultimate RPG Archives, which contains all 3
Bards' Tales, the BTCK, Wasteland(!), Stonekeep, Ultima Underworld I & II,
Might & Magic: Worlds of Xeen, Dragon Wars, and uh, prolly a few I missed.
:)

I wonder if I could do an SF plot for the BTCK... they do have the monk
class...

Well, I did enjoy reminiscing about old PC games.... hey Rinaldo,
what's the good word on the tourney? Have you started it yet, or are
you still waiting for entrants?

Considering the good job they did of World Tour Mode in @3 it would
probably rock..

that wasn't the same thing as an rpg but it showed they can go in a
new direction without sucking!

Speaking of old pc games remember Archon?
wouldnt it be cool to have a side game in a sf video game like
archon, switching between chess and fighting each other.
you could even set characters as kings, pawns, whatever based on how
good you were with them, then when someone enters your square you
play a round.

Tekken has a million mini games but sf never does (sigh)
(well theres always rival schools)

I loved Archon. Too bad nobody could beat me. The sequel was great too,
except the computer Adepts were unbeatable in the Void. They never missed
with those guided projectiles, and if you managed to beat one you'd have a
sliver of health left and they'd just attack again next turn. In other
words, you couldn't hold the Void. ever. :)

I've heard of it and WISH it were in English.
I heard they were going to do a KOF RPG but they never did.

To the best of my, admittidly limited, knowledge, neither Capcom or any of it's
partners or subsidaries are working on an SF:RPG.

Not that we don't want one. In fact one poor man wants one so badly, he's
written up an entire manifesto on how it should be put together at

Subject: Re: Street fighter Alpha Movie
No Im serious. The plot was good. If no one here has noticed the previous
attempts at street fighter all tried to hard to, incorporate all the
characters or what ever. This one was accurate in all its details.

Ken had no problems Street fighting(like he did in SF2)
Ryu actually did something in this movie and he had a point in it.
And unlike from what Ive been hearing in this group, The only one who
claims that Ryu is associated with Akuma is Shun. And he's not even Ryus
brother. He can hardly be considered a secure source of information.
The plot focused on the people its supposed to. Ken, Ryu and chunli.
with a sub plot involving Sakura.
I love the way the used the old Rickity plane just like SF2
Also when they were going to Dr. Sadlers Tournament They reffered to it as a
high ranking Tournament.(Perfect for the RPG)
Plus the way they did the animation was great. In calm serene scenes the
animation was faded and lighter colours were used.
But when it came to action it was all there. Especially loved the way that
Evil Ryu blow away that big guy with a point blank fireball.
And the way he simply side stepped those electrical bolts the guy shot. I
mean thats perfect, nothing fancy.
Even the way the characters acted sometimes. Like Ken abandoning Ryu TO get
Sakura out of the Building.

Are we actually talking about the Same street fighter Alpha movie???
I mean the story was more like the video game than The SF2 movie.

Actually, I got a great many of those "Golden Oldies" on my HD. If I
remember correctly, http://www.gamingdepot.com has a few that you can
download fairly quickly. Remember, most of these games are only a few Mb
big, if that :-)

Subject: Re: Street fighter Alpha Movie
Im afraid not. The alpha movie was much better In many ways.

1) There was a plot. SF2 Was just jumping from character to character with
no purpose. It looked good. but that was as far as it went.
Alpha atleast had a plot and involved the 2 main characters it was supposed
to.

2) The story involved the characters without bison or heavily on Akuma. This
made it seem like only a small part of a bigger story.
The problem with sf2 is it didnt have enough time, to focus on the
characters.

SFA

Pros: 1)Complete story and plot
2)Character development
3)Good Animation and movement
4)Focused on certain characters

Hold on steve. Theres a few mistakes. We know that Ryu has been with gouken
since he was a child, but the rest of the information you have on Ryu was
given by Shun. And shun is hardly an accurate source of information.

Group: streetfighter Message: 10597 From: Darrick Chen Date: 3/17/2001
Subject: Re: Street fighter Alpha Movie
Thought I'd add my two cents, as I really think no one was awaiting this
anime more than I.

First the positives:

Really well animated fighting sequences, especially the ones involving Chun
Li at the beginning and during the end credits.

Had some of my favorite SFA characters in it, such as Sakura and Rose.

Now the negatives:

Hackneyed story. Let's use the long lost brother routine AND patch it into a
BAD action movie pilot.

Utter WASTE of good characters. The whole SF Alpha/Zero game series
revitalized an aging franchise by infusing new, creative, and orginal
characters into its roster. Hell, they brought GUY from Final Fight in, and
what do they do? Give him less than 15 collected seconds of screen time.
BIRDY got more screen time than him, and even got to speak.

This could have been a great way to expand the world of the anime SF, by
elaborating on its lesser known characters and giving it some substance. But
once again it's all about Ken and Ryu and the "fight". Note to Capcom:
ALRIGHT ALREADY! THEY'RE BADASSES! WE GET THE PICTURE!

They ditched the entire SF mythos. Who was this dork that was running the
"tournament". Moreover, why should we care? Where's Bison/Vega? Where's
AKUMA for that matter? Every promotion I've seen for SFA was implying that
Akuma played a big role. He's in it for less than 10 minutes. What the hell.

Someone should drop kick Shun. I can't beleive they brought this, the
Scrappy Doo of SF (or is that Dan) and gave him more focus than say, Sakura.

Wasted all the multiple back stories the Alpha series brought up. What about
Charlie/Nash? What about Rose and Bison/Vega? ANY of these already existing
plotlines would have made a better movie and satisfied a LOT fo the fans
who've been waiting.

Worst thing is, is that I don't think they're going to make any more SF
anime after this one. The franchise (at least in Japan) is starting to wane
more than a little.

Maybe I'm overly disappointed or pessimistic. My opinion, anyway.

Subject: Totally ignoring Street fighter Alpha Movie
Well, i have something to add about SFA (not the movie,
sincerely you have talked more than i ever would about
it)

Once i commented that according to the Alpha storyline,
Bison got his powers from killing Rose's dad. A friend
commented that i left things a bit confused so here's
the whole deal.

Rose, her dad, and SOME family members (not all) were
the keepers of a certain unmentioned artifact, it seems.
Thanx to this artifact, they developed their psychic
powers. Then came Bison, and turned Rose's family in
horse-food, so to speak and steals the artifact, and
their powers (and maybe lifeforce) with it.

Rose escaped this destiny, probably because she wasn't
home when it happened, it isn't explained. She later
discovers that Bison was the guy responsible and goes
after him. If you get the "perfect ending" in the 1rst
Alpha, she manages to defeat Bison and tries then to
absorb the power from him. She does not suceeds, but
does get a part of it out of him. That's why Bison is
more powerful in d 1rst Alpha than in SF2, that's later,
chronologically speaking.

Ah, and if i'm not mistaken, Evil Ryu appears in d 3rd
Alpha, and it's a result of Bison's tampering with Ryu's
mind & chi.

Hope this is useful to anyone.

so as you think street fighter alpha the movie sucked well thats in
your point a view yes there where some dippy scenes. As in a fact
that they did not bring charlie into the game until sfa2 but as there
in that game better combos and stronger fighters but as you know that
there was no better game then sf2 the original game on the SNES but
street fighter 1 was first on the nes then on the turbo grafx but the
real thing is that those people who made the movie they didn't make
for your pleasure alone they made it for the people who made stuff
like godzzila and the thing those people spent almost three months
trying to make that movie good and the did it the best they could so
think about it.

I wasn't that impressed with this movie either. Also it says on the back

I love), but it's not.

How many times does Chun Li have to meet Ken and Ruy??

I have all the SF books, and almost all the Aberrant books, so I guess I

Own virtually all the Aberrant books (except Reign of Evil.com and
Fear and Loathing) and all the SF books... just had an excellent

about? A Marvel vs. Capcom thing? :) Basically, isn't the XWF the
Aberrant version of pro wrestling (though easily adapted to Street
Fighting)? You should check out another book, "Combat". It's got a
decent system for setting up street-fighter like combats in the WoD
(Mage, Vampire, etc.)

Actually, and this is something that didn't hit me until well after I'd seen

Not something like that. My idea was that Pre-Galatea
low-power Novas were far more common (and discreet) than
the public suspects.

Basically, isn't the XWF the

adapted to Street

I thought so too. I was thinking of just a change of
rules on Street Fighting to see how it works. If you mix
up Aberrant & Street Fighter concepts and plots, that's
something to discuss a bit longer. And the World Circuit
could be the big, old and ugly grandaddy of d' XWF

Yup, that's exactly what i have on my mind. And maybe
somethings besides (eufiber makes a great excuse for
those stones Theons use as chi-batteries and the "dying
for power" rule and it's taint collaterals make for a
great explanation & representation of "dark chi", i
think). Let's put this wagon goin' guys !

Being Jonathan's Aberrant GM AND Street Fighter GM (for all of
half-a-session), I can say that I think Aberrant and Street Fighter go well
together.

One idea is to do something that was actually in Champions:New Millenium. In
that game, there are underground (often literally) Super-hero slugfests for
big money, just like Street Fighter. The matches and tournaments are funded
by a mysterious group no one knows anything about. In reality, it's an evil
Mega-Corporation that is using the matches to observe Supers and their
powers and personalities in order to recruit them to their nefarious agenda
(kind of like Shadoloo, but less corny).

One could do the same thing in Aberrant using the XWF or something more
underground (to get the more desparate seedy types who'd be willing to earn
a few bucks working for a mega-corp.).

I also toyed with using Combat! with Aberrant, even making up some combat
sheets for the Aberrant characters. It's super easy. If anyone would like
copies of those Aberrant combat sheets, just send me an e-mail.

And Jonathan, remember Blur? He had a Combat! sheet written up for him, I
can show you next time you're not on drill.
