The Red Cyclone, Zangief, was shown today in Street Fighter V for the first time. [Read more…]
I just realized the official Street Fighter Vine account gives some hints about fighting style and story in their animated bios!
Occupation: Eldest son of a wealthy Middle Eastern Family
Fight Style: Parkour
Skills: Puzzle solving
Occupation: Emissary of the Gods
Fight Style: Violent taking advantage of physique
Skills: Animal possession
We may have an Air Elemental on our hands!
New character Rashid has been revealed, I’ll post new info as it becomes available!
The prophecies spoke of this…
For the record, there have been a few other character announcements for SF5 that I have not covered them here because I don’t consider them “newsworthy” (it’s a no-brainer that Ken is in). Getting to see R.Mika again however, is pretty unexpected after such a long time!
It looks like now instead of having a huge wrestling ring appear to jump off of (Alpha3) she simply has a tag team partner that comes in for certain moves. This is a nice way to continue her tradition of dragging corny and unorthodox wrestling elements into a street fight, while also fitting into the game better in my opinion. The wrestling ring was hillarious but it really worked better as a cartoony hand-drawn sprite. In 3d it would be a little weird.
Not many details are known yet about the new Brazilian fighter Necalli who was just revealed. Here is the footage:
Edit: More details have shown up!
This guy so far looks to not have any discernable martial art, so pain in the ass for me basically.
Necalli, the Soul-slaying Darkness
An ancient warrior who consumes the souls of the strong. He sniffs out mortal combat and stands in the way of the mighty. With his overwhelmingly destructive power, he slaughters everything.
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 113 kg
Occupation: Ancient warrior
Likes: The souls of the strong
V-Reversal: Michibiku Yobigoe (“Guiding Call”)
Necalli blows the opponent away with a powerful roar! After striking back, rush in.
It’s no surprise that Cammy is back for Street Fighter 5, but the latest reveal at E3 showed Birdie also, which was a bit of a shock to me for a couple reasons.
First, he just hasn’t been around for a long time, and wasn’t really that popular to begin with. More surprisingly though is that he looks a lot different now!
He has a giant overweight sprite that reminds me a lot of Earthquake from Samurai Showdown II.
This seems to fall in line with what they said previously about wanting to make every character in SF5 totally different and unique: now we have a big Earthquake dude. That’s something to keep in mind for future speculations.
For you it was the day Bison was announced for Street Fighter V with the release of a trailer showing him off. For him it was Tuesday.
Not as interesting as a new character, but still nice to see how they are changing him up.
Notice the grey hair, pointing to sf5 being the most recent game chronologically (not a prequel).
